Until you get tested for antibodies, you won't know if you have dodged a bullet, or are still waiting for it to arrive. I had myself tested for antibodies 3 weeks after my first jab. While the result was not high, it gave me confidence if I did get COVID, I would cope with it comfortably. And I did. While I share some of that distrust, I think I am more selective in applying it.

When I am told by an anti-vaxxer poster I am wrong and know nothing, that is contempt of the five years I spent getting a tertiary qualification, and the 50 -odd years I spent getting better at my chosen line of work. I do have to wonder if posters who dismiss training in science, logic and statistics themselves have a limited formal education, and hence a giant chip on their shoulder about the lack. A friend once said to me " It doesn't matter how smart you think you are, there is always going to be someone out there who is smarter than you." Can't say I have encountered an anti-vaxxer that fits the bill.

What is preposterous is the selective cherry-picking of adverse data to suit the anti-vaxxer argument, when the statistics world-wide indicate getting jabbed drastically reduces the probability of dying, being admitted to an ICU, or developing long COVID. What is preposterous is COVID anti-vaxxers who shriek to high heaven about those vaccines, when they have very probably been inoculated against polio, typhoid, tetanus, whooping cough, Hep A and flu, without any ill effects. Permit me to doubt there are many whose bodies are completely unsullied by a needle. What is preposterous is those same anti-vaxxers who reject medical science, seeking the best medical assistance they can afford if they happen to break a bone, or come down with any painful condition. Quite happy to accept the help of Big Pharma then. The anti-vaxxer belief system reminds me of those religions that reject life-saving blood transfusions for their adherents. There are instances of unvaccinated COVID patients being wheeled into ICU wards begging for vaccination, I guess that's heresy. Or recanting their beliefs.

My Thai GF knows to take me to a public hospital, either Phan or Chiang Rai. All life is a gamble. I take sensible precautions, and keep myself physically and mentally fit, with diet thrown in. I don't need 10+ million in my bank account, that's a gross exaggeration. My 800K stays untouched year after year, I have 500K set aside for medical emergencies. I also have assets in Australia I can liquidate with a click of a mouse. And the option of going back to Australia for free private health care. Assuming I could even get past the pre-existing conditions clauses ( none of which are life-threatening ), my age means I would be shelling out more than 200,000 baht per year for something I may never need, and may never collect on if an insurance company decides to renege. I put the poster you refer to on ignore some time ago. Quite apart from wiretaps and witnesses, IMO there is an informant at Mar-Al-Lago. How else did the FBI know Trump still had sensitive documents in his possession? How else would a Federal judge and Merrick Garland both sign off on the search warrant? Whatever the informant provided must have been solid information. Quite probably, the identity of the informant was in the affidavit tendered to the Federal judge. Given Trump's propensity ( vide Pence ) for egging on his followers, it makes sense to protect the informant's identity, and ignore howling Republicans. My hypothesis could be wrong. However, based on what transpired with the search itself, it seems very likely. The FBI knew exactly what they were looking for.
