A work permit must be applied for by the new school and application approval letter be issued.

how long can this take to do?

Then you will need a termination letter stating the last day you are working.

This is being made for me now so not an issue.

The school doesn't seem to know what they're doing. Yesterday they insisted I go to the labour office with them to get a new work permit, despite me telling them I hadn't cancelled my old one yet. Then the labour office told them I needed a waiver from Krusapa. They then asked me why I didn't bring my waiver with me.

  2. My work permit and non-b are both being cancelled together on April 30th, with a letter from the school

My new school has all the documents ready for the work permit but have yet to contact Krusapa, they also insist it can all be done at the labour office without having to go immigration

This all seems a bit off to me - can the same documentation be used to make a new non-b at immigration, or do I need to go onto a covid tourist visa first?

What you are really saying is you have no assets of your own.

You are saving US $3,000 a year?

Your net worth is limited to your savings.

No credit, no ability to borrow money.

How much is your health insurance every month?

Health insurance is covered through work, I wouldn’t choose to work in a school that didn’t include it.

Plan to build a house soon which will be cheaper than renting the condo. I do have the ability to borrow money here, I don’t back home.

My main point is I’d be far worse off in every way possible if living back home on an average income.

I’m saving money here which I was unable to do living in London.

The situation isn’t ideal, but it’s about choosing the lesser of two evils.

  4. I live reasonably comfortable in Isaan on just over 30k baht, though looking to get fully qualified and a higher wage soon.

Put aside just under 100k a year into savings

Live in a nice condo with gym and pool, can afford to eat and drink out every night. Room is cleaned and laundry done for a small fee. No bills or 1-year commitments to worry about. GF on a similar wage so doesn't need to be rented.

For comparison, I was living in London before on what worked out 85k a month after taxes.

House sharing with 3 random people in an ex-council flat, 1-year commitment. Gas, water, electric, tv license bills to worry about, housemates not willing to pay. No GF unless I wanted a fat one. Couldn't afford to eat out so had to cook myself in a sh!thole kitchen. Queuing to use the bathroom or do my laundry.

Was spending more money than I was earning. So f'ing grim when thinking back to it.

  5. I’m wanting to move a mattress to another house, what’s the cheapest way to do it?

Distance is about 100km within Khon Kaen province

Are there postal options rather than hiring a van and driving it there?

Mattress is just 2 months old (7000 baht) so not sure if it’s easier just to sell it and buy another..

Put a couple of bits of plywood between the two mattresses to negate the action of the bottom one.

Or remove the wooden base of the bed and store the bottom mattress below the bed. Reassemble and put the new new mattress on the wooden base

thanks, i'll look into these options

You should have just bought a topper. No way to make a soft mattress firmer

    The joys of renting!

I tried 3 different toppers over a 2-year period, all were useless because the mattress has no springs

    Lotus companion I - 3000 baht

Cheap Lazada topper - 700 baht

King of Topper (Facebook page with 250k likes) 1300 baht

None did the job, the lotus one I was able to sell and get some money back

Nothing wrong with renting, I’m just a we’re all just guests in this country..

  8. After a few years of sleeping on a rock hard cheap mattress I decided to splash out on an expensive softer spring mattress

The rented place i'm living has said the current mattress has to be kept there as they have nowhere to store it, so i've put the new mattress on top of it

The new one is far too soft and i've woken up with joint pain all over my back. I tried putting the new mattress on the floor and it's a lot firmer, so the existing mattress underneath could be the main cause.

Is there any solution to this?
