medicine prices in thailand? (are different pharmacies cheaper)?
DrJack54 replied to dj230's topic in Health and Medicine
Bit off topic. Three common drugs. 1. Atorvastatin Sandoz 40mg. 2. Warfarin 5mg 3. Hartsorb 10mg. If anyone can advise on approx price at random pharmacy, that would be appreciated. Thankyou. -
Back to Thailand
DrJack54 replied to JustAnotherHun's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You have time enough. First step is obtain non O rt and that only requires 800k in your Thai bank on day of application. That gives you 90 day stay to prepare for extension application. Also you can obtain 30 day extension to your visa exempt entry and even 60 day covid extension if more time required. -
Marriage extension under the table.
DrJack54 replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Under 50 ......agent would suggest obtain Non O (volunteering). Not cheap with the non O and 12 month extension approx 30k up. Back to the OP, seems from other posts here that agent assisted extensions are possible for marriage. News to me. Anyone 50+ .....agent would suggest (only offer) extension based on retirement. Regarding extension marriage the financials are so much easier can't imagine need for agent -
I see it bit differently. Yes numbers go up and up, however what would the situation be with zero restrictions. BTW they are very soft esp with regards travel. This Mr Delta is very different. Australia right now despite lockdowns has Delta taking a grip. Previous lockdowns worked but that was pre Delta. Now we see in Oz huge uptake in demand for vaccination. Previously folk were very relaxed about it. The situation has changed. Thailand if anything needs to tighten 'enforce' existing restrictions and try and maintain some of the excellent daily vaccination numbers (if they are accurate)

Visa on arrival/ exemption requirements
DrJack54 replied to racinkc1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Are not 'visa on arrival' about to made available? Perhaps I read fake gossip. -
Marriage extension under the table.
DrJack54 replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can assist with organization of docs etc however "under the table"? for marriage extensions .....No. -
Why are they not included? If Rapid Tests are that inaccurate then why have them. They should be included.

Visa on arrival/ exemption requirements
DrJack54 replied to racinkc1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, apart from the requirements listed above, since you mention enter visa exempt then you will need to have onward flight. Note it does not need to be return ticket. This is required for your your boarding pass with airline. This was always a requirement even pre covid. -
I'm aware of the items you mention above. Read my post again. For many it does not work. For some it's down to doing a 90 report in person, perhaps due to system being down at that time. Once out of the loop of consecutive online reports for some it doesn't work. The online and in person reports are separate systems. As I understand it the information needs to be updated to online data and sometimes that doesn't happen.

Marriage Visa or Thai Elite
DrJack54 replied to ThaiJohn01's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, just added note. I'm over 50 and opted for the extensions based on retirement. Using money in bank method and keeping 800k+ in bank all year round makes extension process simple and bullet proof. -
Marriage Visa or Thai Elite
DrJack54 replied to ThaiJohn01's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To OP, Im sorry re my advice regarding non O and I referring to 60+. It's 50+ By way of excuse....I'm spending LOT of time in news forums and of interest there is 60+ for vaccine. Back to the OP. My advice would be to obtain a non O based on retirement. No need for marriage or PE visa. -
Marriage Visa or Thai Elite
DrJack54 replied to ThaiJohn01's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
By Non O (retirement), I was not referring to non O-A. In any event at 56 your few years off the non O option. Edit my. ERROR Non O available at 50+ years The elite imo is good option the further you are from 60years old. Your in grey area. The elite option would be good option especially if the cost is not huge hurdle. If you wish to live ongoing in Thailand from now then PE visa has you covered. -
Marriage Visa or Thai Elite

Also depends on age. Sounds like not much love involved for marriage option. If 50+ you could obtain non O retirement. -
Thailand reports daily record of 239 new coronavirus deaths
DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He asked what % of the people that came to Thailand via sandbox scheme were tourists vs those with ties such as family, property etc Simple question however don't think there is any data on that. -

DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just to add....only 20% of population is 60+ which is ~ 13mil people. True front line workers etc need vaccination however given that median age of death is ~67, the elderly group needed to be targeted more. -

Was in the middle of typing exactly that when you posted. The thing to add is that 'pool' of folk that you refer to, i.e those with family and/or property etc is limited by number. As a tourist you would be crazy to visit Thailand right now. Even the folk that live here wouldn't bother with domestic travel. -

From the linked article.... “We expect the negotiations to be completed before the end of September so that Thailand can achieve the target of vaccinating 100 million doses within 2021.” A term that I'm very bored with..... "We expect the negotiations...."
