I made it back on a flight from Beijing this week ... 100% full flight (no spacing) - 100% mask by everyone (except when eating) - Even the cabin crew donned Hazmat suit when landing and was dealing with ground crew. No new cases in Beijing for 50 days last week (all new cases reported was imports in quarantine)

You trump supporters never fail to amaze, by not seeing what is reported in respectable news media and many instances of which have been posted on here, so I'll give you a few clues........
– trump was ordered to pay back over $2 million to the charities that he filched that money from in order to pay his campaign bills
.
– trump has been bankrupted six times or more and in doing so has been able to circumvent the need to pay the everyday working American contractor.
– trump utilised illegal immigrant labour on some of his building projects and also paid them well below the going rate – – simply because he could.
– getting one's lawyer to pay off one of trumps extramarital affairs, is not a good look for a president.
– Denigrating an American war hero, Jon McCain, when trump himself dodged the draft.
– Denigrating a disabled reporter in front of the cameras, for a nation to see.
– Failing to take action in early January when the Covid 19 virus was reported as being in the USA, however he is now famous for the words, "it's just like the flu" and "we have it under control", and "by April it will go away".
– Then of course there is the famous quotes about grabbing women by the ........ssy.
I don't really need to go on because you must know about this unless, unless, unless, that is, that you are a trump supporter and can't be bothered dealing with the truth.
Or maybe most of his supporters does not see this as an issue at all .... ???? ....

1. Yes, you must be no older than 60 to enter the scheme
2. Yes
Thanks for your reply Sheryl,
A quick follow up to Q1 if I may ....
1.1 So would that mean that if older than 60. You do not have to pay the 5% social security as you can not join it ?
1.2 Would that then apply for the company as well? i.e. they do not have to pay the employer portion which I believe is about 4% to 6%
1.3 Both contributions, capped at 750THB - if able to join (correct ?)
Thanks in advance ..

Hi Sheryl,
Can I ask you if starting employment (not as a teacher, but in industry) on a Non IB visa - is there a age limit were you can NOT pay into the Social Security system and take advantage of the public medical system ?
If I understand you correctly .. after one year of being employed and having paid your SS (if you then stop working) can you then continue to pay into the system and receive public health care until you go 6ft under ?
Providing you keep up the monthly payments until that unfortunate but inevitable day arrive ?
Thanks in advance ...

The article only serves to highlight how foreigners were being gouged pre-Covid.
That is a very simplistic response .. Who made the investment to build the place ? What was the expected return on investment ? Maybe understanding that will help to appreciate the high cost for 'normal stay'.
Now that the place is 'there' - They are trying to cover basic running costs paying salaries to staff etc .... so assuming that anyone who are in Thailand today can stay at the 'fire sale' price .. Then its noting to do with 'double pricing' or ripping of foreigners .....

45 supporters aren't part of a cult of personality just because they deny the evidence of their eyes and ears and regard the obvious fabrications of their leader as facts and never express doubts or question beliefs from family and friends - oh wait, that's exactly a cult of personality.
When you believe ONE MAN above Science, above Intelligence agencies, above former CIA directors, retired generals and revered journalists - when you believe that one man above even your own eyes and ears - you are fully indoctrinated.
You could possibly make a case that the country who has a big red flag could not a have done a better job creating true followers ....

Those staying long term should be OK on a Non O marriage or retirement visa and extension. Real tourist on the other hand are long gone as evidence in empty tourist areas and hotel vacancies. That only leave the group that just wants to stay in Thailand by any means possible. These are he border bump crowd, who get phoney ed visas or whatever. Their gig is about to end, IMO.
IMO, this last group feels they contribute a lot to the economy but really don't. They live as cheap as possible and don't add much (if at all).
If one has the means an Elite Visa is available for about 500K baht for 5 years. That's about $15,000 or $3,000/year. If that's beyond one's means their contribution to the Thai economy must be very little.
I think you are right that they may not add much - But do they do any harm ? Do they at least ad something to the economy or 'person next door' selling noodle ... If the answer is yes .. then why kick them out ?
If they do something illegal - or 'do real harm to the country' .. Scams etc .. Then deal with them accordingly. But kicking them does not sound like a good idea right now ...
What does Thailand gain by kicking them out?

Thanks, I am mission critical. ????
I will be careful of what I tell them. Because people in Embassies don't like lies. As soon as they ask for my passport number they can check me in the system. I can tell them the real story and look how they react. Worst case they tell me something like: forget it, it will take weeks.
It will depend on the number or return flights that are available from that country. In any case .. The thing would be to apply for a return flight / CoE as soon as you arrive - I would be very surprised if they ask you for your passport number on the phone. In my experience with Thai embassies (or any embassy in general) they do not 'like to' give non scripted advice over the phone ... in fact they do not like to even answer the phone at times .... ????. Consulates tend to be bit more flexible ... But as other have said - with a valid VP you are good to apply for a CoE etc .. It may be worth getting your C19 insurance sorted before you go ... Also with your work letter and work permit .. make sure you also have a copy of the company registration document - Your work letter .. copy of ID card of the Thai person who have signed it .. All this may not be needed ... but better to have it (and not need it) than loosing values time shuffling papers. Depending on the country you are in .. UK ?? (Maybe just the VP is all you need) .. I am sure others can advice who already have returned under a VP CoE .. If it was me - I would 'budget for' 3 to 4 weeks turnaround ...

you could say that about most in Pattaya or Thailand for that matter.
Most of the world really ... ???? ..... Human nature .. its how we all have survived. Some countries 'sound more sophisticated about it' but when the chips are down ... its the same the world over in general me thinks...
-
One idea that might be worth trying. Ring or email the Thai embassy in the country you want to return to. Do not say you are in Thailand at the moment - Just say you have a work permit and need to return to Thailand 'Urgently'.
It may even help you if you can a letter from your employer - that is stating that its CRITICAL for the Thai business that you return to Thailand as many Thai jobs depend on you returning quickly .....
Then at least you will get a feel for how 'quick' you may be able to return.... As I see it, it will be better for you .. if you are important to the Thai business .. i.e. you need to return quickly ..
Just a thought ... Good luck !

CoE application process, 100.000usd insurance, fit to fly certificate, negative covid test, seat on repatriation flight single journey for the price of a tor ticket, ASQ hotel, 30-100.000++ Baht.
Did i forget something? Yes: the visa fee!
It is all about your frame of mind ???? ...
Lets say Flights, ASQ, Insurance, C19 test = $ 3000,-
Stay the full 270 days ... then its only about 380THB per day to stay .... for your 'entry ticket' ...
