I received an email today saying my passport is ready collection in Chiang Mai. The docs were submitted 20th December.
Maybe this gives anyone who is applying an approximate timeframe.

Go to Foodland...they seem to always have it. I have bought it there all the time. I don't see it in Villa or Tops or even the gourmet markets. This is the Foodland in Patpong by the way but others should carry it.
Closest Foodland near me is Ramintra and has never had it. Could you tell me the producer so I can ask.
Thank you.

My son handed in the documents in Chiang Mai today and received email confirmation from VFS that it will be posted to HMPO.
Thanks for the info.

Would it no be just as cheap to use a local agent rather than pay for travel and accommodation?
I am not sure if VFS will allow a third party to collect your new passport, if they do not you need to look at two trips.
BTW what is the "interview" for?
I am unsure how a local agent can get me a new passport. Correct me if I am wrong but does the agent apply on your behalf in the UK?
I'm really unsure about procedures.
I thought the 'interview' was for security purposes.
I have collected passports for friends so l know that's possible.

I have just received a reply regarding the interview in Bangkok to renew my British passport. The earliest date is 12th Jan 22.
I'm willing to travel to Chiang Mai as l want to do the interview asap.
Does anyone have the VFS Chiang Mai email address as l can't find it online. (The phone number is the same as BKK and out of order)
Many thanks.

Renewed my passport a couple of years ago at Trendy Building Bangkok. I do not recall any difficulty with proof of address, but I have yellow book and Thai driving license. I recall that VFS office was semi-chaos, very crowded, so no surprise they do not answer their phone. i think that you really have to go there in person to get anything done, but quite efficient once you are there
I will go on Friday to their office as their telephone is not in service and no email response.
VFS doesn't open daily according to google maps.

I have just renewed my British passport and was advised and did the following to provide "Proof of Address in English"!
Obtain "Three Months Bank statement(s) from the Bank (BKK in my case) showing my address in Thailand in English.
When I went to the bank I took a letter written in Thai and English which simply said "Please provide a bank statement for the past three months which shows my address in English please. I showed this to one of the Tellers who told me in excellent English that she could provide such letter and that it would cost, I think 200Baht and I would get it in 30 minutes, which it was.
Many thanks, l will try this today.
Can l ask, did you renew via VFS Bangkok?
I have tried many times to call them and am still waiting for an appointment slot.
Thanks.

My friend up here in Chiang Mai just applied for one ,
I signed confirming his identity , at the VFS ? is that
the name ,the company that acts on part of the British
Government, they have one in Bangkok too.
Going to take 12 weeks he said , couple years ago I just
sent mine back to UK with form signed, and had my
daughter post it in for me, receive it, and send it back
to me, at the time there was no office in Chiang Mai,
and I did not want to do a trip to Bangkok.
regards Worgeordie P.S. you don't have driving license,or
you will have to get letter from
immigration confirming address.
Many thanks, yes I have a driving license (5 yes), I will check with immigration here in Bangkok.

I need to get a new British Passport, however I'm unsure how to provide proof of my address here in Bangkok. The utility bills are in my wife's name.
Has anyone successfully got a new British passport recently?
Thank you.

I think they darken it with cocoa or other additives. I ordered 2kg of the cheaper one. Has a lot of good reviews so can't be too bad ???? Thanks for the advice guys.
Kindly post a photo of the loaf Kenny, I often get inspired reading this section of Thaivisa.
Cheers.

You'll get an extension of stay until your passport expires, before then you will need to transfer it and then get a new extension in your new passport.
No, you cant do the application as you suggest. You have plenty of time to apply for a new passport in time for March next year. If you send it to the UK not only are you applying fraudulently (perhaps not a big issue) but also you are stuck in Thailand without a passport.
Thank you very much, so upon receiving my new passport I go to immigration for the remaining months of the 1 year visa stamped at no additional cost?

My retirement visa runs out 16 November 2021 but l just realized my UK passport runs out 22nd March 2022.
Will I get new visa until my passport runs out or can l get a new stamp in my new passport?
Can l send my passport via DHL to someone in the UK who can then apply on my behalf to make the process faster?
Thank you for any guidance.

I saw some mackerel (I think as a shiny blue back) though smaller in the market.
Didn't pick any up but may if anyone has any ways to cook it.
I thought of grilling....any other ways or recipes?
As a kid I remember it was full of bones and would catch 5 or 6 on a line of feathers.
Cheers.

The video/test are on this DLT website including link to the apps.

Please report back once you're done at DLT Chatuchak, as from what you're wife is saying it seems you may not have to do the reaction & peripheral vision tests etc.?
Thanks Mark.
I renewed my 5 year driving license at Chatuchak today.
Arrived 07:15am outside building 4. Right hand tent for foreigners (maximum 20) and only 12 waiting when DLT staff arrived 08:00am.
I hadn't watched the video so watched it on my phone, video is 60 minutes, but it stops intermittently with a couple of questions.
Passed the test questions at the end and went inside for a queue number.
Had to do color test and brake test only. Up and down a couple of floors with paperwork, then waited around for license and left at 09:50am.

I'm going tomorrow for renewal of 5 years driving license in Chatuchak BKK.
My wife finally got through and was told only the first 20 applications for foreigners. The lady said need to watch a video online first. Then they can give me a new license in 5 minutes.
Is this video in an app does anyone know? And which app as there are several.
(The operator hung up the phone before we could ask)

Thank you,
Ive only found Granny Smiths here, never found a Bramley yet.
Doubt I'll ever find a crab apple..
