  1. Because just as I celebrate Songkran and Loy Khratong with her, I want her to share in my cultural celebrations. It's called being in a relationship.

Most foreigner/Thai relationships seem to be more of an employer/employee thing as far as I can see.

Try looking deeper, if that doesn't work, change your friends, if that doesn't work................uptoyou

  2. Let's see......So if Costas or David48 threw their votes over to Jingthing, we could then avoid

the dilemma of having a Lanna leader. Plus he deserves it considering the amount of posts

he has done. Most of which I agree with.

Agreed that JT is a consistent contributor

I agree he is a constant, sorry consistent, contributor, but do you agree with his posts? Or perhaps, hopefully, you are agreeing with the first two lines, but not the third, hopefully...........................

  3. An idiot tatooed by a crook

Why is one an idiot and one a crook?

Because if it because the idiot is being tatooed (sic), there are an awful lot of them about, hardly painting a great picture in regard to people who get tattooed, and the crook? Because he charges high prices, surely that is a case of offer and acceptance? Any other way of looking at it, is a crooked way of looking at life.

Unless of course, there is other evidence, not witnessed in this thread that I am not party to.

  4. So are suggesting Hitler should be censored in entirety?

It is in my view, a very important part of recent history, with many lessons to be learnt.

There was a couple of seconds of the video that showed Hitler, painting is a very important role in a child's development, if it is followed by information and debate. Can you tell me it was followed up with Hitler being delivered as a father figure to the nation, or propaganda by others?

If followed up by the father figure angle, I agree wholly inappropriate.

  5. indeed, and therefore any tenuous link with Richard III or any monarch before the House of Hanover is mainly a red herring, given that William of ORANGE was invited to take over the English throne , and he certainly shared little or no blood with the Stuarts or the Tudors.

It is a cosy myth that William was invited, it was actually an invasion, and the so called Glorious Revolution, was in fact a de facto putsch at the point of a rapier.

  6. For all the knocks, it keeps staying top of the listings.

    Bad publicity and all that................

For all those trying to do harm, are allowing the means to garner greater prosperity.

On that point, if you need to use such a solution, you are probably already in the know, so use your common sense, not the common currency.

  7. OP that's a long time, what do you remember most about Thailand in 1978?

Meeting my first wife and losing a camera to a thief because I walked off and left it. Tell me that would not happen in, say Singapore, the low crime state?

You don't recall The Thammasat University Massacre of October 6th 1976?

I would have thought that was pretty memorable. It was reported that 41 people died during the crackdown and 3,154 protesters were arrested and treated quite badly. I remember it well as it completely dominated everything else that year.

Uptheos, you asked what happened in '78 and then mention the massacre of '76, why would he remember a big incident in a foreign country two years before he landed for the first time?

If it is a typo, no worries.

  8. You can keep your wit,BUT

Say you bought a tshirt for 200 baht, while 3 shops down it is sold for 180.

Guess what? you have been scammedthumbsup.gif

To make matters even more funnier, both shops are owned by the same personw00t.gif

It does not have to be "in your face" scam to be scammed, so to claim you have never been scammed = you living in total and utter oblivion.wai.gif

Guess what? You haven't been scammed. To use a western expression, it is about offer and acceptance, they have made an offer, you have accepted, please explain where the scam is, because there isn't one.

  9. Fine ... there are always exceptions ... but the general question is there is no good reason for foreigners to feel nationalist loyalty to a country that is not their own.

As a large number of us do indeed have families here, many of us would have an excellent reason to defend Thailand.

People who have been here years and don't have type of connection to the country, I honestly feel a little pity for.

Funny. I "honestly" feel people who think they are Thai when the government of Thailand doesn't agree are delusional. coffee1.gif

Show me where JD says he thinks he is Thai?

  10. I see no gold, just love clamouring for attention, maybe just attention looking for a hand hold in a swell of affection. Yes, my kind of chaos, I could watch this all day, two young children just being children and two adults, what appears to me, just living the dream.

You could just walk down Walking Street, but me, much more fun watching chaos in motion, and just enjoying the moment.

  11. What are you suggesting in regard to the video? Please don't suggest Mary was a reformed prostitute, you are not that stupid.

It is almost universally agreed today that characterizations of Mary Magdalene in Western Christianity as a repentant prostitute or loose woman are unfounded.

I agree with your assertion of the western Christian theme, it was never anybody else's' in the first place, but why the reason of the video?

A thread on the ease of prostitution, and a song in regard to the 'Magdalene', which could be interpreted by some, because of the long standing belief of her prior life by certain groupings.

I am only asking for a reason, perhaps you meant nothing by it, but it seems strange to me why you did it, except to infer a long standing belief in western culture to undermine the strong female characters that have undermined the masculinity of man in western culture.

    You haven't answered my question.
