  1. Yep, did the same a few years ago, I bought a 1198 ducati.
The DLT is not very helpful towards foreigners. I had all documents in order but they refused, luckily for me I had my wife with me.
I preferred not to get into a conflict so I put the bike in my wife's name.
Take a Thai with you, if you can someone you trust you may have to register the car in a Thai name.
You can transfer in your name but it will be stressful.

Can't find a list of inspection workshops.

Maybe this search helps (a dozen or more in CM city):

    https://www.google.com/maps/search/ต.ร.อ+เชียงใหม่/@18.7760818,98.9692131,13z

    (the ones with the "ตรอ").

Look out for the yellow cogwheel:

I visited the checking station Friday to have an inspection on my 2015 PCX.
Over the years I've had my renewals done without an inspection, less than 5 years old.
I wasn't sure if I needed an inspection this year so I asked the checking station if required and he said yes.
I had the inspection and was asked for 850 baht, I didn't realise that they can send green book to DLT, I paid the money and I was told to come back in 2 days.

My  plan was to take my inspection slip to my insurances company and have them do the business.

Today I picked up my green book.
I asked for a breakdown of the fees.
She said the service fee was 200 baht, the inspection charge was 60 baht, tax 100 baht. My CTP Insurance fee was printed 430 baht. Total price should have been 790 baht. I'm not fussed as it is a small amount but next time I will have my insurance agent do the business after having my inspection.
My insurance agent over the years has charged me 100 baht (service fee) to send my green book to the DLT for processing, so 100 baht on top of the CTP and in future 60 baht for the inspection. Total 590 baht.

Are you a hotel inspector or something? see post #22 that's definitely a hotel. I can't vouch it has a trouser press in the room though

Yep, as I said there are lots in Pattaya.

Arcadia Beach Resort is one and many more.

They look just like a hotel but not, usually a Condo or guesthouse or similar.

To the OP, you can get accommodation in Pattaya but it won't be a Legally Registered Licenced Hotel.

There you go, enough said, I'm out of here

You wrote in your earlier post "Why be a nuisance, let's keep this TVF professional with reliable information. " and then you want to talk about what is a hotel and what is not and if a hotel is properly licensed? The OP wants a hotel for his friends. I don't think he cares whether it is correctly licensed, whether the radio says it closed or if 99% of the hotel's look closed when you drove around Pattaya.

It's not about what you think.

    You're confusing things.

An illegal Hotel is not a hotel.

It's some dodgy person renting rooms.

It's against the law, Airbnb, booking.com.

The hotel had a 24 hour  reception, swimming pool, 2 restaurants ,(one with buffet breakfast) about 70 hotel rooms , room service from the restaurant, daily cleaning and was even named as a hotel. I booked it because it was a hotel and I wanted 24 hour reception. What else does it need to qualify as being a hotel? I know you have read that hotels are closed but looking at it logically there are still a lot of tourists in Thailand and they can't sleep on the beach. The order said  people already booked in can stay. I don't think anyone is going to go around every hotel in Pattaya and check how long guests are staying.

Yes, I agree, this is why Airbnb, booking.com are thriving.

They are agents, they do not have a hotel licence.

Must have been dreaming about the buffet breakfast and the pool and the sweet girls cleaning the room. Was in Jomtien I suppose not Pattaya.

Yes, there are lovely resort style accommodation, Arcadia Beach Resort is one. It has a lovely reception area and all the bells and whistles that a hotel has but is not a hotel.

They have agents that rent out rooms illegally.

The OP is asking about hotels being open.

I have been staying at the Intown Holiday Resort on Soi 11 in Pattaya for a long time.  Great location, clean rooms, well run, pool on the roof and under hotel parking.   They are open.   Agoda had about 30 hotels open some with rooms 50% off.

I have learned to laugh at these posting, feel sad and wonder why so many miserable expats stay in Thailand.

    Yep, your stay is illegal

Probably weekly / daily rentals which are illegal in Thailand

All hotels are not closed, and a few stays open for stranded tourists only. The rest can't/wont open for financial reasons because of no tourists, even domestic.

    What are you talking about.
Stranded tourists are not in hotels, they are in guest houses etc.
You can't book hotel accommodation in Pattaya.
    Do you live in Pattaya.
Go for a drive around, all shut.

The local radio station here 103fm broadcasts are saying that they are shut.

The OP is asking for information, correct information.
Don't bother commenting for the sake of commenting.

If you don't know the facts don't comment.

Why be a nuisance, let's keep this TVF professional with reliable information.

I think the purpose of this thread was how one gets a Thai credit card without a job in Thailand? The o/p is retired. You say you got a credit card during a period you were not working in Thailand, so is your point that KBank allows this to be done today or what exactly are you trying to say?

No, Im saying give Kasikorn Bank a try. I wasnt working in Thailand when I received my cards.

His post does not say he is retired, find below:

I finally got up the courage to ask if I could get a credit card from the bank I have used for the past nine years and received the answer "farang cannot".

Does anyone now what this is about? Is this policy the same in all Thai banks?

Didnt reckon I needed to spell it out.

Maybe you should take your time to read comments, there is no rush to reply/make comment.

Why would you want a credit card here anyway, most probably fees and interest is high and if it's secured on another account it's pointless

    1. I have never paid fees on my credit cards here in Thailand.

    2. I have never paid interest on my credit cards here in Thailand.

    3. My credit cards in Thailand are not secured on any of my accounts in Thailand, I have monthly limits. They do withdraw the owing amounts on my credit cards on the due date from my Thailand savings account

if I forget to pay or

if Im working and unable to pay due to poor bandwith on the rig.
