British man recounts shocking encounter with racist Russians in Phuket
Personally, I do some homework before stating facts. The racism following the referendum was globally reported. https://www.euronews.com/2016/07/03/police-report-surge-in-racist-hate-crime-since-uk-brexit-vote (Europe) https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/post-brexit-racist-attacks-soar-hate-crimes-reported-to-police-increase-57_uk_57714594e4b08d2c5639adcb (US) https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2016/06/29/484038396/after-brexit-vote-u-k-sees-a-wave-of-hate-crimes-and-racist-abuse (US) https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/06/25/the-uncomfortable-question-was-the-brexit-vote-based-on-racism/ (US) https://www.smh.com.au/world/brexit-britain-gripped-by-wave-of-racism-in-aftermath-of-vote-20160628-gpt919.html (Australia) https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2016-07-05/debates/7FECFE5E-931A-45A2-A978-24B77706D4B5/EUReferendumRaceHateCrime https://www.france24.com/en/20162706-media-watch-post-referendum-racism (France 24) (from 2.48 mins) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-racism-uk-postreferendum-racism-hate-crime-eu-referendum-racism-unleashed-poland-racist-abuse-true-scale-revealed-a7160786.html https://newsroom.iza.org/en/archive/research/brexit-referendum-vote-caused-an-increase-in-hate-crime/ (Germany) https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/6/28/brexit-increase-in-racist-attacks-after-eu-referendum (Qatar/global) https://www.economicsobservatory.com/did-the-vote-for-brexit-lead-to-a-rise-in-hate-crime (UK - nothing to do with the Observer)

British man recounts shocking encounter with racist Russians in Phuket
The incidents were reported live and there were interviews. I simply have links to two articles available. How many links do you require? Breitbart news in the UK is sketchy at best. Maybe you are too young to remember 2016? And Poles are mentioned in the first few paragraphs. Obviously you stopped reading at that point.

British man recounts shocking encounter with racist Russians in Phuket
Not sure what you mean as I followed the news over the referendum period live and there were many reports. Interviews with British indians. Let's not forget the Windrush saga.

British man recounts shocking encounter with racist Russians in Phuket
It was well reported at the time. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-36634786 https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/26/racist-incidents-feared-to-be-linked-to-brexit-result-reported-in-england-and-wales Google is your friend. Use it before calling people liars.

British man recounts shocking encounter with racist Russians in Phuket
Quite confusing to come from one of the most racist countries in Europe and meet racist Russians. I remember colored Brits reporting that the day after the Brexit referendum result in 2016 they were jeered by white Brits telling them to go back to their own country. Avoiding Russians in Phuket should be a breeze. Why let Russians stop you from visiting Thai relatives in Thailand?

Police chief confirms 2 dead with reports of at least one more fatality in Bangkok mass shooting
I find it interesting that the boy was captured alive. In another country, he would have been blown away by police with 60 bullets. Sad for the boy's parents, but why give a mentally disturbed kid access to guns?

More details on Thai taxation of overseas income
It isn't clear for sure. Money transferred to Thailand from overseas was likely from bank A overseas to Bank B in Thailand. How can bank B ascertain that the money was earned income not savings? If I have an account overseas that was used to keep savings and earn interest, does the Thai bank deduct tax automatically? Why would we have to prove it is not earned income? Why shouldn't the Thai government have to prove it was?

First referendum on new constitution expected in Q1 of next year
It is doubtful that the wording of every line of the Constitution will be changed. Similar to other Constitutions, there will be amendments that will become part of the new Constitution. I believe, for instance, that MF asked for 112 to be amended, not stripped out.

PM Srettha aims to lift Thailand to upper-income status in four-year soar
Create high income, push price inflation up. Lose cheap Chinese tourists. Lose manufacturing as skills don't rise to meet expectation. Poor education means depending on unskilled work in tourism. (The "hey you mister" syndrome) A need for cheaper labor grows. Cheaper unskilled workers enter from the region and more Thais become unemployed. Without fundamental changes to education, paying higher wages will create more problems.

Govt Unveils 2024 Budget Plan
If only one government cared about the level of education here they would stop buying war toys and invest properly to raise education standards. One foundation I know wanted to teach poor women basic financial literacy but the project failed. When asking the women why, many said they didn't know how to read and weight. Budget be damned, focus on where it goes and what it does

Thailand Wrestles with the Ripple Effects of Cannabis Decriminalisation
The big question is why put cannabis back into the hands of drug lords? It has always been available to all ages if they could afford it, as is ya ba and ecstacy. Now, the government can tax it and receive much need revenue, while benefiting farmers financially, but would rather allow gangsters to get rich. So ironic that rich countries are decriminalizing while Thailand moves in the opposite direction.

Thai-Chinese Chamber urges neutrality in US-China conflict, deeper China ties
Boo hoo. It is so unfair that the Chinese can enter visa free. The Thailand Treaty of Amity permits American companies to hold the majority of the shares or the whole company, branch office or representative office located in Thailand. American companies are allowed to engage in business on the same basis as Thai companies, and are exempt from most of the restrictions of foreign investment imposed by the Alien Business Law of 1972. Giving the Chinese free entry without visas doesn't seem like such a big deal after all.

Not sure that overweight or fat people should be called out. It seems however that the truth was told.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I was reading that insurers in the UK are now refusing to renew cover on EVs, or charging very high premiums due to the high cost of repair. Is there any sign of this happening in Thailand yet? https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/sep/30/the-quotes-were-5000-or-more-electric-vehicle-owners-face-soaring-insurance-costs

Media organisations to probe Surachate’s payments to journalists
To be honest, paying journalists to attend a news conference used to be common (I haven't been involved with journalists personally for a few years) as it paid for travel and lunch. I put a stop to it in one region, and yes, fewer journalists turned up but the ones that did just wanted the story and that's what they got.
