  1. I was not stating how in reality it would work. At that point I assumed the guy was on extension to a non O marriage. In that situation a divorce means your permission of stay ends. In reality a lot depends on individual situations. If wife dies then his current permit is valid till stamp date.
  2. Don't think you should have come to Thailand. Thinking your expectations won't be met.
  3. OK clear now. When does that visa expire. You need to look for options after divorce. If you could do an exit and reenter prior to divorce that would give you a 90 day permit. One of the most common questions in AseanNow is "I'm under 50 and not married, how to live in Thailand". At 40 a PE visa (elite) is good option
  4. I assume you mean that your current permission of stay is till June 30. Your reentry permit would end same date. The easy option it to wait till after that date. Don't think your local embassy can cancel your current permit.
  5. The question was about your situation. You either entered on a non O or multiple entry non O. Are you currently on an extension from a non O?
  6. When you divorce your permission of stay ends. Are you 50+. Would your wife be agreeable for you to change to extension based on retirement when your current permit ends. You could exit after divorce and reenter visa exempt or obtain tourist visa. How old?
  7. I don't follow. Forget the term "retirement visa" You would be applying for non O based on retirement. For that visa you require 800k in the bank on the day you apply. That visa will stamp you in for 90 days. That period gives you time to season the funds for 2 months and then obtain you 12 month extension. You require 15 days on your permission of stay to apply for the non O, perhaps that's why immigration gave you the covid extension. Don't worry about your current under consideration period. You have been given the covid extension. Just return for your stamp. All good.
  8. Not clear if you intend to continue meeting the financials and just use an agent to assist with organization or in fact the agent takes care of all. If it's the later the agent would get around the financials and yes would change to extentions based on retirement. That would cost approx 15k per year ongoing. All that is up to you. Leaving agent aside...many have changed from extension based on marriage to based on retirement.
  9. The multi entry visas such as the one in this thread and others such as METV and non O-A. Stamp you in for certain period while it's still valid. That's how you can get almost 2 years out of a non O-A and 9 months out of METV and yes up to 15 months out of ME non O by exit and re-enter just prior to it's expiry.
  10. The OP posted that he was successful in last update. He will not have any issues in the future. Agent is an option however not required if you can meet the requirements.
  11. For sure ...a lot depends on the immigration office. In my case it's CW. I find that office straight down the line. Have read horror stories at couple of immigration offices. If I lived in one of those I would just use an agent. 10 years very trouble free but as I get older I know at some point in next 10 years I will switch to agent and use that option ongoing.
  12. Please do. I think in your example it might depend on the understanding level of the immigration officer. Good luck. If banking is not accepted perhaps you could obtain the 60 day extension to visit wife on the spot.
  13. If it causes you anxiety then perhaps agent is good option for you. I have zero stress about it and know the requirements. Easy Peasy.
  14. If you are out of the country of the date for report back (Jomtien thing) you simply report when you are back in the country with the bb showing you abided by 3 month rule. Ridiculous office.
  15. Have you checked that immigration will be happy with evidence of funds being from 4 different bank with 4 different bank letters. You state ... "That being said, they BOTH give a time period of a 90 day visa only. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the former wording, before Covid, about a multi-entry YEAR duration visa?" Yes seems strange. I would have thought the ME non O would have stated visa valid for one year. Granted it allows stay of 90 days.
  16. Depends where you live. Vientiane perhaps more easy option for a non O. What's needed is one report from someone obtaining ME non O at Savannakhet to decide if it's a goer.
  17. You can obtain a covid extension prior to May 20. I would apply asap. You do not have to wait till last day of your permit. BTW you arrived visa exempt and subsequently obtained a 30 day extension. Now you will be applying for a covid extension.
  18. For those that previously obtained multi entry non O based on marriage from Savannakhet, suggest have a plan B just in case.
  19. How did you enter Thailand? Covid extensions due to end May 24.
  20. I wouldn't be posting that a few months of transfers is adequate for income method for first extension retirement. You have read a couple. I have never seen one. It has come up often and the answer is money in bank is only option for first extension without embassy income letter.
  21. I haven't seen one example. Doesn't mean has never happened. Without the income letter from embassy as stated I haven't read one report of few months deposit for first extension retirement being accepted.
  22. In other words you messed up with the amount you keep as deposit in the bank and wish to make up the short fall by an extra amount placed in bank as income couple of weeks prior to application. Think that will be up to the immigration officer. In my book nup.
  23. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding. The total of funds needs to be 800k+ two months prior to application for extension also 3 months post application. 400k+ minimum at other times. Same rule using combo method or funds in bank method. Clearly your immigration office allows combo method. Some do not.
