Street food is typically made using lots of low quality oil, salt, sugar and MSG. 7/11 meals are ultra-processed, containing little nutritional value.

If you really want to develop a more healthy eating habit try renting a studio with a kitchenette and start cooking yourself.

Avoid refined sugar, white flour, salt and oil. Eat lots of fresh veggies, fruits and nuts. Do not fry, rather braise or steam. Use white rice (you can get a basic rice cooker for, I guess, 200-300 THB and a pretty decent one from 1000 THB) as a base for most of your meals. If you don't like rice in the mornings, switch to oatmeal. Try eating 5 smaller meals per day. Eat your last meal 3-4 hours before sleep, and make it smallish and light. Avoid anything processed, especially ready meals. Drink lot's of water, green tea, herbal teas. If you are a coffee person, drink black coffee, without milk or sugar. Soft drinks, snacks, crisps etc. are a big NO.

thanks - I have a rice cooker, i wonder if everything could be done with that?

how would something like this look: -

breakfast - rice with eggs and vegetables, black coffee

snack - fruit, nuts or seeds

lunch - rice with chicken and vegetables

snack - fruit, nuts or seeds

    dinner - chicken soup

  2. About 5 years ago I bought some Crest Whitening Strips and these worked astonishing well, same results as a dentist would give.

I bought some recently from Lazada and they did nothing, though they were sold under a new name. Not sure if I bought fakes, or they've stopped selling the strong strips due to safety concerns.

Whats the best option these days? Do Thai dentists charge much?

My original post was about young foreigners who are in Thailand between 20'-40', the prime working age to build their career. Seem many here are without a job.

How can anyone afford life in any country without income sources?

    What about the future?

It is unimaginable for me and that is the reason I am asking this question.

i'm mid 30's, teaching for 30k a month, wife is a government worker so I get all the benefits including free health and life insurance, and she's on a salary that never stops rising.

rent and bills is about 5000 a month which I pay as the wife is still supporting her family, she has a car/bike use for free

next plan is to build a house and pay outright with savings money, no more renting

should something go wrong with the teaching job there is the option to work online and go onto a marriage visa

I still manage to save money at the end of each month and have no debts from back home

not being able to afford red wine is the biggest issue for me

  4. I'm trying to work out the TCT system.

Here's a friend of mine, he's worked at 5 schools in 5 years, but has 2 different reference numbers.

Delaying doing the course is surely the best option at the moment until it's absolutely nessesary.

When they start to struggle finding new teachers, it might be that they scrap the waiver system. Living costs are becoming higher and more people are teaching online now.

wouldn't it make more sense just to give it up altogether, to learn to move away from the habit?

It was actually my decision to start taking Antabuse as I was concerned by the weight gain from beer, wasn’t drinking a huge amount

Im not even sure it’s prescribed anymore

I tried a Heineken 0% last night at home and quite liked it. Maybe I’ll see if I can find some diazepam to mix it with

  6. Applying for UK visitor visa for girlfriend and concerned about the lack of evidence we are able to provide.

Currently the only documents that prove we're in a genuine relationship are various flight e-tickets. All other rent, hotel bookings, and bills the past 2-years of relationship have been under my name. I've heard photos are not accepted.

Will the following circumstances help/hinder with the application?

    • Girlfriend has had a government job the past 8 years, and is only allowed 2 weeks off at a time, which is how long we wish to travel for
    • She has 2 loans - one for the house she built, one for her car
    • She has 1 son
    • My father will be a guarantor, and will be providing accomadation for the full 2 weeks stay, spending money and flight tickets
    • Both our Thai bank accounts will only have 20-30k in them
    • She will have a new and unused passport, my passport shows 3-years living in Thailand, and I also have a work permit for a job I will returning to

I've never understood why anyone who is very unwell would think, "I know I'll seek a diagnosis and have treatment prescribed for me on a Thai Visa forum."  Oh wait, I can think of one reason ... it's not the principle, it's the money.

180 baht for the consultation, blood test and medicine

    hardly expensive
