I liked the color,it was the shape (mostly the back) I hated.

Have you seen it in person? It looked pretty small.

That said, pretty hard to go wrong with a Toyota.

Yes I've seen one several times and being small is, actually, what i want. I didn't like the back too but, when all's said and done, it does look the better choice.

    I saw a new C-HR today,  it was a turquoise/blue-green with a black roof.

I hated the styling and thought it looked tiny.

I actually loved that colour but agree the styling isn't really great but i'm probably going to go for the green one and get the C-HR as its best value and easy to service etc.

Russia interferes with the election in favour of Trump and you see no problem with Putin praising Trump.

You don't think America 'interferes'?  Have you been to Russia?  know any Russian's?  I have and I do and they rate Putin very, very highly. Forget the 'interferes' BS and wish POTUS well for the summit!

Whether you like Trump or not it is in the worlds best interest that the summit succeeds. Personally I don't like the megalomaniac Trump but that is irrelevant.

Gosh, you need to get the last word or something? You don't get it do you? Let me spell it out 1 more time for you: The Brit was at fault. It was proven AND he confessed. End of story. No need to try to discredit the Thai family who lost their daughter to this scumbag. You try to turn the guilt away from the Brit? Why? Maybe you are a Brit? The story should not mention any nationality. It should mention that a guy who was drunk fell asleep while driving his car and killed a girl after hitting the other car. If they wrote the story like this you wouldn't say that the driver of the car who got hit was drunk. But now it concerns a Brit you try to shift the blame. Despicable

About me not knowing Thais (according you). I know a lot of Thais, I have a lot of Thai friends and I speak Thai as well. I work on a daily base with a lot of Thais and we have regular a party from work. There are not so many people who drink and drive and it is getting less. This is in Bangkok. I'm sure in the country side it's different.

Anyway, all this doesn't matter, since the Brit is guilty. I will not write any more posts in this thread, so rest me to say enjoy your time in Thailand.

Not at all I am against drink driving by anybody and I posted that several times. But I know Thais and I know they favour Thais you might think they love you but they tolerate you. Have a nice day.

  5. Thailand's greatest premier and Thailand first female premier deserve their break from the cesspit that is politics in Thailand. Neither were perfect and one was very greedy but no more than the others. I don't know a Thai who does not look back fondly to those days, happier times, times when they were better off than living under the Army rule.

The whole world knows the truth and they can travel freely and will always remind us of the injustice and hypocrisy that thrives in the Land of Guiles. They were no angels, just part of the rotten 'system' that carries on until this day. I wish them well and hope Thailand gets truth and honesty from the upcoming youth that is pressing against the Junta dinosaurs door.

I think you are senile already. It was clearly stated by the press that the Brit "tested positive for intoxication". Furthermore he confessed, so why are you trying to bash the Thai driver? Do you get a kick out of it as some posters like to bash Thai people or something?

You live here yet you don't know Thais and Thailand. You argue with half of TVF what's your issue?  The Brit will take the fall EVEN if the Thai was stinking drunk - get it?

I guess you didn't understand my point. My point is that the accident happened, because the Brit was drunk, period! NOT because of the Thai driver.

There is totally no need to spread some gossip based on your 'view' of Thais.

Yes, I know that quite a lot of Thai drink and drive, but also a lot don't!

FYI, I don't drink and drive and I have no problem if people get lenghty jail terms when driving under influence.

Even if they don't kill someone they should go to jail in my opinion, since you knowingly engage in an activity which can end in loss of life.

I hope this guy will spend a reasonable time in jail (equal to a vehicular manslaughter term)!

You don't know that you assume it because you READ it. Were you there?  have you seen the forensic reports?  I remember you said something like this to another poster you are biased, xenophobic and love your own opinion too much. The Thais will say 'because the Brit was drunk' even if the Thai could hardly walk and if you don't get this very BASIC thing here then you might be going senile.

Did you look at/consider Subaru XV?

Hi yes and I quite liked it but servicing etc. is the issue here. I'd rather stick to the 'main' brands and i'll probably go for the Toyota Hybrid because of ease of servicing, I like the green electric bit, i liked the colour choice of a green (bit different than all the blacks, whites and silvers) and it's fairly cheap. Not over, over keen on the 'Juke' look but it might grow ion me - love the toys too.

Whether it's "right" or not (I assume you're asking the ethical question as opposed to the legal one) depends on your ideology.

Because, according to my set of values, it's unethical to refuse to offer services to people - especially a disadvantaged subset of the population that lacks political muscle to demand equality - just because of something that is out of their control.  I think that SHOULD be the ethical position of somebody who claims to uphold christian values too.

Then what should minorities do when they feel aggrieved?  The case obviously had merit if it made it all the way to the USSC.

Shop elsewhere and make a fuss so others don't use that shop. I don't think it's 'unethical' not to serve someone just stupid business practice. Now it's ALL about minorities in the US and many are fed up with it, so fed up they vote in a megalomaniac to the WH and the nation is divided. You can't have your cake and eat it.

He can.  The issue was not that the baker was serving people who didn't want to be served.  Maybe you should have asked "why can't he deny service to whomever he wants?"  The answer to which lies within the text of the following laws:

    • Civil Rights Act of 1964 (for race, national origin & religion)
    • Age Discrimination Employment Act of 1967 (for people over 40)
    • Equal Pay Act of 1963 (for gender)
    • Pregnancy Discrimination Act
    • Immigration Reform & Control Act (for citizenship status)
    • Civil Rights Act of 1968 (housing discrimination against those who have children)
    • Americans with Disabilities Act
    • Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008

Hopefully 50+ years of case law answers your question.

Having said that, I am conflicted about this decision.  I think that sexual orientation should be a protected class but decisions are all over the place at this point.  If I had been the one denied service, I would have simply found another baker and then started a grassroots campaign to put the bigoted baker out of business as fast as possible.

This business lost their reputation the day they told Roseanne Barr to hold their drink.

Yes I do understand there is a ton of case law but is it RIGHT?  why can't a business owner, on ethical grounds, refuse to sell something? BTW is I was the gay 'refused' I would have done what you advise and cause a stink on social media etc.

America is so litigious and PC it's lost it's soul and it panders to minorities constantly. BTW I loathe evangelical Christians so this is not a shout out for them in any sense.

The evidence is there a drunk foreigner. But your of the opinion that a drunk foreigner drives better then a sober Thai. Your also forgetting about all the good Thai drivers. People who think like you (not saying you do the same) often drink and drive as they are of the opinion that even drunk they drive better as Thais.

Yes and he may well have been drunk (the Thai) but that will be ignored and 'cleaned up'. We live here and we know there is not much justice here so do NOT drink and drive - simple!
