Government Approves CAAT Plan to Tackle Soaring Ticket Prices
hioctane replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It decreases due to competition but at the moment airlines don't feel the need to cut fares because there is not enough supply. -
Pattaya Police Launch City-Wide Search Targeting Foreigners on Overstay

That truck must have been full. I don't know anyone that brings their passport out to the clubs.- 111 replies

What do you mean by "reliable?" I just use the cheapest one (usually Bolt). During rush hour, I might need to rotate through the apps to find a driver.

Will the 45 day visa waiver continue after March 31?
hioctane replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I just wonder why so many Asian countries are so fixated on 30 days. In the West, many countries are 90 days. If they are worried about losing money on extensions, I am fine with a 1900 baht exit fee if I stay longer than 30 days. -
Help requested- Long stay Thailand.

Thanks for clearing that up. The income method seems like the clear choice. -
I have been using Bolt the past month. I can say it is extremely hard finding a car of any kind (except Comfort and XL at double the price) during peak hours. Outside of that, I can usually get a car in minutes.

This is what I meant. Since his pension is not enough, why can’t he send the 50k pension plus another 15k baht per month to make up the shortfall? Isn’t this called a combo? It is not required that the transfer be one transfer of 65k correct? Of course he would need to do this for 12 months. -

Unless you know the guy, what part of what the OP said suggests that? He can send his monthly pension and use part of the 50k £ to meet the monthly short fall. -
So what is the policy on Lazada Wallet in 2023 for foreigners? I was able to activate it. I had some money in there from a refund but not enough to buy something I wanted. It won’t let me top up. I only have Bangkok Bank. What is the point?

Immigration arrest three overstaying foreigners on Koh Phangan
hioctane replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
File an extension. Even from the hospital you can do it. That 6 days is likely to turn to 600 and 900. I applaud them. Make examples out of them and blacklist and deport them! This will stop future tourists from breaking immigration rules and less to go after. Personally, I think they need to make visa rules easier provided you can show proof of funds. Nobody wants a begging deadbeat.- 101 replies

Ex-girlfriend tries to steal 10 motorcycles
hioctane replied to Alexzweiner's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That ruling makes no sense. It would have likely been overturned on appeal… Even the judge said so much. However, since when do courts broker deals? That is something for plaintiffs/defendants to do. -
As long as someone thinks it is “great value,” someone is willing to pay and there is no incentive to lower prices. Exactly. Economics 101, laws of supply and demand. I don’t think airline and hotel hotel prices have anything to do with each other. One can’t control the other. The thirst for travel hasn’t subsided yet after the pandemic. I think airline prices will remain sky high. I am paying at least 50% more than prepandemic for flights! It won’t stop me from traveling but it stings.

There are no guarantees. It is at their discretion. If they see too many stamps, they can say to come back with a proper visa. Every situation is different. That said, be prepared. Have 20,000 baht in cash in case they ask. Bring some clothes instead of just a backpack so you can stay somewhere while you reevaluate your options.

Actually in some parts of the US, it is illegal to sell and distribute vapes and flavored eliquids. However, there are no laws against vaping. So basically they only go after suppliers. This is probably the best route. It is age old question, if prostitution is illegal, who do you go after? Both the prostitutes and Johns or one or the other? I am actually glad it is brought to light. Maybe finally they can come to some sort of resolution.

Chiang Mai named safest city in Southeast Asia, Bangkok seventh safest
hioctane replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
What does that have to do with anything? You can't list the hottest of the hot? Or the ugliest of the ugly? -
Yes, but it takes +/- 30 minutes to get to your hotel depending on how many they have to pick up before/after you. It is more convenient just to call a Bolt when you are ready to go to the bus station.

This Christmas? My friend was there for 10 days. He didn't prebook. He ended up having to bounce from hotel to hotel because he couldn't find a hotel in Central Pattaya that had a available room for his whole stay.

Massages were cutting their rates to 100 baht. TF prices were generally cheaper. Airbnb was cheaper. So basically we covered almost everything. Things were cheaper.

Wrong. In the middle of Covid, prices were considerably lower.
