He also refused to wait inside a room. The man later left the country but his encounter was filmed on mobile phones and uploaded online.

The quick response from Thai authorities follows lingering sensitivity after the Phuket boat disaster.

So he had no onward ticket & no funds on arrival so how did he leave the country and where did he go to I wonder?

On the video,we don't know what happened before the guard

hit him,if the Chinese had stayed where he was supposed to

in the detention area, this would never have happened, some of

these Chinese deserve a slap, they can be very arrogant.

Thailand a bit quick off the mark to grovel to the Chinese.

    regards worgeordie

Agree 100%. The whole country like so many others worldwide are hooked on Chinese money.

Yes, but not Government Hospitals. There are many good private hospitals throughout Thailand (besides the expensive RAM and Bangkok Hospitals) that offer excellent services such as the new Ratchaphruek Hospital in Khon Kaen. I recently attended for an operation to have a small carcinoma removed from my neck and the total cost (including biopsy) was 12,500 baht. A colleague of mine had a similar "op" in our local RAM to remove one from the side of his nose - his total cost 48,000 baht. Both operations were done under local anesthetic and we were in/out the same day.

Bangkok Hospital in Chiang Mai is very good too - very efficient no long lines. On my last consultation there was no charge as I was deemed fit again.

He received a 10yr sentence. It will be very interesting to find out,if he ever serves just one day.

I think he will get off on appeal.......he got bail......he did not leave the scene......his provocations were minor.......he was facing a mob who had no business getting involved not the van driver.

this has been going on for at least 20 years and they had different tricks.

i knew a bloke from southampton years ago who ended up here and on his arse.

one thing they did. they would take his passport and make a fake of it.

he said he would check into the flight using his passport, in departures he would have to meet the person to be smuggled (flies in on a transit flight so doesn't enter thailand) and he would give them the boarding pass then he would simply walk(apparently could then and immo paid also) from departures to arrivals and simply join a large queue and enter back in to thailand whilst the other person boards the flight.

apparently easier to get on the plane with crappy fake passport if already through immo and have boarding pass.

idea being that person would then flush their passport in the plane and claim asylum and have no docs on arrival in european country.

another one was smuggling girls to japan to work in 'factories'. hookers basically.

so he would book a weekend away to tokyo with his thai girlfriend, arrive in tokyo, spend a few days there and travel back to thailand alone.

that's what he got caught for, he'd done it a few times and for not a lot of money, 25k a time or something.

he'd done it about 3 times and was on his way out of tokyo and they pulled him up.

Game over, ended up in jail in japan for the next decade, not sure whatever happened to him after that.

imagine all that's much more complicated now.

Nowadays when you go through departures/security with your boarding pass you photo is linked to the boarding pass and presumably your photo flashes up at the gate of boarding.

Why? . . . Do you think they had a clue what they were doing? If the English Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) had been properly asked for help, let's say by midday (Thai time; 6am UK) next day, Sunday, they'd have had a dozen expert cave divers or more, plus full gear, there by the Monday, with more to follow if called, and only needed the SEALs for portage and pumping. As it was, just 2 UK divers and a rescue logistics expert got there by Wednesday and that was with Thai officialdom 'running' the show. And with the utter chaos that followed, those kids can now thank their lucky stars they're back, playing footie, again. 23 jun to 19 sep, 3 weeks of which underground … that's a full 2 months that the Prayuth gang exploited these poor kids for.

Yes, let's see an official report . . . should be interesting.

What did Vern do that was heroic?
All he did was give experience of his previous adventures into the cave. He didn't put scuba gear on and enter the cave.

Hero's are the ones that went in. Not pontificating outside.

By all accounts it was an heroric effort by all involved - not everyone had to enter the cave to provide a valuable contribution.

musk has some mental issues not sure if he could admit to that and use it in his defence somehow.

with regards vern, he did bring the right guys to the cave and deserves praise, should have slated muskies sub a little more subtle but didn't deserve the response he got, especially the second time.

so he'll get an elite visa which will be handy for him but as he is no doubt on retirement visa all that really gives him is a few less hours each year doing his extension.

63 years old. couple of million USD from a guy as rich and obnoxious as musk, i'd bloody sue him too and enjoy the rest of my days basically. won't get the chance again

Dont forget no long queues at immigration elite are fast tracked.

It should be made clear that product ( an inflatable stretcher) is not the rigid cylindrical metal tube he bought to Thailand.

I would like to see more of the actual kit used in the rescue including the pumping units - the logistics of the operation were massive. I guess there will be an official report in due course - from the Navy Seals perhaps.

This man runs a dog shelter in Ban Kruat in Southern Buriram Province.I cannot remember his name but I think he is Austrian.

The shelter is a charity supported but donations from overseas.

At any one time the place holds about 150 stray and abandoned animals. The dogs are kept for a couple of weeks and if a home cannot be found for them they are euthanised.

Just too many soi dogs on the go with no natural prediture other than the traffic.

    Agree 100%!

Also, some people cannot afford beef, chicken or pork.

Cats and dogs are just as tasty - and freely available in every soi.

In India - they eat rats. In Esaan they eat rats,

In Thailand they eat snas, scorpions, insects. In Cambodia - Spiders

    China/HK, Korea they eat dog.

    In France, they eat horse

In Japan they eat dolphins, Minke whales and seals

In Canada, (or around there), they cull seals by the thousand - bludgeoning them to death with clubs.... don't they?

    In Australia they eat Kangaroo

In the Mediterranean, they eat octopus, shark and swordfish

In Africa - they eat what they can get. Monkey, elephant, crocodile

Why are the verminous, vicious canines thought to be exempt.

Cheap food and easily found. Butchered or not. They provide food.

BBQ'd is best. Cat tastes just like rabbit.

....and in survival situations humans have eaten humans......not to mention the victors in primative tribal warfare consuming the defeated.
