Do you also use "turmeric" powder? Need about two teaspoons per day, better than capsules
The active ingredient "cucurmin" may also assist in relieving the inflammatory process. Black pepper with helps "bio availability"
Also the exercise and stretching
No. I'm taking saw palmetto and milk thistle at present. I'm a bit concerned too many herbals could interact unfavourably.
Love black pepper on everything.

Using an Agent is a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY~!!
12,000 BHAT.....really? Give them 400 USD..... FOR WHAT?
Just to make copies for you?
Ridiculous.
The offices are very efficient now, its very easy, just do it yourself.
Been here going on 15 yrs, never used an Agent for anything.
For me, the 12,000 baht includes the cost of the extension and a multiple re-entry permit. The agent's fee is 5500 baht.
I've been using an agent for ten years, and I prefer the convenience. Plus the knowledge I won't have to deal with the occasional IO who is in a <deleted>ty mood. If you want to spend your money on something else, your choice.

You would be better off learning how to exercise to keep mobile. I do 20 minutes of stretching exercises first thing every morning. I have chronic osteoarthritis of the lower spine. I don't use any painkillers or anti-inflammatories. Thai massage twice a week.
The motto for arthritis is " use it or lose it ".

In protest, several friends and I myself have decided to refuse to do the TM30 at all and just pay the fine.
The whole thing is ridiculous and an insult to foreigners. Immigration officers don't want it either as it just creates more work.
Don't stop there. All of you should lie down at the entrance of your IO.

What a ridiculous comment!
I did not get married to solve a 'fairly small problem' at all. I was actually married to my Thai wife for quite some time before I even came to live here. And I certainly do not find my wife an encumbrance at all.
What an insulting thing to say!
I was talking about people who get married in Thailand to get the more relaxed financial requirements of the marriage visa. Some do that because they can't afford the 800K, or raise a monthly transfer of 65K. Others, like you, because they want to have control over that money to spend as they see fit.
If you want to take my comment as insulting because of your personal circumstances, that's your problem, not mine. Use the ignore function.

Trump as a pacifist is something new.
He initiated the problem with Iran by trashing an agreement on nuclear development, and imposing crippling sanctions on the Iranian economy.
IMHO he's looking to make a deal. That's his shtick. Whether the Iranians want to deal with him is another question.

Trump makes his own rules, and does his own thing. America's allies really wonder what next.

Had I just read the topic headline 'Why Bother With The 800k Baht Method?' and plowed straight in with my answer, it would go like this:
Yes indeed why bother with this method thus allowing the Imm Pol to dictate to me what I can and cannot do with my own money?
I appreciate that some folks may not have a choice in this, due lack of sufficient monthly income. For my own part though, I am now in a position to make that choice. And, although the 800K is the easiest option, I will continue with the marriage method.
Thus I can decide what to do with my money.
Marriage to me seems a rather drastic solution to a fairly small problem.
My part pension is under the 40,000 baht/month threshold. My income from investments is well over it; however, it would be messy to be doing monthly transfers, not to mention the transfer fees and exchange losses.
If I ever left Thailand, I would get the 800K back. It's still my money. You would have the encumbrance of being married to a Thai, presumably with obligations.

I already know that vets use it, and so do people if they so desire, but I doubt it's easily available here.

Unfortunately, the drug you mentioned isn't available at your local pharmacy. If you know a source please PM me.
It's used as an anaesthetic for horses. That's all the hint I can give you.

800,1600 or maybe even 2000 baht on a bad day, but not 1900.
Sounds like it's a matter of pick a number, depending on which IO one goes to. Or sees.

If you do not report to CM Immigration within 24 hours to submit a TM30 when returning, you will face a hefty fine. Thanks CM Immigration.
I do my TM30 at the condo desk. A day later, I get my Receipt of Notification.
The tenor of your post implies you have to report to CM Immigration in person. In my case, that is incorrect.
A fine of 1900 baht is hefty? I pay more than that for a round of golf sometimes.

When I first came ti Thailand I drove past a police station fgoing the wrong way on a one way street, on a motorcycle with no helmet on.....try doing that in the US, the cop would shoot you, and in the UK you would never drive again. In Thailand all is forgiven.
Quite weird to go through a red light on my scooter inadvertently, only to be followed by a traffic cop about 50 metres behind me. Who then sped past me.

Get an electrician to fit an RCD to the heater circuit.
Heaters here are almost disposable items. One fails, buy another one at HomePro, Thai Watsadu, Global House etc. Most will offer installation for a fee. AFAIK Lazada does not do installation.

We have the worst air in the world from February to March.
And the most corrupt immigration office in the country.
Not to mention police stops around the moat and superhighway every day looking for bribes.
Just buy an air purifier for that period, and run the aircon when sleeping.
Never had a problem with Immigration. My 90 day reports and retirement extensions are handled by an agent, 8 years now with nary a glitch.
On the few occasions I have been stopped around the moat, it is by an American farang who works as some kind of volunteer for the police. Checks my licence, off I go. Have never been asked for a bribe, period.
Do you and I live in the same Chiang Mai?
The OP is more than adequately funded to retire here. My only caveats are - leave 80% of his assets in the US. Only put into Thailand what he can afford to lose.

Opinions differ. I have been driving a scooter here for ten years, a car for 7. Yes, many Thai drivers are morons with no spatial awareness. However, I have no problem provided I drive defensively and undertake constant risk assessment. It's the same principle as putting a seat belt on automatically when you get into any car.

Er - Americans have been bastardizing English since 1783. Expressions such as "collateral damage" and "friendly fire" come to mind. Plus the acronyms such as COMSUBPAC, which are a symptom of your laziness. You can't even pronounce aluminium properly. What the hell is "covfefe"?
Sure, roll like a Yank. With the infusion of MacDonalds and KFC into Thailand, that's all they will be able to do soon.
