Since the switch from the original Thailand-only ThaiVisa over to the broader ASEANNOW multi-country format, I have also noticed changes relating to the underlying mechanics/back-end of the system. Editing and deleting posts seems to be restricted. The forum now serves as an archive which is 'written in stone', a little like how facebook retain all the data even when an account is deactivated/removed. The key purpose/rationale for this? Open for speculation. So it would be advisable not to go 'keyboard warrior' during times of lowered inhibition such as when drunk!

Your last sentence does not apply because I was not going keyboard warrior during times of lowered inhibition such as when drunk as you presume incorrectly as I do not drink. The actual fact turned out to be a timeframe issue for doing edits.

    So Songkran is off?

You need to go and see a psychiatrist and get some help quickly and stop playing with that Jingathing. Will Songkran be off, what a stupid thing to think. Can't you remember last year when this government did not want to appear greedy and selfish and keep this Covid-19 to themselves in Bangkok so they just let everyone share it around all over Thailand. Just think a minute about what Thailand would have been like if they had of stopped Songkran travel last year. How many people would still be alive? how many people would still have jobs? how many businesses would still be here and open? How many people would not have had to endure this virus in the hospitals? How many people would have been able to get other medical treatments instead of being turned away because the hospitals were over run with Covid-19 patients? Of cause Songkran will be cancelled this year just like it was last year.

Weird, I've bought loads of stuff recently and even messages from China were English, but easy to translate if need be, use Google Translate, copy paste, or Google Lens

The message that I sent them was in English and Thai but they could not send me an answer in Thai even so that I could copy/paste to Google Translate. Why Sandisk Flagship Store could not answer I really don't know and why would I have to contact Lazada Customer Service to ask a question to their seller?

  4. I just purchased 4 items on 12 Dec from a seller on LazMall on the 12.12 sales and it showed the delivery dates of 13 Dec - 14 Dec which I knew would be impossible but it did not worry me at the time. It also showed that my order was "to pack". Well my order continued "to pack" every day until 16 Dec when it changed to "shipped". In the mean time I tried to chat with the seller to ensure that my order was not going to be cancelled as this has happened a few times by Lazada because of the delivery dates but I could not chat with the seller so I sent them a message and the reply was quite interesting. The reply to my message was

"We apologize for the inconvenience, because of this channel of Lazada Thailand, currently supports information for Thai version only. for english information or In respect of an order or delivery of products /refund / return or other cases, foreigner customers can contact Lazada customer Support Department. At https://www.lazada.co.th/helpcenter/ in the chat box, type "Chat with staff" or contact the phone number 02 018 0000 For English please press 9"

The seller was the Sandisk Flagship Store but I could not talk to them because I do not speak Thai

  5. Well gentlemen here is an automatic system update for you. I was away for the last couple of nights and was on a different computer but when I returned home this morning I was going to try some of the suggestions so I turned the laptop on and surprise, surprise it fired up into the following screen. "windows is updating" then the percentage sign and "do not turn the computer off" so I let it do its thing and when it finished I tried to log in the normal way on the normal screen and it worked so everything is back to normal. I think that there must have been a bit of feedback to Microsoft and their gliche so they got their rear end into gear and fixed the thing. So thank you gentlemen for all you help, I will remember a lot of the things that a lot of you have told me incase something like this ever happens again. Merry Christmas to you all.

My experience with the Home MS software is there is no stated specific amount of time to postpone the updates - it is possible sometimes to put it off that day but eventually it forces install - often long before 1 month.

I have just gone into settings on this computer and it states under the Windows updates that you can only pause the Windows updates for 7 days but I have also seen somewhere that you can pause the updates for a maximum of 35 days but I cannot remember where it was

  7. You used to be able to go to Savannakhet and get a 1 year multi entry marriage visa but you had to leave Thailand every 90 days (border run) instead of being able to do a 90 day report. It was quite handy for some as depending where you lived it was easier to do the border run than muck around going to an immigration office and doing a 90 day report. I used it as a day out and to do some shopping at Villa Market at Udon Thani for some good old western foods on the way back home

Install Linux.  Then add a Virtual Machine application like Oracle's VirtualBox.

Install WIndows 10 in VirtualBox as a virtual machine.  Get your Windows set up the way you want and then make cloned copies.  Then when Windows Update screws up your installation, you can simply bring up the cloned copy and you're back in business within a couple of minutes.  it will make your life a whole lot easier.  MS Windows is a poorly designed OS.

The problem is that I cannot get into the computer to install Linux

Try opening in safe mode and restore to a previous backup point to unwind the upgrade, and then turn off auto update.

Mind you, the chances of there being a valid restoration point available is akin to winning the Thai lottery. I did it successfully recently and had a hard on for a week!

Ok, I tried opening the laptop via the Bios and I used the ESC key whilst turning the laptop on but it would not open the Bios so that I could select "Safe Mode". It just went straight to go into Windows with the same result as before.

  10. On 7th December when I shutdown one of my laptops it went into the automatic Microsoft Update before closing down and the following morning I started the laptop and it went through the usual update procedure before it opened the programs but when it came to the screen to sign in it was different because instead of the box under my name that I put my password in there was just a sign that said "sign in" and when I click on that it says "Just a moment" and the usual little wheel rotates but then it goes back to the "Sign in" screen and the computer does not open. I contacted Microsoft Support on December 8 and they told me it was a gliche in the system and to wait for 1 hour and try again. Well I waited and nothing changed so I packed the laptop away as it cannot be used and this morning December 10 I got the laptop out and tried it but it is still the same as December 8. Laptop unusable. Anyone else have any problems with Microsoft Updates?

  11. Anyone who lives in the Khon Kaen area or is not afraid to travel from places like Kalasin or Mahasarakham then there is free walk in vaccinations at Wufu Market until 3 December, which is located behind Starbucks Coffee on Mittraphap Road just north of Makro and McDonalds. It opens at 08:00 but if you do not want to be on the end of a long queue then I would advise you to arrive at 07:00 and it is for both Thai and Foreigners. The vaccinations are 1: Sinovac x 2 shots 2: Astra-Zeneca x 2 shots 3: Astra-Zenica x 1 shot with Pfizer x 1 shot 4: Pfizer x 2 shots

  12. I got Pfizer shot 1 on 27th Sept and shot 2 on 18th Oct at Bangkok Hospital in Khon Kaen for free, but you had to register at the hospital and it was for foreigners only and it was limited numbers available and since then, nothing. What I will do with the 2 Moderna shots is go in April and have 1 booster shot and then go again in October and have the other as a booster shot if needed. I've had both my paid for Moderna shots that way unless they decide that you must have your 2 shots in a short period of time.
