Help, i fancy my local pharmacist (F) !
Ask her out, name an expensive Thai restaurant. It will either be yes or no. Agree date and time. If she turns up, you're on a winner. If she doesn't, you were told what she thought you wanted to hear. Don't embarrass both yourself and her by going back to the pharmacy if your effort to connect is unsuccessful. A sure winner in conversation is to inquire after her family.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
It seems to be a dogma with you, foreigners can't possibly know anything about America, and you are the repository of knowledge pertaining thereto. Having traveled to America many times, I know a lot about America and Americans. OTOH, you could put the knowledge of most Americans about Australia on the head of a pin.

Flighty Women: Are most women these days just too flighty for you?
It's easier to soar like an eagle, if one is not working with turkeys.

Flighty Women: Are most women these days just too flighty for you?
My GF cooks for me, does the laundry and washing up, puts my socks on, trims my toenails. if I am in hospital, she sleeps on the floor next to my bed to take care of me. If she is flighty, I can't say I have noticed, or would care if I did.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
IMO the people who will get screwed over worst of all by Big Don will be the "basement dwellers" ( that's his name for them ) who voted for him. Plus minority groups who were stupid enough to believe him. Sociopaths have no conscience about deceiving everyone, friend or foe. BOHICA.

What if she finds out?
Men are naturally polygamous. Women tend to be monogamous, although there are exceptions. IME all hell breaks loose when the woman finds out. That's because the support the woman is getting becomes threatened by another woman.

When Willful Ignorance is a Way of Life
I guess you haven't caught up with Mexico and Canada's threats of retaliation. https://www.thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/us-news/trump-news/2024/11/27/mexico-trade-tariff-response How do you know tariffs will work? IIRC Trump's tariffs on China resulted in American farmers losing massive amounts of market share to other countries, and I don't recall the Mexicans paying one cent towards Trump's wall.

When Willful Ignorance is a Way of Life
This is what happens when hype triumphs over reason. The money has to come from somewhere to pay for the tax cuts Trump is promising. In Australia, any conservative government that tries to mess with welfare gets a bloody nose from the voters at the next election. In America, the turkeys voted for Christmas. It's coming.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
I do know Trump owns 17 golf courses, and all except one are losing money hand over fist. He tries to charge excessive fees for the Trump brand, smart golfers are not buying. Plenty of better quality competition.

Pink ID Card has your Tax ID number
I put my Thai pink card number on the FATCA form sent by Kasikorn Bank. Staff at the bank did not question it. If it's not the same as a TIN, not my problem.

Creating a Savings Portfolio for Thai Wife
First step for the OP should be making a will. Then a joint savings account, no cards, he retains possession of the bank book. Alternatively, buy Thai gold bullion. Store in a Thai bank, access his signature only. Probate of his will about 6 months, then she can claim the gold. I actually like the second option better, gold always appreciates in the long term.

Creating a Savings Portfolio for Thai Wife
Only if she has possession of the bank book, if there is no debit card with it.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
Someone posted a bar chart showing what America got with the tariffs, and what was paid out to US farmers. Of course, the farmers were dudded, just like any other Trump deal. For the offense of questioning China's treatment of minorities, China slapped steep tariffs on wine, lobsters and milk formula, and halted Australian shipments of iron ore. If you think China won't respond even more strongly to Trump's tariffs, you are living in La-La land.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
If you look at what happened to farm produce exported to China in the last Trump administration, farmers were hit so hard by retaliatory tariffs Trump had to come up with massive subsidies to placate them. A lose-lose situation. Is that macro-economic enough for you?

Selling my condo in Chiang Mai, advise please
Usually, condos can be advertised through the management on site. It then all depends on the price set by the vendor. From the experience of a friend, real estate agents in Thailand are fairly useless. Look for one that speaks very good English.

Oh look! Jack Smith has filed a motion to drop charges against Pres. Elect Donald Trump!
Dismissed without prejudice, which means the charges can be reinstated in 2029.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
Then why are they talking about retaliatory measures? What happens to American gas prices when Trump has a 25% tariff on the oil imported from Canada? What happens to sales of American cars when Canada puts a 25% tariff on them? Wishful thinking on your part, or an overdose of Trump Kool-Aid.

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
Russia is being forced to cannibalize domestic aircraft to keep services going. It's not getting any parts or software upgrades from Boeing or Airbus. It has no capacity to build its own passenger aircraft, in an economy on a wartime footing. Russia has ceased exporting refined oil products. It needs every drop for Ukraine and the domestic market. The Russian education system collapsed in the mid-eighties. The scientists and engineers from that era are on the cusp of retirement. There has also been a brain drain of younger people escaping the draft. Oil wells in the permafrost are freezing, the Western technicians and advanced equipment needed to keep them operational are gone. In addition, the Russian demographic is declining at one of the fastest rates in the world. You are dead wrong when you say there is nothing Russia needs from the world. It needs human capital, and technology. It currently buys washing machines and refrigerators from the West, for the computer chips to go into its military vehicles. It has zero capacity for making high-end chips of its own. I am reminded of the early Cold War. Russia was buying about 30 optical emission spectrometers from Bausch and Lomb in America. It turned out the spectrometers were then cannibalized for the diffraction gratings, which went into missile guidance systems. History repeats itself. I doubt the ordinary Russians watching their food costs inflating by 10%, or the purchasing power of 100 rubles decline to less than a single dollar, would agree money is "made up". The Chinese don't believe so, they will only pay Russia in yuan.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
I'm not sure why you want to live in denial of basic economic policy. History shows any country who puts tariffs on imported goods and services pays for it with increased internal costs, and retaliatory measures. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
Every time I see medical equipment in a hospital, it has a German or Japanese brand name on it. Permit me to doubt the device you are using to post was made in America. The USA also has a plethora of natural disasters - bushfires, hurricanes and tornadoes. That will get worse with Trump environmental policies. Tell me, who is going to pick your crops after Trump has deported all the illegals?
