  1. The letter isn't about proof of funds received, it confirms ownership of a back account and the balance on the day you apply at Immigration. I lump the rules because I can't change them, but neither you nor anyone else can prevent me from saying what I'd like. Thanks.
  2. In ten years I have never been asked to provide this. You set yourself up as some kind of expert here, it's ridiculous.
  3. I know the facts. It's also a fact that monthly bank credit notes and bank proof of your ownership of that account should be clearly sufficient. The fact that it isn't is my gripe. Don't say again that it is what it is. I'm aware of that.
  4. Snarky reply from you but as I said, the requirement is to bring in X amount of foreign income every month, which is proven by bank monthly credit notes. Nothing else. Not how much money I have in my bank account on any given day of the year.
  5. I didn't say these things aren't demanded by Immigration, I said they should be unnecessary for the yearly O/A visa, trip to Immigration. Bank stamped monthly inward income credit notes and bank book should be quite sufficient. That's what I said. The fact that Immigration demand to know my current bank balance antmy yearly expenditure is an invasion of privacy. You bring the money in, that's all they should need to have proven.
  6. I didn't say these things, aren't demanded by Immigration, I said they should be unnecessary. Income credit statements and bank book should be quite sufficient.
  7. No. This is the requirement from Hua Hin Immigration for a visa extention in country. Not a 'new' visa, who said that?. I never use an agent.
  8. I said the law does not require anything more than bank proof of sufficient overseas income. I did not say immigration don't require it, even though it does nothing to prove what you already proved with the income credit notes. Do you understand now? Similarly, Immigration 'may' require 12 months bank statements. Why? Not even standardised across Thailand for heaven's sake.
  9. I can't agree. I take the monthly foreign income credit notes stamped by my bank, that's all that the law requires. Why should I have to disclose my bank account balance on the date of visa renewal, and also pay for a letter from the bank confirming it? Why should the bank want to peruse my whole 12 months bank statements? My visa requirement is only about bringing in a certain amount of foreign currency every month, nothing else.
  10. Weirdly yesterday Krungsri raised mine to 1,000,000. I quickly changed it back down to something in line with my needs, in low six figures.
  11. Or even food shopping wearing only tiny black trunks. Phuket will be half empty.
  12. I 'liked' your original post and 'disliked' this one. Cojones? Attitude problem much?
  13. This has anyways driven my crazy with hsbc, no screenshots allowed. Krungsri don't allow but send copies of transfers to your photo gallery, reasonable compromise.
  14. My dvd from Bumrungrad Hospital included a copy of the program to view it on my PC. If I haven't been given a dvd copy of any scan from BKK Hospital or Bumrungrad they have always provided it afterwards on request free of charge.
  15. Through merciless support of the Thai tobacco industry
  16. Mate, unless you've been very good you'd maybe not come back a human anyway, that's why we have so many cockroaches around?
  17. No actually, not talking about death isn't denying it. You want to talk about go ahead. As far as I'm concerned it'll come when it comes, what's to talk about? I'm happily living my life in the meantime. I'm 68 by the way.
  18. Placet comes from the Latin verb "placere," which means "to please". In use in various European languages since the 1500s to mean an official vote of agreement or assent.
  19. This is at heart a simple matter. Many Thais worship at small temples where monks are honest and not looking for material wealth. Larger temples which gather much larger donations attract the avarice of senior monks who then even become prey to other vices. This is so well know to Thais as to hardly be worthy of comment. I'm not surprised that many/most Thai people, despite hating any criticism of their faith. want these criminals prosecuted to defend the purity of Buddhism. I wish the Catholic faith had the same fervour .... I am averse to religion in all its forms. Buddhism even professes not to be a religion. Nevertheless people should be free to PRIVATELY AND PEACEABLY follow their own faith, even Muslims. (Edited for speeling and grammer)
  20. Yes this applies also to roundabouts where many Thais just stop on the roundabout when they see a car approaching from the next entrance. My Thai lady says they just don't understand how roundabouts work, partly true maybe and could cause them to be rear-ended elsewhere in the world but its cause is being wary of the unexpected from other drivers (drivers like your friend). You need to remain aware that Thais drive this way (in fact any and every way!) and you shouldn't have a lot of collisions. 🙏🏽
  21. From what me Thai friends say very few drivers will be carrying a gun but too many have one at home which they will retrieve if they have the chance.
  22. This is a normal experience here.Yes I feel angry, my Thai partner gets more angry than me even. But I won't seek a confrontation, maybe her righteous anger helps me diffuse mine! I also drove for 13 years in the UAE and found that useless Indian drivers were actually more dangerous than the crazy locals. Anticipation is the key. Try not to get involved in deep conversations with your passengers too, keep most of your brain on the road ahead. 😊 My father was a British School of Motoring driving instructor 60 years ago and he instilled road awareness in my before I even a teenager. I don't find myself being in close shaves very often but its impossible to avoid 100pct IMO.
  23. I'm happy that I can avoid excess weight by using my Android phone. 🙏🏽
  24. "Thai food has always included plenty of sugar and deep-fried options, so that’s not new. Is it more dairy, cakes, and sweet drinks creeping into the average diet? " This is 90 pct of the problem. It starts with the sweet stands outside the school gates and goes from there. Plus fast food everywhere. Yes Thais have always had a sweet tooth, that's not the underlying cause, they love to eat regularly all day, that's always been the way, but its mainly food choices that are making a fat nation.
  25. Ludicrous idea. Plus the worst abusers of alcohol are Thai themselves. How many drunken farang kill their neighbours, wives, friends etc. with guns, axes, and knives while boozed up? Traditional values indeed....
