  1. I noticed that my most recent 90 day stamp paper is missing from my passport. This is the piece of paper that is usually stapled into the passport with the next reporting day. I have been handing my passport to bank clerks and post office clerks who take a copy of my passport for everything I do. The piece of paper must have fallen out at some point whilst it was being handled and photo copied.

So, I went to immigration division 1 in Bangkok and waited my turn in the very long queue to tell them my paper was missing, I expected the  immigration officer to provide a replacement although the officer told me that I first needed to report the small piece of paper missing at the police station and then I do not have to return until my next 90 day report/stamp is due along with the police report. This seems a waste of time but maybe they has some reason for it. The fact the paper is loose in the passport and I need to show the passport when I need to get anything done at the post office or bank, seems ridiculous.

Has anyone else needed to do this?

Also, If i were to leave the country for a short trip from the main airport before my next 90 day report was due would I still need the police report to walk out of the country?

  2. Congratulations on receiving an offer for your property after just 3 months. My wife and I are considering selling our home (it was a new house 2 and half years ago in a nice moo bahn in Bangkok). I'm curious if you needed to sell at lower than cost or if you are asking for break even/more than you paid?

Does anyone else have any tips for selling an almost new home here? (should I use an agent/which agents to use/agents commission/taxes/expectations/etc..?)

Ok found something in the Tops, not sure what it was but it is called Saba its mackerel species and i think it was smoked or baked it was actually quite ok. It was not expensive and I think i can eat it again.  It was pre prepared so not bad 89 bt or so.

My wife and I eat Saba regularly. Its smoked mackeral already prepared. The norweigan import is about 89 baht and the local thai one (just as tasty usually) is 49 baht in max value supermarkets. Tesco started doing them cooked but they looked  a bit overdone and not as good.

I was going to mention saba in your thread but you beat me to it ? (the wife put me onto it as she orders it out a lot in Fuji and other places).

Its a nice meal, just watch for the bones I got one stuck in my throat once.

  4. Just updating the thread with my application. My visa is in the 'under review period' I have to go and collect it in about 1 week and I've had no visit to check at the home as yet... ..still waiting.

It has been Song Kran holidays in the previous month though, I wonder if immigration always visit the house or sometimes don't bother? (Im in BKK)

Also, if they do visit what should I expect them to want to see and do they ask any quetions?

  5. Just to update the thread, I went to Immigration division 1 to extend my visa and they told me I had overstayed my visa by 1 day. The reason is the extension was stamped 1st May and the 90 day extension was stamped 11th may, I honestly thought these two were one of the same thing and the '1' had not printed correctly on one of the stamps.

Apparently one of the stamps was visa extension and one of the stamps was 90 day reporting. I thought these were done at the same time at the same window but apparently that would be far too sensible, Instead I had to go to 2 separate windows to apply the extension of the visa and then another window and another queue to report my 90 day stay.

Anyhow I paid a 1 day fine of 500 THB and immigration kindly proceeded to accept my application of extension.

The bank book had to be updated again on the day of application but it was accepted. Just awaiting approval now. Thanks for all your help (Ubon!)

You will need a letter from the bank confirming your account and the balance in it on the date your written and copies of your updated bank book to prove the 400k baht has been the bank for 2 months.

I don't recall all the questions asked of your wife. The are just general questions. One is where your funds comes from.

    Thanks Ubon Joe,

I made it to Kasikorn bank today at 3.25pm and they had already locked the doors for 3.30pm so I was  a bit too late. I did manage to speak to a bank clerk though as he came outside to do something with the passbook machine, I said i needed a letter for account for my visa and he just gave me that 'I haven't got a clue what you are asking for ' look (I even spoke Thai to him but he gave the same look) probably because it was by now after 3.30pm. So i will go on Monday and hopefully be able to manage immigration on Monday or Tuesday too.

I hope the same documents (kor ror 2, dated January this year ) will be ok from when we did the 60 day extension back in Feb.

For the map I will just print Google Maps page and write on it. For the photos can I just print out some black and white photos or take black and white scans or do those need to be real photographs on photo paper? (We haven't 'had a photo developed for many years since the evolution of the smart phone and we moved into our recent abode just in the last couple years. We need photos from around the house?)

I can take a photo album with us showing our holidays together from over 10 years ago but out house is new so I wont have the house photos in there.

  7. My wife is well enough to come with me now so I plan to complete the extension next week.

Its been some time since I researched this and the wife's health has taken priority since then but with regards to the money in the bank, I have the money there and my bank book - do I also need a letter from the bank stating my balance? Isnt the book good enough on its own?

Also do you know what questions are asked of my wife at the interview? I have income into my Thai bank account from overseas with taxes paid overseas, will they ask any questions about it?

  8. I will see how it goes but I don't want to put her under that stress of immigration and questioning when she is in such a delicate state. I think I will need to plan to go out the country maybe to  start the process again. if this was the case could I apply for a new NON O from a local country maybe (Laos/Penang/KL) or would it need to be from my home country in the UK?

The problem is my passport is filling up too. Are there any other options for a 90 day visa so that I can stay and take care of my wife? After that I would be able to go to the UK, renew my passport and start the Non O process again.

I think you meant to say you got a 60 day extension of your 90 day entry.

You could wait to do the extension to allow time for your wife's health to get better. You do not have to it 30 days early. A week before your current extension ends would be enough time to do the extension and allow enough extra time to get any missing documents.

    Hi Ubon Joe,

It seems my wife may be in convalescence for some time. She is not out of the hospital yet and the doctor told me she may require treatment for some time and even when she goes home she will need weeks of home care which will take us past the deadline to extend my visa. That aside I could really do without the visa issue at the moment but its just bad timing.

When she returns home I don't want to have to have to leave her whilst I go flying off to apply for a new visa to start the process again - are there any options? Is it possible If i obtain a medical note from her doctor to care for her i could extend my visa by another 90 days? Im just trying to get the visa issue clarified so I can plan for her best care.

Hi Ubon, thanks for the update.

Yes I did mean 60 days apologies (a lot on my mind at the moment, the wife is very ill).

I thought I had to renew it so there was 30 days remaining of stay so they can provide me with the preliminary stamp first to 'check me out' etc then I collect 30 days later.

Anyhow if that is not the case now Im hoping my wife will be well enough to come with me. My 60 day extension stamp expires first week in May so then we can goto immigration end of April as long as she is fit enough?

    True or false please :-)

  11. OK so I went ahead and obtained the 90 day extension (1 time) and a couple months have passed so my 400k I withdrew from my investment account and placed in my savings account is now well matured and has increased in value as expected by a whopping...

    ..0%

But now I have 400k in the account and Ive almost used my 1 time 90 day extension.

I was planning to goto immigration again 30 days before the extension stamp expires (in 40 days time) but unfortunately my wife has taken quite ill and is in hospital having treatment. She will be there I am told for at least another week and I expect she will be recovering for some time.

What are the options for me now to obtain my first extention for a NON O visa for 1 year?

Will I be able to obtaina certificate from the Doctor on behalf of my wife and go to immigration myself? Will this be accepted? Nd if they visit the house over Songkran and my wife is poorley will they be reasonable with us?

Its all come at the worst time although my wife's health is my priority but of course I do need my visa renewing to be here with her to care for her.

(did I mention my visa was originally a 90 day NON O base on marriage and I've had a one time 90 day extension when my wife visited immigration with me already. I just didnt have the 400k in the correct account before and now my wife is too ill to goto immigration).

  12. I had to do this for an international account at Jersey.

All the banks are doing this now in the UK due to ring fencing and the CRS act that is an extension of the US FACTA act. My personal advice based on observation is to anyone not already doing so with regards to obtaining official proof of residency and tax id should get their ducks in a row pretty soon.

In the letter from the bank it described which documents could be used as proof of ID and address.

The documents needed to be notarized though which is the tricky part. I approached a lawyer in the same firm in Thailand who helped with my accounting which cost me about 2000 Baht to notarize the document. You can approach any lawyer though, I once got a document done at another firm I didn't have any existing business with as long as you explain what its for and they believe you and you pay up they will sign it for you.

I was able to use my Thai driving licence as proof of ID and address. Ironically the signed copy cost 10 x more than the actual real document.

  13. Thank you. So if I have understood correctly, I will be able to try to..

    1. Transfer the required funds to a standard bank account ASAP to meet 2 month time requirement

    2. Apply at immigration about 30 days before my entry stamp expires on the 3rd March, to extend my single entry 90 Day Non O visa based on marriage that would extend the spouse visit for hopefully another 60 days?

    3. Then during the extension and 45 days prior to the extension expiring I could then apply for the 1 year extension - is this correct?

    I appreciate your help!

Is it your visa that is expiring or your the 90 day entry from it that is expiring? If you have a multiple entry non-o you could get a new entry prior to it expiring.

If you cannot meet the 2 month requirement for the funds to be in the bank you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife to get more time and then apply for the one year extension.

That is done when you do the application. Immigration has a template they use for it that you and your wife will sign.

Thank you UbonJoe. The 90 day Non-O visa is a single entry so I guess I will need to try to extend it for 60 days if the funds are too late to transfer from a mutual fund to a deposit account.

Do you know if that 400,000 then needs to be seen as being drawn down for living expenses each month or would I be OK to leave it where it is for another year maybe?

Thanks for the extension idea I wasn't aware I could extend a single entry? Even a 30 day extension would be welcome.

    Thanks for the clarification.

  15. I've been travelling in and out of Thailand for years on 90 day visa's mainly but I was married recently to a Thai national and I'm going to try to apply at Bangkok for my a 1 year extension to my Non-O visa for the first time. My visa expires March 3rd and so I assume I can apply any time within 30 days prior to the expiration date?

I'm under 50 years of age so not at retirement visa age yet. I'm just wondering if anything is different or changed recently in 2018 to apply the extension. My concern is showing the 400,000 baht in an account for 2 months prior. I could put the money in over the next day or so but that would not meet the 2 month minimum requirement  before applying.  I do in fact have about 500,000+THB spread across 2 mutual fund accounts in Thailand with Kasikorn bank which both have passbooks to show the transactions and balances etc just like any normal bank book although I'm wondering if this will suffice as the required 400,000 THB? I've been topping these fund accounts up occasionally since 2013 which can be seen in the transaction and never needed to withdraw anything.

I also have a salary to meet the 40k/month requirement from our small Thai business but we are just in the process of setting this up and so I would rather keep the business income out of the application until I have time to ensure the business is fully setup and operating with enough Thai employees to warrant foreign work permit etc (I understand that is a separate topic but reason to leave this out of the visa application if possible to avoid any unwanted questions about the business that is being setup and number of employees etc). This is my concern really, would the Kasikorn bank fund accounts be accepted as the required money?

Also, the immigration website shows the following is also required:

    1.    An affidavit must also be submitted confirming the alien’s marital or parental status with a Thai national.

Does anyone know if this relates to a specific document from the Ampur (maybe kor 22 'proof of marriage certificate for foreigners' no older than 6 months old?) or is it maybe a declaration letter (and in this case would it need to be witnessed by a legal representative?)

I would appreciate any shared experiences or information you could share.

Why using a company account when it is so easy to use a personal account.

Also, Thaiepay is a lot easier to set up a payment pateway, especially if you use a Thai name, no need to register any company, just as with Paypal !

I set up online payment for Thai who makes 100k+/month profit and they also never paid any tax.

I am searching for facilities to support a legitimate business. Not for an individual.

    Hello,

is anybody using paysbuy omise payment on his website / shop ?

Are they stupid enough to require a registered company for a Thai business as many of them ?

Or are they as smart as Paypal that doesn't care if you are registered or not, especially if you are Thai and/or live in Thailand ?

    Thanks.

I just signed up to Omise for a test account and it looks like you can register a live account as an individual or a business. Different documents are required to approve the account type.

  18. Im looking for a means of accepting card payments for my Thailand based company and a potential software application we want to sell so thanks ryanhul for the mention about Omise as I hadn't heard of them before,

I already contacted SiamPay and they emailed me a long list of requirements which we probably could accommodate but we are just starting up the project and just want to test it out and it looks like Omise might be a bit more easier to get started with on a smaller scale and with what potentially maybe lower fees. The system looks similar to that of Stripe. I'll probably try to sign up. Anyone else had any experience with a merchant account for a small Thailand based business?

Also, our Thai company was given a savings account at Bangkok bank which is an account that doesn't have a debit or credit card available and all transactions are 'over the counter' only with a company stamp so its not possible to pay for online services such as advertising, hosting, and everything else, from this account.

I asked at one of the smaller Bangkok bank branches and they told me I needed to ask for a checking account at one of the larger BKK bank branches although I remember asking for internet banking for the company account a few years ago and they just said something along the lines of 'not available for this account'. I wasn't able to find an English speaking employee at this particular branch and so it was difficult to make any headway and regrettably my Thai language isnt good enough yet to negotiate corporate banking facilities.

Does anyone have any experience with a bank that is 'straight forward' to obtain a business debit or credit card for a Thai business or are there any restrictions and/or requirements to meet?

Also I suppose a personal visa/mastercard debit or credit card would do in the meantime to test things out but it would need to be for my Thai personal bank account. Im with Kasikorn bank and im not sure if the debit card would work online or not? Any ideas?
