Agents cannot do the application in KL. How would an agent in Malaysia find out why it was voided when they would not tell him.

Sir, I think the agent in Malaysia will be able to look at the documents ( which we cant - unless the OP wants to share them privately with you for your perusal) and will do a double-take when he sees a VOID sticker in his passport. And will take the thinking cap out from his drawer...I dont think they will trouble, dont you think? Peace.

This suggestion makes absolutely no sense - please do not spread inaccurate information.

It is almost impossible, even for an agent in Country A to request reasons for a visa rejection directly from the Thai consulate in Country A.  You can forget about an agent in Country A, obtaining information directly from a Thai consulate in country B.

Visa processing centers such as VFS are paper pushers. They consolidate and screen applications from individuals and agents and relay any feedback/additional requests from the consulate, back to the applicant .

The consulate is not obliged to provide any reasons for refusal - either to the applicant/agent or the visa application center.

I apologise, I plead not guilty to the charge of spreading inaccurate information, though:-) Just my two cents worth.

You are absolutely right on VFS being paper pushers, though one cant discount the fact that there will be people like ubonjoe's

working for them who with some luck will lead you properly to success.

  3. Regrettably the OP has not mentioned if he has taken a chance with any document in particular so we can still assume he is submitting the complete list but I suspect what is in the documents needs to be looked at more carefully which of course only the OP can with a trained eye provided by a sophisticated agency like Cox and Kings. If his information is not a match on all the documents, for example.

@ubonjoe sorry for asking again so in simple words that your trying to say if i meet all the requirements in Kuala Lumpur they will totally ignore my old visa with VOID stamp and they will give me new one even i'm 18 years old

    sir waiting your answer  (:

How about finding a more sophisticated agent in KL who can first help you know why you were voided in Pakistan? Then getting assurance from him or her that you will not be voided again.

Noy unusual for an embassy to do that.

You should be able to get one if you meet all the requirements. I would assume since you will already be away from home that would overcome the parental consent problem.

You will the embassy in KL will be a little more helpful. You will have to do the application in person. I can assure if they accept the application there you will not get a voided visa sticker done.

I take it that the KL folks, bless them, will ignore the VOID sticker as if it werent there. And that they will NOT accept-the-application-grant-the-visa-and void-it-HAHA:-)  Perfect!

In that situation just walk into a branch with your passbook and you can withdraw every penny. You probably wouldn't need to close the account. If you want to close the account just tell the bank clerk and they will organise closing the account. There will be no hidden fees.

Hon, I dont want to be tiresome, but you saying that I can leave it a zero balance account without accumulating a tidy amount in penalties when karma brings me back again?

That would be ideal, but consulates are under no obligation to give their reasons for refusing a visa application.

Which is not intended to make it look like a visa grant was in their gift but it does. I have since the OP brought this up read about hundreds of Indian applicants being rejected with a VOID stamp over the years and not one has been told why. Sometimes somebody's judgement cannot be put in words but when this happens in official matters, that, in my book is not fair. Maybe his photo is dated or not clear. Tanoshisan's point about Thai law recognizing one as a minor until s/he is 20 (same age barrier for females?) is very good. A visa reject cannot be appealed and thats not fair either. I dont want to be rude but these officers should try voiding...( better to leave it unsaid :-)

You can try again, but first be completely honest with yourself that you've submitted every piece of documentation required for the application.

Janaab, it is better to get to the bottom of the issue if possible before applying again. If God Forbid you are voided again, it'd certainly not look very good as elsewhere I read it would amount to a red flag or something in the immigration database against your name. I wonder if you will take the risk of doing

a visa on arrival. I wouldnt dare risking it myself.

You can't be! But your money is as safe with any of the retail banks in Thailand as it is anywhere else in the world.

If your worried about someone emptying your account then don't leave too much in there, wherever it's located. And get yourself a credit card to use when travelling.

    Thanks for your patience!

Lets say I put 3000 dollars in the account to begin with which is roughly 200,000 Indian rupees which is a lot of money here to leave in a savings account which pays an interest of 3.5%.

Lets say I have to get out of the Kingdom vowing never to go back because of problems ---not legal but of a personal nature like disagreement with boss etc -and I want to take that money out, close the account out and leave. How easy is it to do so in Thailand, can you please tell me?

Also, are there hidden fees that I have to be beware of?

    Thanks

On second thoughts: I think I will just walk into a branch of several branches and see how they sell it to me and go with the best. At the back of my mind what I am thinking is are banking rules changeable at the whim of the officer like it is in immigration matters???

I wonder if somebody failed to notice that the OP is only 18 years old until after the application was accepted.

I think boss you have made an excellent point. For that matter he might not be 18 years old yet, he could be 17 and something.

And may well have given the notarisation and stuff a miss after being told by the agent that it was not so important.

I have a feeling that the OP would say he had provided those notarized copies as well and we might never know.

There are at least 62 Immigration offices in Thailand, so in order for diplomats to serve all nationalities located at 62 different locations, you'd need 12,028 diplomats.

Hi, my comment on the diplomats was a joke ( I am allowed one per day by my shrink :passifier:) but by diplomatic missions I did not mean the Thai officials at all of those 62 locations in the Kingdom at all. I meant the couple of blokes at the consulates embassies honorary consuls etc, <peace> who are paid in their local currencies for assisting their compatriots in the Kingdom :-))

And, yes, your advice on reading all instructions, researching is well taken, thanks.

  12. It seems VOID can be a neutral term which is not the same as saying you were DENIED.

If the embassy got the feeling ( given your popularity) that you would be working during your visit then they would void your tourist visa application, thereby implying that you had applied for the wrong visa type.

I gather that when they affixed two tourist visas in error, they voided the extra one. So make sure you have checked all the pages :-))

  13. Janaab, I hope it is an error. I have learned on here that immigration can process wrong visas and I hope this VOID visa, if you will, too, falls in that category. The fact that there is no initial means this has been a highly irresponsible processing in itself. Awaiting your getting back to us on what they had to say. Wish you all luck with your music!

  14. I am facing the same bummer the OP seems to be facing. Plus my housemaster is in his 90s and his son is abroad and never available.I am loathe to visit the Kingdom on a tourist visa just to clear up things for us (!!), then come back and apply for an immigration B visa. I know I am going to face the same situation with the TM30. I wish I could be cool like dotpoom! But how patient are the immigration guys or girls with confused people like myself? That depends on the immigration office, a thing which the OP insightfully referred to when he wrote: "There always seems to be something "that everybody knows" but is not in the instructions." I would say it was the job of our diplomatic missions to help us with this at least for the first time. Isn't that why we pay our taxes here? To help us in these matters as well, I would've thought.

Has been in the news since the invention of internet banking. What does this (and a dozen of other quite low noise-to-signal ratio questions) have to do with the way of opening a bank account in Thailand?

How can I make sure my information is safe with the bank I have opened an account with blindly? Blindly meaning without asking the "quite low noise-to-signal ratio questions."

I've not yet transferred funds into it from the UK but using the mobile app I can see the initial B500 deposit

It was reported in the press here recently that many people lost the money from their bank accounts after account details saved to mobile apps were stolen and used to transfer money to overseas accounts. How well protected are you?

no way please, I'm absolutely discreet about that, I'm so shy talking about this on a forum, i cannot believe I'm doing it, so, of course i won't go with any rainbow flag,

i just wanted to know how difficult the guards and other personnel in that place is, to be ready for everything.

Absolutely, you do just that. Ask someone senior here who knows if you can meet him a friend and you are good. As 007 Red advised, be polite. Just imagine that there is a camera on you and you dont want to look bad.

It is not unusual for countries to have Embassies in all countries. Consulates are often located in the capital of the country where they are located when there is no embassy. In some cases they are only honorary consulates.

Perhaps have a look at this list of countries that have an embassy or a consulate here. http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/information

You will note that some listed are not located here but serve their citizens while here.

And I gather that a honorary consul is not a career diplomat and for all you know he could be operating from his condo. Not kidding.

well aditi,... is a tricky topic, you know? in one side Thailand is very open to the gay community, on another side, authorities all over the world make

the fun of us everytime they can, just to show people around how manly they are... and in this, there are few exceptions....

if is just some fun of me and i have to bite my tongue is ok, but if it can handicap, like being blocked off the meeting, I prefer to know in advance and

    try anything... so confusing...

My dear if you are not beaten up for being gay then you might be for being his brother. That business will go on...

How will you communicate with the Thai officers? Dont make it obvious to them that you were gay etc and that wretched boyfriend of yours ( for he could not have been anything but) was your partner out of regard for their sentiments in the matter.

I dont think they will go so far as to ascertain your credentials.

Most Embassies and Consulates are reluctant to get involved when someone has been convicted of such an offence ( overstay ) Some will be willing to contact relatives in the respective home countries but understandably they cannot get involved with any other aspects of the case. They cannot get involved with the Thai legal system and there is no reason why they should.

According to the Wikipedia, an "embassy, [is] the office of a country's diplomatic representatives in the capital city of another country, whereas consulates are diplomatic missions which are not performed in the capital of the receiving state." Since Bangkok is the capital and the OP's ( original poster) boyfriend's country - which remained un-mentioned by the OP - is only represented by a consulate, I wonder if that consulate is located outside Bangkok and why. Why hasn't that country got an embassy in Bangkok? Dont you ( the reader) think it odd that the country should not have a mission in the capital of the Kingdom? My point is how can such a consulate provide any help to the OP's boyfriend in a situation like this? I think overherebc is absolutely right in saying that they would not want to get involved with the system, I think, for fear of falling afoul of the law here and being asked to leave the Kingdom with the OP's boyfriend.
