Venturing 2 Kms in to a cave ! And the adulation is nauseating ! As I have explained to folk not familiar with how Thailand works,the hype over this continues, whereas 47 Non Thais died at sea because of neglect and incompetence and Thai media and authorities would rather it is forgotten about!

There is a very simple reason why so many people drive the way they do. Thais have no concept of cause and effect. They really have no idea that the way they drive could kill both themselves and others. Why they have no such concept might be down to education, or not believing the need to take responsibility for anything ever as that means losing face. Thais will always do whatever they want to do, regardless. It really is a very primitive society.
Perfect summing up of the whole society in every aspect of life !!!

Some 70 people die every day on the Thai roads. Its a disgrace and a national tragedy. But here we are discussing safety in caves of which there has been one incident in 30 years. There is none so blind as those that will not see.

I am curious, regarding the cancelations, what percentage is due to the perception of safety, and how much is due to the handling of the tragedy (i.e., the government's public responses). I mean, if I had already booked my trip to Thailand, and I saw the news of the tragedy, I would cancel my boat trip, not my vacation. I wonder if this is more of an "F.U. Thailand", as opposed to "that looks scary".
