I think that British is not telling the whole story. UK is not a high risk country, how did he get the virus?

He visited Hong Kong just like the article says..

..besides the English guy is probably concentrating on not expiring from drowning right now rather than pretending to not have the virus as you suggest

  2. I cancelled my work permit by attending the labor department with my work permit and passport. The receptionist will hand you a form to complete. All the staff I met didn't speak much English though so best to take a trusted Thai translator with you if needed. It doesn't take long, I was in and out within an hour.

You also might need some other documents for example approval letter from your employer. I took my company registration certificate etc.

All this ill-informed negativity towards Thai doctors.

What the doctors have tried is absolutely logical.  The virus is an RNA virus (as is the HIV virus), and as such, to replicate the viruses are dependent upon reverse transcriptase (an enzyme which creates DNA from RNA).  Drugs which block reverse transcriptase prevent virus replication.  This works well to stop HIV.  It could be expected to do the same for coronaviruses.

Thank you for an excellent post

What "things" cost more?  Not my electric bill, not my cell phone/internet, not my food, not my clothing, not my laundry, not my dates, not my health insurance (from USA)....  and I don't need a car here, huge savings.

Foods like lasagna, pizza, tacos, and beef hamburgers/steaks are cheaper elsewhere. Fruits like cherries or peaches are cheaper in other countries, but that is about it AFAIK.  Could you elaborate please?

Everything you mentioned except electricity (power) is cheaper in the UK than in Thailand, for me it is anyhow. The only reason electric is more is because of required heating.

the quality of everything is also better in the UK except for arguably dates ???? although I’m married and therefore irrelevant to me right now.

im currently on a winter break over in the uk and the wife cannot believe how cheap everything is.

  5. Things cost much more these days in Thailand compared to other places and even in western countries.

Regardless of whether one can afford it or not there comes a point when one must consider the value one receives for the cost and if it is still worth the cost or not.

After many years of good value for money some may just feel it’s no longer worth the higher cost.

  6. Just buy a regular wallet. You will end up with lots of coins and notes that won’t fit in your plastic card holder.

how much cash one carry’s is a personal choice although 2000 baht should cover most scenarios unless it’s a night out in the bars.
