That is a fair point.....the English, in particular, wrecked havoc around the world with their missionaries, zealots and flag planting.....the only argument in favor of the West is that 'we' promote democracy rather than communism and dictatorships.
But not everyone in Asia see 'democracy' as such a great thing ... Some see 'strong leaders' who provide for the majority as more important .. Compared to our western thinking of 'personal freedom and democracy'.

Maybe a daft question ... if this is intended to be used for speeding up supplies during a 'time of war' .. Would it not be pretty easy to just bomb the canal ? ... a bit like shooting fish in a barrel ?
Or a sending a few torpedoes along it with a ship in it .. would be a nice 'plug'

Covid-19 as a contributing factor cause of death is not in dispute at all. Could just as well have been normal seasonal flu that was the final nail in the coffin, or pneumonia. So, yes it is old news.
What is vitally important about this information, however, and what is not old news, is that it serves to highlight which sections of the population should have been targeted for protection much earlier on. And where financial and human assets should have been employed.
And even more importantly, how information was used by people the public trusted to manipulate public opinion. And remember, these are all "experts" of one kind or the other.
This begs the question: Would the American people have accepted the restrictions on their freedoms if they
had this information from the start?. And will the continue to accept them?
The short answer is probably no in general ... Just look at the average American, do you see tower of health and fitness? (same goes for many other western countries) ...
Probably not the best position to be in when you try and fight C-19

That said ... was the USA not founded on rioting, looting and burning along with “massacres” ... say in Boston? The seizing of privately owned tea destroyed in Boston, Charleston, Annapolis, Princeton and Greenwich (we burned the tea there). I am not defending nor condemning ... just reminding of the historical record. There certainly have been other times of protests turning violent.
and killing all the 'redskins' ....... Bible in one hand and a rifle in the other ...... 'Poor immigrants' from Europe looking for a better and more prosperous life ...... All part of our history ....

I am wondering how or even if ethics approval was sought or received for this type of research.
I can see major benefits for it if it is successful, but I see more sinister overtones to its use.
Makes me pleased I am aged.
Just like when a hammer was invented .. you can use it for driving in a nail to build a house ... Or smash in the brain of some poor guy you may have an argument with ...
Anything for good .. can also be used for bad .... And we humans are certainly very good at finding 'dual use' for most great inventions.... ????

Maybe can buy some slightly used min subs from US when they are sold on auction ?
If anything - the fast intercept Zodic looks way more useful than a Chinese sub if combined with surface radar.

I like to understand how they will be useful ?
What practical operational capability will they have ?
I would have thought if anything they need fast surface going ships to allow effective control for fishing vessels, smugglers etc ....
Or aircraft / drones with radar capability for monitoring surface and air traffic.
I just can not see how they can have a practical use. Do they think they are going to sink the next Belgrano for when 'country X' will invade Thailand ?
If the argument is to have some cool toys to play with ... That argument I can understand.

How much do you think factory workers earn? I million baht per month?
Low paid, taking advantage of by the Japanese because NO ONE is stupid enough to work for that low salary.
You think people working at Toyota in Japan get paid the same as Thai people working for Toyota in Thailand?
Have a good laugh on that one.
It's not your fault the rest of the world takes advantage of people willing to work for next to nothing.
It is just Thailand.
How much does the pay in each county really matter ? Would you rather be a middle manager or a factory worker in Japan (automotive) or in Thailand ? Who do you think have the best 'quality of life' (yes we can all discuss how to value that) .. Or who are the happiest ?
Not everything that
counts can be counted
and not everything that's
counted truly countsAlbert E ..

Well ... Why not give your counter opinion then ?

Nothing strange really I think ... Every country have its unique 'moral values' .... Which very often differ widely from country to county.

Hello,
Seems to be very cheap but they say "premiums from below table only valid until 31st August 2020". Also valid up to 70 yo
How can it be that cheap compared to others insurance companies?
Some of the other insurances include more than just the C19 cover - Hence are more expensive. Considering the low rate of C19 infection (at least official) - The premium should be low as the risk is low ...

They should try and get as many back as possible ... Re-instate visa free arrival - Give 90 days visa and slap on the 14 days lock up .. Getting the C-19 insurance is not that expensive ..
That would test the waters .....

And all of it seems to be happening in Democrat controlled cities? Democrat governors and Democrat mayors in the position to do something about it do nothing at all (until it's too late) so what has Trump got to do with it? That he's responsible even though all he can do is offer assistance which gets refused by the Democrats? What are you trying to say, Sujo?
Here is a question ... Is it true that in states or cities that are controlled by the Democrats you will find more blacks (poor ?) Loss of jobs and less 'fortunate' or less 'opportunities' .. Factory closings etc .. .. Compared to where the Republicans are in charge? i.e. you have more well of people in Republican controlled cities?

Anyway, the people the kid shot were a real classy bunch. A registered sex offender with crimes against a minor. Skateboard guy has a record of battery and repeat domestic abuse. Arm Hamburger pistol guy has a history of being intoxicated with a gun - which is ironic because that means it’s likely illegal for him to even own one.
Sure sounds like a a 'world class' left wing Antifa cell to me .... ????
Or maybe just a bunch of low life scum that takes advantage of an initial peaceful demonstration ?
