The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
it is wrong to conjoin a terrorist organisation (Hamas) with innocent Palestinian people. Suppose Hamas had disappeared and were hiding in Pattaya, would that make it ok to attack Pattaya and kill 5,000 innocent Thais & Farangs in the hope of killing Hamas? There is no difference, what Hamas has done would not give justification to kill Pattaya residents. I am talking about Israel and innocent Gazan citizens, what does that have to with Hamas & Israel being at odds? Who has the right to bring innocent 3rd parties into the conflict and massacre them in their thousands? Let’s consider scale, suppose Israel dropped a nuke on Gaza, all Hamas would be killed, plus a couple of million innocent civilians. The point I am trying to make is scale is irrelevant, it’s either ok or it isn’t. Doing a little bit doesn’t make it ok.

The difference is intent and scale.

You cannot say Hamas/Palestine, the former is a terrorist group and the latter is a country/innocent people. You must never join the two together, it’s like saying the IRA/Irish.

Absolutely not.

The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
You keep mentioning Hamas and what they have done. Exactly, how does that make the citizens of Gaza complicit in that crime? only if they were complicit would Israel be justified in killing them in their thousands. What Hamas has done is irrelevant in the justification for attacking innocent Gazan civilians. It is for the same reason that the British did not kill the Irish in their thousands, because they were not complicit in what the IRA did.

Actually I do have a solution, I don’t volunteer it because it deflects from the wrong being done by Israel which is what we are discussing, open another thread on alternative solutions and I will be happy to comment. Any solution should leave the Palestinian children without hatred for Israel. This generational hate has to end, and not by genocide.

You are entirely missing the point. What Hamas has done justifies Israel attacking Hamas. Nothing they have done or could do justifies attacking innocent civilians and killing them in their thousands in the hope of wiping out Hamas. Let me give an analogy. The IRA attack the British, The British then go in and massacre thousands of innocent civilians in the hope of eradicating the IRA, this would be equally wrong. Nothing the IRA could do would justify that kind of a massacre. In the law we judge guilty or not guilt on actions only. Provocation may affect sentencing but it does not make an illegal act into a legal one. Gazan civilians are innocent, nothing Hamas has done justifies massacring them in their thousands.

It doesn’t make any difference what Hamas has done, it’s irrelevant, what is important is that Israel doesn’t massacre, thousands of innocent civilians.

I never said there was a magic solution and I won’t be drawn into the task of offering one. What I said was that massacring thousands of innocent civilians, as Israel is doing is wrong. They have to find a better solution.
-
The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
I don’t bang on about anything, and I never mentioned any magical solution, I simply said what Israel is doing is wrong. I don’t have to offer a solution, that’s not my job, it is up to Israel to devise a solution that isn’t (a) driven by revenge and (b) doesn’t massacre thousands of innocent people. In my initial post, The fact I didn’t comment on Hamas cannot be taken as any kind of tacit approval, nor can it lead to the conclusion that my head is in the sand. I did condemn Hamas when asked my position. What number of Israeli’s massacred or taken prisoner by Hamas justifies them to slaughter thousands of innocent people? 1, 10, 100, 1000, a million? When do reprisals represent justice or revenge? In that context the comments you made about what Hamas did are irrelevant. I would say there is no number that justifies a response that massacres thousands of innocent people. What Hamas has done should have no bearing on innocent people. Israel’s beef is with Hamas, not citizens of Gaza. What is the purpose in asking half the population of Gaza to move into the South, isn’t it likely Hamas will move with them? I am aware most people don’t think so, but I expect Israel to annex Northern Gaza.

Their God would tell them to turn the other cheek. A flippant answer I grant you, but any solution should not involve killing thousands of innocents. Israel is at war with Hamas, not Gaza.

I never commented or condoned Hamas. Did you mean to say Israel in your first sentence? I condemn Hamas's attack on Israel, I condemn Israel's response. The only people I don't condemn is the innocent Palestinians dying in their thousands at Israel's hands. Two wrongs don't make a right. As a Brit, I am fully aware of the history and we must take the blame for initiating the whole problem. My head is not in the sand, I am very well informed about the history of this conflict. As I said above, I condemn Hamas for their attack, I also condemn Israel for their response in killing thousands of innocents. another solution needs to be found, but collateral damage on this scale is not acceptable, it looks more like bloody revenge to me than anything else.

Fortunately, it's not my decision to make. But killing thousands of innocent Palestinians to rid Gaza of Hamas wouldn't be an option I would consider.

Thailand’s EV initiative: Driving towards a greener future
You are right, 88% is the proportion of vehicle sales, I did say "market share" first time I stated it which is correct, I did erroneously then quote 88% on the next reference. I think the only technology re fueling vehicles that has mastered us is petroleum distillates. As I have said before, ultimately we will see Hydrogen cars sold alongside BEV's, H2 cars will be cheaper and less desirable because they will cost 3 times as much to run per kilometer (maybe as much as 5 times more).

I think you will find almost all EV owners are happy in Thailand, I have never heard of an unhappy EV owner (cue unhappy EV owner...)

Perhaps I should have said Norway has less issues now than when it had ICE vehicles. As we know ICE vehicles are 10 times less likely to be involved in fires. I grant you, the resultant fire if there is one, is much more of a problem to deal with. Regarding Thailand, most EV's are using LFP battery chemistry which is much safer than NMC. Some of the high-performance vehicles will continue to use NMC because of the higher energy density. For those of us that have done our research, we all prefer LFP which is more suited to Thailand as we don't get cold winters.

Hamas bombs Israel Israel bombs Gaza, a tiny fraction of 1% are Hamas This is not an answer. Israel should only go after Hamas, collateral damage of thousands of Palestinians can't be right, it sounds like a war crime to me. Imagine a shooter kills people in a market and runs into a nearby bank containing 200 people, it would not be acceptable to kill everyone in the bank in order to kill the shooter, yet the analogy isn't far off. A better man would not retaliate this way.

Thailand’s EV initiative: Driving towards a greener future
More nonsense. Electric vehicles now have a market share of 88% in Norway with none of the issues you've mentioned. Thailand is extending it's incentive campaign contributing towards purchase price of BEV's. Nothing in a car is more inflammable than Petrol, yet we have mastered that, just as we have mastered Lithium batteries. Norway with 88% electrified vehicles has no issues with fires, it's a non-event. For every "expert" proclaiming doom & gloom, there are dozens of others claiming BS. As for uninsurability, I just insured my daughter's MG EP+ and IIRC it was around 8,000 baht for first class insurance. Rather than "thinking been abolished" it's the intelligentsia who have researched their intended purchases very carefully and then gone ahead with their EV purchase. I personally am on my 3rd EV and I couldn't be happier. I got very enjoyable, dirt cheap, silent motoring and a great resale price on the 2 I sold. I will never buy another ICE vehicle.

Thailand’s EV initiative: Driving towards a greener future
I'll take you last point first, In the past 6 years my family here in Thailand have had 4 PHEV/EV's, a Mercedes Benz, a Porsche Taycan, an MGEP+, an MG4 and I have an MG Cyberster on order. I chose to give the only mandated hours for a certain class of vehicle which is 4.5 hours. The advice to all motorists in Highway Code Rule 91, is much stricter, to take a 15 minute break every 2 hours. It is against the law in the UK to drink alcohol and drive or smoke cannabis and drive. The answer invariably given to the courts is "40+ years of driving and no accidents". There is no excuse acceptable. By your own admission you are a regular cannabis user and I suspect you still drive. The advice by His Majesty's Gov't in the UK, is you can drive OR you can smoke Cannabis. If you want to smoke Cannabis then surrender your licence. This advice is given because you can still fail a drug wipe & associated blood test the following day and the risk of an accident increases. Thailand is in its infancy regarding legislation around this but that does not give you licence to get stoned and go out and drive and perhaps wipe out a loved member of someone's family. All part of the plan... Cannabis induced Paranoia? More Cannabis induced Paranoia?

Biden says reoccupation of Gaza by Israel would be ‘big mistake’
I am fairly sure Israel will annex the Northern part of the Gaza strip. It more than halves their border with Gaza for a start and it punishes Hamas and that punishment like the proverbial rolls downhill to the Palestinians. What cemented it for me, was Israel bombing the hospital, I am fairly sure they did do that, adio analysis seems to suggest it came from Israel and it had to go for annexation to go ahead.

Is Thailand only getting the Black interior? My brother in law ordered one in Australia with a blue interior.

What do we think of this from MG ?
I got 90% of the price I paid new for a 2 year old EV Another member here advertised and sold his EV within an hour and got more than he paid. Let's talk Suzuki shall we? I paid 350k for a 10 month old Suzuki Ciaz RS, approximately 50% depreciation in 10 months.
