If you can avoid being reported to 'checked in' at a hotel you can save yourself the trouble of re-reporting yourself when you're home, for the immigration office that insist on it
say you had a weekend away and the hotel reported you moved there say in Phuket or whatever and you didn't report that you 'moved' back to your usual place, would this be a problem when you present the initial TM30 at immigration that might not match where they had you last in their system?
That's exactly why I cancelled a few holidays away from home. Not wanting to get into trouble with "late" and different TM.30 reports... Well done, Thailand!

So the survey found out that, thanks to students reading their assigned textbooks, reading "on average" isn't doing so badly... That's like saying each New Zealander has 5 sheep and 2 cows grazing at home in the front-yard, or that each and every Thai has bank deposits of 255,000 baht (all deposits divided by 70 million)...

Invest in infrastructure and transportation (not just in Bangkok), get rid of overcharging, scams, and taxi mafias. Train personnel in foreign languages and customer service, etc, etc. - Why should one travel to 'second-tier cities' if quality of basically everything away from Bangkok and the few costal spots is 'poor' and inadequate for foreign tourists? Not to mention 30- and 90-day reports one has to worry about when travelling to other places...

That's old news. After all, they got rid of the snowbirds many years ago, before giving preference to group tours from China and India. Obviously, they never figured out that expats and snowbirds leave more money in the country than one-week, one-time Chinese tourists...

An indictment and an arrest is one thing, a conviction and time in prison is quite another. Just think of the big joke, how many on this forum want to wager he'll never see a day in prison?
He is as guilty as the night is long.
Not to mention the Thais that are involved in the scam centers based in Shan State.

It is so corrupt because most of the countries have dictators at the helm......the curse of humanity and will lead to catastrophe, as we're already seeing with russia.
Most of Asia is corrupt, even Singapore. Few exceptions (Japan, South Korea?, Taiwan? ...)

You should either have refused to pay or paid under written protest and taken legal action. That may seem a bit drastic but as long as we keep taking it up the rear end, they'll keep giving it.
I've been successful in 2 court actions although admittedly not against Immigration. I know a lawyer who has taken action against them though and won - twice.
Refuse to pay Immigration fees? Yeah, that will work... I protested though, telling them the one who was supposed to do it according to Thai law, my landlady, had outright refused to do it. I had even done it online by myself instead, but it wasn't accepted (even though it had been accepted online!) But they weren't interested, but just wanted to charge me as the tenant. I was actually there to do my 90-day report, so, yes, screwed either which way. Fortunately, I have left Thailand recently. Will probably stay less than 90 days in the future each time. Good riddance, Thailand...

But the money quite probably goes to a Thai. They are quick to deport workers and ignore the Thais that brought them here and hired them in order to pay lower wages out.
It's all about taking advantage of foreigners. When my landlady refused to file a TM.30 about me, I was the one who got fined at Immigration, while the IO gave a rat's a** about the (Thai) person who was required by law to file such a report. I'm very sure that my landlady wasn't and won't be fined one baht. TiT!

Anyway, delusional.
It's all about money, few rights, and ripping foreign employees off in Thailand.

Bottom line: Thailand needs some serious reforms.
Not to mention that illegal Thai workers in other countries are given cute labels like 'little ghosts' in Thai media, while illegal workers in Thailand are punished heavily as 'criminals' and 'criminal gangs'...

Here's a novel idea... if you are going to get so sheetfaced as to not remember how many beers or drinks that you have... pay as you go... for all you Thai bashers... tabs are run up all over the world... usually far greater than the extra 200 baht that may have been added in this case.
One can (mostly) avoid that by looking at the bill(s) as soon as they arrive. Fortunately, people tried to rip me off as soon as I set foot in Thailand the very first time. Having never been to a developing country before, I learnt my lesson quickly, which helped me later, not just in Thailand, but also other countries. Hardly ever had a problem in bars, as the staff sees me looking at the bill when it arrives, so they don't even try to paddle my bills...

It's more than a third of the total... it is that much.
It's all about the perception. Traveller: "I can afford living abroad for months at a time." - Thai IO: "This can't be right. I only get 1 week holiday per year. And my savings are hardly enough to buy a bottle of Lao khao... How come, foreigners can come here so many times?"

Come to Thailand one time a year and stay for 6 months
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted · Edited by StayinThailand2much
If you do this for a while, i.e. staying like this for 6 months every year, you might encounter IOs at the border who may question you 'why you come here so often', and 'what you are doing in Thailand', and, you could, possibly, be denied entry at some point.
