What are the rules regards to employment? Can I obtain a work permit the same way as a Non-O obtained within Thailand?
Also, when doing the border runs every 3 months, do I have to travel back to the same area I got the non-o every time and visit the embassy?
Thanks

Yep, I got mine active, it saves me a fortune on many purchases not just my AIS account.
I got halfway through the application and gave up, still got activated 10 mins later, T.I.T
-
Nope, only accepting numeric digits as address
(I know this is an old thread but would still like to know how to activate it, would save me 500 baht a month on AIS bills)

All they need to do is enforce the existing law but that would be logical and This is Thailand.
easier to just make a website/app that sells them for 80 baht
difficult to enforce and bigger fish to fry

Amitriptyline can be bought OTC too, loose pills, very cheap, they also have Nortriptyline
-
the cheapest pregabalin OTC I've found is 10x 75mg for 100 baht (10 baht a pill), a brand called 'Precious'
never tried getting a prescription at a government hospital, would be interested to know if this particular drug works out cheaper

Has anyone been to Savannakhet to do a border run recently?
-
Need to get a tourist visa, has anyone tried either of these countries?
Normally go to Savannakhet, Laos but not sure they're open and issuing tourist visas
Ubon joe is saying Phnom Penh is a 5 working days wait to get it...

it's busy but mostly Indians

When you are 40th in line waiting and Bangkok Bank only has one teller who is taking 30 minutes to deal with a customer depositing company payroll.
90% of those in the queue are simply withdrawing cash as they don't want to pay the 200 baht a year ATM fee (no lie)

would like to hear his side of the story, could have been justified

Is Penang open yet?
Just need a tourist visa now, non-b will come later
Still don't know the best option, was hoping to go somewhere for just a 1 night stay

I can't say re Laos costs and visa requirements.
Cambodia: visa to enter will cost you $36 if you get it online (which saves a full page in your passport) and I think $30 if you do it on arrival. To get a new Thai visa, will need at least 3 working days (be sure to check the list of public holidays). Tourist visa supposedly requires a return flight booked, non-B doesn't. I don't know if you can get around this. There are many agents who will do the visa for you and only a $1 extra charge. Prices for the thai visas likley more or less the same in Laos and Cambodia.
Plenty of reasonably priced hotels. Not as many good foreign food restaurants as pre-COVID but still some, and good prices. You can enter by land or by air, but land entry entails then a long ride to reach Phnom Penh, really not worth it IMO except for those traveling to Siem Reap/Angkor Wat.
I suspect Laos overall will be cheaper but wait for someone who has actual figures.
lots of helpful info, thanks

Will you be going someplace to apply for a visa at a embassy or consulate?
Or are you just wanting to leave and re-enter the country visa exempt?
need to go to the embassy to get tourist or non-b (not sure at this time), can't be a visa exempt entry
would Laos be cheaper than Cambodia?
@Sheryl(think this covers your question too)

Needing to do a visa run the first half of June, at the request of my next employer
What's the best option from Phuket? Could the Thailand Pass be a issue with booked travel dates? (taking too long to process within a short space of time)

I'm planning a trip home to the UK which could be for up to a year
One thing of concern is the medicine I've been taking here for the past 5 years. I take diazepam, tramadol and gabapentin on a daily basis for various types of pain. These 3 drugs are all class C controlled medicines in the UK.
The diazepam is prescribed and i've kept every packet since starting, but the tramadol and gabapentin are bought over the counter without prescription. My prescription history in the UK should show diazepam.
What's the best approach to this? I've thought about going to separate hospitals to get 1-3 month supplies, or would it be better to bite the bullet and see a doctor in the UK and get them? This could be a long wait to see a GP and a possibility of them saying no..

Now that it's legal and for sale, can Kratom be used for withdrawal of Tramadol
Been trying to get off it for a while now (150mg a day) but the lockdown has made it more difficult
Are there any better alternatives if not? Tapering doesn't seem to be working

Is there a thread that breaks down all the info and how much it costs?
I see Etihad are doing cheap flights for under 10k one-way, but not sure what else is involved…

Its usually a flat 300 baht for the month. You can request them to prorate it but if they don't I wouldn't make a fuss.
250 baht for electric. Are you using candles for light?
nope the electric was for half a month I think
possibly at a reduced rate for covid, not sure..

In his OP he said the electric bill was direct bill from PEA but the water bill was not and came from the condo offices. My guess is he is billed at the condo rate which most likely is an inflated rate compared to the PWA rate. Ask the condo office what the rate they charge is and what the condo meter reading was for that half month.
I lived in a condo that charged as much as 55 baht per unit of water. PWA rate is somewhere around 12 baht per unit.
This has turned out to be correct
Electric is government rate, water is a condo rate of 25 baht per unit

Hopefully this will be used as part of the free vaccine campaign and not sent straight to the private hospitals

This seems to be the case
Took a photo of the water meter the past 3 consecutive days and haven’t seen any movement, something is off
Ive asked for meter readings but been told the woman is off on holidays until tomorrow

Found the meter and have taken a photo, I’ll take another one today after 24 hours has passed
The gym/pool is a separate business nearby that we get free use of, so would be very surprised if it was that

thanks, so does that effectively make it 150 days every time I would need to do the border run?
