  1. I see that now you pointed it out. So much for my x-mass card.
  2. @Crossy I happened to be chatting with @MJCM on another platform and not aware of this thread but discussing the same. I think I am on MJCM's mailing list for x-mass cards this year with his 12v Solar pump switch issue. This system works when there is a long way between Solar pump and storage tank without wires...There is a simple pressure switch near the pump which is adjustable and a float in the storage tank. When the pressure reaches the set limit the switch turns off. Keep it simple stupid. https://www.commodoreaustralia.com.au/product/pressure-kit-for-solar-dc-pumps-without-tank/ On another note comparing prices with contractor installation and buying of the shop floor is a huge difference. 178,000bht 5Kw solar system Global compared to 83,000bht Godungfaifaa for similar setup in a kit. Thai company. I think from Surin near Pattaya
  3. Christmas aint come yet. Still no Smart Meter and still no Batteries!! On the positive side had two visits from Korat PEA regarding installation of the Meter. For the life of me I'm not sure what they where actually doing or the real purpose of the visit. The first visit as explained by the Luv Machine who also had no idea was the Thai Energy Regulatory Commision who are the PEA Police in lose translation!! The task was to ensure that Tax had been paid on the installation. The thing is they never inspected anything. No receipts or paperwork just had a friendly chat got the Luv Machine to sign a document saying we had been inspected and everything was Hunky Dorey. Chock Dee and off 3 men went on their 1.5hrs return trip back to Korat!!! The next Guy to turn up a week later brought a Multi Meter and actually opened up the Solar fuse box's and took a few readings. Got the Luv Machine to put her Monica Lewinsky on another piece of paper saying we had been inspected and everything was Hunky Dorey. At least PEA know we are alive. Have been waiting on the Batteries for 6 weeks now. No need to say anything more!! Produced 1.295Mwh for the month. Production seems fairly constant with just over 1Mwh each month since installation. We had plenty of Sun this month. The panels orientation are pointing more directly at the sun but struggling to put out 8kw whereas during the wet they where pumping 9.5 to 10kw but less direct orientation and obviously plenty of cloud/rain. Gave PEA 959kwh free (2100Bht) and also paid 1,500Bht Fai Bin... 74% of production went to PEA free... BREATH IN THE GOOD AIR BREATH OUT THE BAD!!!!!!!!! No blackouts for the month.
  4. Every time I have had to provide proof of Address I get one from the local Police Station Burriram. They have a saved word document and simply change the Name and Address. Two Passport Photos. Free but of course a bit of tea money for their trouble 100bht. The Luv Machine takes the House Book but by memory she has never showed it. Only needed Passport all done in 5 minutes.
  5. Completely the opposite.. Burriram.. 2 jabs Pfizer..record of each jab printed out..Logged into app with 19 digit Thai ID # from jab record..Showed Pfizer Batch number and dates I got jabbed with and phone QR code to prove had have had jabs. Got yellow travel passport after paying 50bht via phone QR code only (no cash) and copies of Passport and Visa Extension. Easy as......
  6. In considering which inverter you are looking at purchasing the below link takes you to the Approved PEA list. These inverters will not push power back into the grid when there is a blackout. Safety... https://www.solar-thailand.com/pdf/PEA.pdf
  7. Good question.. The batteries can only charge at a certain rate ie consume so much energy while charging. So if the Solar is putting out more than the batteries can eat while charging the excess goes back into the grid.... That's what I am hoping for anyway when my batteries show up!!!!
  8. It is not difficult to source all the materials. You can get through the usual Lazada etc on-line stores if you know what you need. I have not purchased anything from these guys in the link below as at the 11th hour I decided to stick with contractors. (I'm talking about my up and coming Battery installation). Sometimes you get sick and tired of searching for stuff. This site has all the bells and whistles solar related and the sales guys very helpful with info. Note they like the phone App Line to communicate and not email.. Just the Thai way.. Quick to respond. The prices for batteries beat everywhere else I looked (Huawei). They sell complete kits. Thai based company. https://www.godungfaifaa.com/ Pluging into an existing socket can be done ...BUT.... that is really scary stuff...really scary!! Make sure the main breaker is off to the grid and have the local fire truck number saved in the phone... It's best to tinker with the main fuse board with an inverter that will not export during a blackout. Like i have said before "I know enough about electricity to know I know very little"..Silent killer..
  9. KhunLA going from what my Luv Machine was told by Nang Rong PEA (Burriram) there are a few options. You can get a transfer into a bank each month for any excess. Save the monthly excess and claim at a later date (why would you do this!!). Save the excess and take it off future readings when the consumption is higher than production. Note.. I have not seen this in writing anywhere just from the horses mouth..
  10. Net metering the legal way is a pain in the "swear word". If you are really, really, really lucky you might have an old PEA meter which spins backwards so you will get net metering return Kwh for Kwh (instead of 2.2Bht k/wh). The thing to look for on your meter is if it has a "+ and - symbol with an arrow above the spinning disk" like the photo below. If the arrow is only going one way and does not show a - then your out of luck. Any inverter of reasonable quality would have the option to disable export by a push of a computer button or switch while still providing Solar power. Disabling export when the meter reader is around is the way to go. Going for a small system like you are thinking of has a lot of advantages ROI wise.
  11. The Ducks lined up this month, and so did the Sun. Some Ducks went walkabout and the cloud covered the Sun! Was meant to have the 15kwh batteries installed a couple of weeks ago.. The floods caused a delivery delay?!! So come this Sunday one of the ducks will hopefully get back in line. Im using a different contractor for installation from Surin this time......385K Bht. 5 years warranty 555. Including Back up Box for power outages. PEA Korat was meant to turn up last week for electrical inspection but the main guy had a reaction to his Covid injection... Thats another Duck on walkabout but at least the Luv Machine is slowly getting the squeaky door oiled. Will let her continue playing with them the Thai way...At least some movement from PEA. So managed to produce just over 1 Mwh given the cloudy wet month. Gave away 600Kwh again free to PEA which should have been 1,200Bht in my pocket! Bring on the Batteries and Smart meter!! The system has been producing more than consumption last few months which is what I want to tap into. One black out this month 3 hours.. The Sun on the 21st October had a declination of 10Deg 29Min South which put it staring straight at the PV's with the pitch of the roof 23Deg South. Yep the Solar Puddah was not on my side with cloud that day (was hoping on blue sky's) but managed another record a few days later with 55.8Kwh production. Will I crack 60kwh?? There's still room for improvement..
  12. Good choice Isuzu.. The 1.9lt Diesel has heaps of power and cheap to run. Honestly there are not that many big hills in Thailand...Are you going to tow a caravan or trailer???!!!! There is always the Eco Button you can turn off if you really need that extra grunt..! My vote 1.9lt hands down...
  13. @tamsam6 I used a Bkk company Dragon Energy to fully install a 15Kw Huawai system in Issan. I cannot fault the guys on workmanship. I know enough about Solar and electronics to know I know "F" all. The guys doing the installation where neat in their work and you could tell they knew what they were doing. I would recommend them to anyone around the BKK area. I would not recommend them up here in Issan simply because of the back up support. I had some minor issues with installation and computer readouts of performance data which meant they had to come from Bkk to rectify. I'm also 3 months overdue on a 6 month warranty check on the system which understandably they cannot do because of Covid restrictions. I'm not sure if I would use the Huawei solar system again. Not because of quality which they have an excellent reputation but because once you start using their product you are committed to using only their products. It's like an apple and android phone, nothing is compatible except the original brand . I'm now putting in a 15kwh battery supply with a back up box to supply power when there is a blackout. I had no option but to use Huawei Batteries.. Once again Huawei have an excellent reputation for quality but at a price. The warranty in Thailand is only 5 years. 10 years is the norm in Western Countries. They do install many other brands of solar so do your research before you buy. Think about upgrading and compatibility in the future etc. A lesson learnt by me with limited options. Link to my Installers.. https://www-dragonenergysolar-com.translate.goog/en/?_x_tr_sl=th&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=nui,sc Will follow your thread...good luck...everyone Luvs photos if you can.
  14. I've built up about a 2 weeks supply seeing what was happening... and soon or sooner than then if no improvement on the supply... A Poipet border crossing for a visit will be on the cards.
  15. My Accountant does the same with mail in the PO Box or at least his Office runabout does. Its scanned emailed and filed for when I return. Even deposits the odd cheque into my bank. All my Tax and Personal Super fund is done via e-mail. I must admit I grew up with him to the extent we used to have baths together as a kid!! Nowadays we catch up in Patts or Sin City (Pre Covid). He reckons he claims the flight on tax over here to visit his client..Me!.. Not sure if it a fib or not.
  16. You have heaps of time if sending express. Just talk to Post Office which courier to use DHL/Fed ex/EMS etc and get a guaranteed delivery time. 2/3/4 days? Yes you pay more. Must be a reason you cant send PDF documents to your Accountant via e-mail? Strange? Your Accountant should be able to lodge on your behalf? That's why you pay them big bucks to look after your stuff.
  17. The power just come back on less than 5 minutes ago I kid you not. See my Solar readout below from today/now. I'm 2 days of installing a back up power supply with batteries and will have 15kwh up my sleeve o/night and more than I can use with solar charging batteries in the day... Including Air con whole house. Every area different why it drops out... Everything from build up of dust on insulators to wasp nest to tree branch's to lightning and on and on... I think our drop out was lightning just a couple of hours ago.. In 3 days time I will kick back with the lights on and A/C while it is down...
  18. Depends on what you need the Honey for. Manuka is well known for its healing properties. Heaps of choices on Lazada.
  19. In the mothly Graph Yeild was 1013.012Kwh which is the same as 1.013Gwh. It sounds like you have made more when you use Gwh instead of Kwh. ⚡
  20. Ozz planning a similar HVDC Solar project...errr umm the Pommy cable is 2360miles=3798km. The Ozzy cable will be 3,800km=2361miles. If I was Trump I would be doing another Term in office with that number!!
  21. This month just managed to produce 1.013Gwh even though we had continual cloudy rainy days. The rain has been like the Forest Gump Movie. It turned off 3 days ago but still heaps of cloud. Averaged 33Kwh per day. 53% self sufficient... Exported 583Kwh free to PEA!!!... My Fy Bin was 2,448bht for the month!! Consumption has dropped off also. If I had the PEA meter I would have got 1,282Bht @2.2Bht p/kwh... Don't mention the war!!!!! Have been side tracked with Fellang men's secret business so batteries have been on hold... It's on this weeks to do list to make it happen Managed to break a daily production record in amongst the rain and cloud with room for improvement. Cooked 52.62Kwh for the day. The following day the complete opposite. Such is the life of a Solar Farmer.... Hopefully I will update soon with the battery installation chapter...
  22. Nothing wrong with the Thai national coffee brew. Gaffe Borran. Bring to boil let sit for 4 minutes..pour into your personal coffee cup straining with an old sock as you go. Sweeten with Nom Waan making sure you put a little extra in if nobody's watching. Bonus wiping finger around top of can to get the dribbly bits that will go to waste anyway. I luv my morning coffee...
  23. Your one of the lucky ones that got the government discount last bill..
