Adumbration wrote about getting residence permit in countries when you are 'married' to a citizen of this country.

In all civilized countries the foreign spouse will get resident permit in this case as it is a human right for married couples to live together.

I know how it works and what it cost because I have been through it with my Thai wife to become a "RESIDENT" of Australia and her residency can be rejected by the Australian Immigration at any time during the application process and even after the application is approved it is only a temporary visa for 2 years at which anytime there is a breach of the visa conditions then the visa is cancelled and the spouse must leave the country

Just a footnote. I have had no difficulty with twice gaining US Tourist Visas for my ex-girlfriend. Experiences do vary.

try getting a "Residents Visa" for your partner into Australia and not a "Tourist Visa". There is a big difference between "Tourist Visa" and "Resident Visa" in every country. This thread is about "Residency" not visiting "Tourists"

Further, when my Thai son changed his family name to mine (with a letter from the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry) he was asked if 'he had a Thai passport'.

    Son answered 'Yes'.

Ministry guy said you will need to go to the Thai passport office and get a new passport and make sure you take all four relevant documents with you and please do it quickly.

A bit confused my son asked 'Will my new passport show my old family name and my new family?'

Answer 'NO, only your new family name will show on your new passport, but both family names will show forever in the official Thai passports database'.

I don't recall why but the ministry official also said 'both family name show up if an immigration official from any country accesses the Thai passport database'.

For a few years now every passport in the world has a chip embedded in them that has every bit of information including name changes so now it is not a case of another country accessing the Thai passport database, the information is on the chip in the passport. This saves a lot of time when doing a check on a person trying to enter a country

Totally agree but you missed one very important point, relating to the folding stuff in your wallet, it seems to solve most

    "administrative problems" !

You seem to miss one important point and that is you are at a busy international entry point where there are lots of camera's around and it would be too risky for any IO there to do anything like what you suggest, it is not a simple local immigration office

  5. Think about this. What documents do you need to produce to get a passport in your home country? Birth Certificate is one of those documents and even if you legally change your name your Birth Certificate still carries you registered name at birth and that can never be changed on your BC and that information along with your name change is encrypted in the chip on your passport and it does not matter what country in the world you go to they all scan the chip on your passport which shows them your name at birth and the name you are using now. So bingo here is a person who has thought that they could enter our country simply by changing their name and getting a new passport but on scanning their passport it shows that they were banned from entering our country under a different name which is also connected to this passport. What are we going to do with this person that wants to try and cheat our system and enter our country illegally whilst fully knowing that they have been banned? Out with the handcuffs and off to the detention centre for a hearing on the case and the verdict is this person is guilty of illegal entry to our country so you are sentenced to 5 years in prison after which you will be deported and a big red deported stamp placed in your nice new passport for all the world to see until you change your name and get a new passport again and never allowed to re-enter our country ever again

  6. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Don't you get a "Marriage" extension if you are the legal parent of the children even after the death or divorce of your wife because there is no other type of visa or extension that covers this type of situation. If you are married and with your wife you need to have your wife with you but if there is "No" wife then maybe you will need to take the children with you to show immigration

  7. I buy mine from the 20 baht shop and they have all the different sizes so it is a case of if you do not want to do the math's then just go and buy a size bag and if it does not fit then buy the next size. At 20 baht a packet you can always find a use for the wrong size bags

  8. By the sounds of things you are looking at long term residence. The first thing that you need to do is work out what part of the world you want to live in then check the immigration laws for all the countries in that area to see if you qualify for a long term visa. A friend of mine was in Vietnam on a short term tourist visa and he returned to Thailand and he decided to move to Vietnam on a long term visa but while he was making up his mind Vietnam changed their immigration laws and he could not get a long term visa anymore.

This clown is a politician in name only, a health minister?? His only degree is in engineering.

But you have an unelected (well elected by other generals) PM whose only "degree's" came from a Military Academy, and yet he is running the country! No wonder Thailand is known as a Banana Republic.

Hey, come on possum don't down grade the banana republics to the same level as this lot. The banana republics don't deserve that

but weeks and weeks ago ANUTIN.....stated that there IS NO LAW !!!!!

The rules linked to a state of emergency take precedent of the countries laws.

Do you know what it takes to pass a law? It takes weeks for the parliament to sit and argue the pro's and con's and then it goes to a vote and if passed it then goes to the King for approval and if he agrees with it then it is gazetted in the Royal Gazette which makes it law and then the same procedure is followed to rescind that law. So Anutin is correct that there is "NO LAW" but under the state of emergency there are rules put into place that are the same as laws but when the state of emergency finishes so do those rules and the current state of emergency is not controlled by Anutin it is controlled by the CCSA and the meetings are chaired by the PM Prayut not Anutin who does not even attend these meetings so it is typical running off at the mouth again Anutin and this is not the first time he has spouted off at the mouth which causes a lot of confusion.

Unfortunately, there have been a number of contradictory announcements recently... So, no one, not even the police are now certain what the rules are !!

On February 1st 2022, we have an announcement from Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reminding everyone there are fines in place for those who do not wear a mask in public

On February 3rd, 2022, we have an announcement from Thailand’s Public Health Minister (Anutin, who is also Dept. PM) confirming that there are no laws forcing people to wear face masks.

    Welcome to Thailand !!!!!

    https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thailands-mask-mandate-still-in-place-violators-face-fines-up-to-20000-baht-ccsa

And then on February 4 this same Health Minister had to admit that he was not notified (which means that this idiot stuffed up again) by the CCSA of the result of  a meeting which took place and the results of that meeting was published in the Royal Gazette in June 2021 which states that "face masks are required to be worn in public". First-time violators face a fine of up to 1,000 baht and the fines could go up to 20.000 baht with repeat offenders. This mandatory rule is still in force in the Royal Gazette and has never been rescinded, so it is still in force.

You can remember it any way you want, doesn't make it right.

The first vaccines into Thailand were AZ from South Korea in Feb 2021, followed by the Chinese.

The Thai government didn't get their order for AZ because of a dispute between the UK and EU, the order was diverted to India but got caught up in an export ban. In the end they had to wait for the Thai production facility to start up in June 2021.

COVAX wouldn't have made any difference, GDP was too high to be at the front of the queue and at that point in time the only vaccine COVAX had available was the Chinese.

Even Australia was court up in that EU export ban of AZ. Australia's order was diverted to EU countries after Australia had even paid for the AZ.

Left the country = processed past exit customs and handed to shipping company.  If the shipping company is short staffed due to the crazy Covid situation in China it'll remain there until they get to it and get it moving again.  No lying, just the way things worked out.

But to send you an email stating that the delay is because the "border is closed" is lying and this is the point that I am trying to make about this issue. If Lazada state that the delay is because of staff shortages at their distribution depots because of Covid then people would accept that but to send emails stating that the delay is because the border is closed when it is not closed is a straight out lie and does nothing for Lazada's credibility

Same here. 2 products but from same seller in China. Took a month or so for 1 to arrive, and then that same email as OP received. I presume seller was out of stock to not send 2, and now package stuck at some key border point OR the seller just have not re-stocked and send the 2nd product yet - but updated the system that it is shipped. That then leads to auto email about "closed border points" from Lazada.

Both of mine were packed and shipped at the same time, they both went through Chinese customs and the both left China on the way to Thailand but only 1 gets delivered and I am told the other is delayed because the border is closed. What border is closed if both packages have departed from China then both packages have crossed over the Chinese border. The only borders that are left to cross is Thai-Laos and Thai-Cambodia and both these borders are open for trade

Possible cenario, they arrived and were added to the mountain at the sortation centre and one got processed quicker than the other in that pile. Have you ever seen the way they do it, its very basic and literally thrown in a heap ! Then sorted into smaller heaps.etc.

I understand that but the thing is what Lazada has stated to be the cause of the delay. In the email Lazada has stated that it is because the border is closed and with what I have here shows that what they are stating is a load of BS

  16. Here is something else that shows that the border was not closed. The package that was delivered is shown to have arrived at Thailand Customs at 14:00 on March 4 and the package that has not been delivered is shown to have departed China at 13:58 March 4. When was the border closed?
