I suggest to stay in BKK for 7 days since you said you have a dry cough which is one of the symptoms to watch for. As others have said if you test positive you'll be quarantined in a medical facility.
If you travel North the villagers will be wary of you and most likely you'll be interrogated by the village officials as I was recently. If you transmit covid-19 to anyone in the village you'd be in big trouble as well as putting lives at risk.
Best to be safe than sorry with that dry cough - stay in BKK and self isolate for 7 days. if all clear then travel North if possible. If symptoms persist get medical help.

I just got back from post office in BKK thinking everywhere would be quiet -- its busier on the roads, post office and supermarket than ever before..
A 20 something girl stood about 4 feet from me in the post office without a face mask and coughed in my direction without covering her mouth..
I can foresee an absolute disaster heading this way.
Hardly anyone seems to give a hoot about social distancing!

Ensure a masonry drill bit is used otherwise you'll end up with bent drill bits and no hole..
Where did you buy the pull up bar, was it in Thailand?

To the OP..
remember where you are...
This is Thailand
Your suggestion is far too logical and compassionate for Thailand government to accept.
Safety last, money first!

I was at a public hospital in BKK yesterday for my wife's routine checkup appointment..
I couldn't believe they had about 100 people all turn up at the same time huddled together for hours all waiting to see the same one doctor. Social distancing was impossible.
They even locked all access doors so people couldn't get in or out via building side exit doors..
All it would take is a little planning to stagger appointments, hire another doctor or two and a guard on each door allowing those with a stamp on their hand to re-enter. Its not rocket science but no one dare question authority here.
..Its lambs to the slaughter.
..meanwhile everyone is sat watching the TV in the waiting room with Auntin the health minister asking everyone to social distance... no one lifts an eyebrow..
..ridiculous.

it has nothing to do with your beliefs about how effective a mask is.
Thais are scared now.
@NCC1701A are those white panties around your face?

I sold all stocks in December 2019 - seems it was a good time to sell!
Ive been cost buy averaging the major index funds for the past week on the way down including a few other companies I like. I will continue to buy now every week or so until all chips are in.

In 1918, while struggling to treat the Influenza, a new-fangled drug, Salycyalte, was used.
Aspirin.
This seems to have dramatically increased the death rate. One doctor is quoted as saying that a German drug killed more people than German bullets.
thank god its not 1918!

This is why local authorities they are so paranoid about people returning from overseas or from pattaya/bangkok. The villagers are very close together with limited resources and an outbreak would see everyone in the village get it. Their best hope is to keep it out of the village if possible.
Sad but true.

The difference between any other major crash and now is that now there were/are good underlying business fundamentals - this is major blip due to the virus. As soon as things calm down, a treatment is manufactured, the peak is over and vaccine is found my guess is that the stock market will have fully rebounded by then, i.e. gradually and upto 12-18 months from now.
Stocks sure do look cheap right now!

I had a similar experience from a recent trip to Isan.
I arrived back in Bangkok already however for the 4 days I was there I was monitored daily. First by a group of about 7 people as I mentioned here then daily by the village nurse who popped in to see if I had any symptoms yet.
I think they want to check everyone even Thais who return from travelling however what stumped me was the fact I had been i Thailand a month already. I guess if the virus gets to those little villages with no resources and people living so close together this would cause them a big problem.
We foreigners stand out and are easy to find and follow around hence why we are targeted -I truly believe its not because of racism - rather a fear of the virus.

This is for show only not to help people.
I have no access to the welfare system even after paying taxes in Thailand for 5 years since I was a director of a company.
Its a con, trickery, manipulation, whatever you want to call it - its a lie.

One would have thought that seeing your passport details about travel would satisfy them.
This sounds like not only boderline harrassment, but a waste of valuable resources
That’s what I thought too unless of course the government know the outbreak is much worse in bangkok than letting on?
or maybe the village officials are testing out their new procedures

The wife was determined to visit her mother’s small village in Kalasin province so a few days ago we drove up during Friday night/Saturday morning. Even at this time in the night I’ve never seen as much traffic all heading north from the city.
Once at the village within hours the village doctor called my wife’s family asking about the foreigner. This is understandable due to the covid 19 outbreak. My wife explained our movements and that we had no symptoms and that was that and so I thought...
...the following day the the same thing happened, the doctor called but also they visited the house. We were out at the local town market at the time so the doctor informed a neighbour they would be back tomorrow.
so today the doctor arrived with a government official dressed in uniform and no less than 5 or 6 nurses!
It looked like the entire clinic staff turned up. They asked me where I came from, recorded my passport details, asked about where I go out in Bangkok, took my temperature and took two photos of me sat with the visiting medics.
I told them I’ve been in Bangkok for many years and when I had travelled last and returned in February. that was all ok however before leaving they said they will be back tomorrow and every day we stay at the village to check my temperature.
so if you travel to isaan be wary of the extra attention you might receive at this time.
