The OP writes the Phoney War as lasting from Sep. 3, 1939 (when France and England declared war on Germany) to May 10, 1940, when Germany invaded France and the low countries. However I wouldn't call the destruction of Poland (Sept and much of Oct. 1939) or the invasion of Norway (April 1940), and England's response, a phoney war. So rather than an 8-month lull, it was about a 5-month lull during winter, hardly a good time to launch new hostilities. Just FYI.

Neither I nor any of my Thai and farang friends in Phuket, Chiang Mai, Udonthani, or Pattaya personally know anyone who has or had COVID-19. The current daily infection rate is 1 per 2.3 million people, so it's not surprising.

I agree. Keep in mind that most of the money being doled out to businesses is in the form of loans to be repaid. That will slow a market rebound but forestall hyper inflation, as will continued high unemployment and real estate deflation. As to money granted to individuals, a small tax increase will recoup those funds.

500 baht to get into the city and 200 to get out. Have it ready as you pass the officer. That will show who is on necessary business. No other papers necessary. In Pattays it always costs more to get in.

I expect no less.
