  1. If buying second hand from a dealer - lets say with a purchase price of about 800000 - With 50% down -

What is the general interest rate one would expect to pay ? Assuming the finance will be arranged by the dealer - Or is it better to go the bank route for the balance? Would the bank in general offer a better rate for a car purchase ? (finance over 2 to 3 years)

Appreciate some insight ... Thanks in advance

More now than ever during visa amnesty and covid, there's a plethora of so called "news" about policies under consideration or promised by some deputy minister of blah blah who has no authority. Now that the amnesty deadline is 2 weeks away and thousands of foreigners have to get serious about legitimate extension or a one-way ticket outta here, this 90-day extendable tourist visa concept should be officially either verified or scrapped. And any poll about Thais wanting farang to stay or go or come back will depend entirely if said Thais are reliant on tourism. Rich Thais who already have money don't give a damn about "filthy foreigners". I just re-extended another year, but I've been in "quarantine" for six months and have been here 17 years, virtually zero risk.

I disagree ... you are not 'virtually zero risk' ... you are Zero risk .. just like any other Thai .. ????.

Simply put .. once you have been in Thailand for 'a month' .. and are not C19 positive. You are just like any other Thai ... So whatever risk they are .. you are ...

That should be the message that the government should put out ...

First things first...if you really want foreigners in the country to spend money..here's a tip. Offer free annual extensions to all current foreigners in country who have not left in the past 6 months and who have tested negative. Then provide them with an array of discounts for travel fare and accomodation, giving greater discounts the more your travel. Suspend 90 day reports and TM30 nonsense.

You could do it even easier ... Allow anyone in - Who would do the ASQ for 14 days - Then give them 1 year visa, no reporting etc .. Simple .. and discounts etc for all trips and hotel in the country.

Get in trouble with the law during your stay - kick them out.

When you have the 'world to pick from' ... They should be able to get a few takers ...

He may be well educated and brilliant, but he is just regurgitating what was said several months ago by non Thai. This is not anything new or anything he personally came to the conclusion of.

    So ?

I would have thought the point is that he is writing in Thai ... for Thai people to read ...

Not all Thai people have the ability to read English and gain the vast combined expert knowledge that we all are so fortunate to have here on TV ......... After all, TV is the hub of all knowledge, right?...... ????

I also would have thought the reason his post is shown here is just to drive more clicks to TV ...... Something which it has succeeded to do ... By us all commenting .... it a win win ...  We get something to do .... TV gets more click ????

Like the pandemic stats? Among the worst in the world by any metric. 45 didn't create the virus but he's responsible for leading the response. Tragic failure. If he had taken it seriously he would be a shoo in for reelection as well.

Some people think that is a small price to pay to live in the land of the free ...

So that is not a failure to them .. its just 'a bad day at the office' .... ????

Maybe they think that the people who died failed themselves .. ?  They should have looked after themselves better. Not be obese, not have type 2 diabetes, smoke etc  etc .....  Its a 'persona freedom issue' ... Not something for the government to 'control' ... Hence Mr T handing of C19 is not seen by them as a 'failure'.

I can see that logic ... I am not saying that I agree with it .....

It's very very difficult to move large sums of money out of China. Remittance has always been a big issue, just ask expats who get their salary paid in China. Transferring it home is a huge pain. For average Chinese people but also government officials it's highly regulated. Usually they need to present a bill to legitimize their wires abroad.

In Macao you have "jewelry shops" where Chinese customers "pay" with their credit cards for expensive merchandise but in reality no jewelry is ever involved. They are withdrawing gambling money (HKD) to use at the casino and also deposit it locally.

For an expat who are paid in RMB - You can expert the money out, "no problem" as long as the company you work for can show proof that they have paid your income tax. Depending on the company you work for .. or if you change jobs etc .... That can sometime be a problem. Or working for big companies who will issue the required document once every year.  Its a lot of paperwork that you have to give to the bank when you do your wire. Once done, its super fast .... Much faster than sending money from US to Thailand.

Maybe because TB has been around for thousands of years? Maybe because it's by now "accepted" and "well known"? Maybe because the lethality of TB is much much lower compared to Covid as far as we currently know contrary to your claims (we know the numbers for TB pretty well, Covid-19 not 100%, you can't compare absolute numbers you need to check deaths per infection AND you are comparing "incidents" to deaths...)? And maybe because according to your graph the situation regarding TB is improving steadily?

Covid is new, still not 100% settled as to the exact lethality, mutating fast and the number of cases has grown rapidly. Better overreact to protect than be unlucky and wiped out.

Tons and tons of reasons that imho should be obvious. Even more so for the helmet comparison.

Again one of these masks threads. Why are they such a big problem for some? I guess people have too much time now, frustrated with the bad economic situation and need to vent some of this energy. Can't explain it otherwise. ????

Lockdowns and shutdowns of companies I can understand that it impacts people's lives heavily. But masks?

and the vaccine for TB has been around a long time, well understood ... Not sure how popular it is in Thailand but in Europe most kids would get it during school years .....

and for some  ... its part of the 'Thai charm' .... if you want 'law and order' ... Stay in the west ???? ...

Anybody 'old enough' on here to remember what it was like during the prohibition in US? ...  KC, Chicago .. NY ...   Police .. The government ... the mafia ... etc etc ...... I wonder how all that would compare to Thailand .. or some of the other countries in Central Asia ...

On total numbers alone you are correct.  However in the number of Nobel prizes per capita, which gives a more realistic view of claims to being smarter than others, the United States is 15th in the world.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Nobel_laureates_per_capita

I see Nigeria have a solid lead over Thailand in that ranking .. ????
