I do not know if her family is aware or which company or is , but she or her family can file a complaint with the ombudsman against insurance company and may well win . They can also take insurance company to court.

I can 100% guarantee her travel insurance will not pay to have the surgery done in Bangkok. Insurance covers emergencies only (maybe). If it is possible for you to get home you will be expected to do so and have the surgery on your home healthcare plan.

Why is the engine never used (downshift, lower gear, or use parking brake) on these supposed brake failures in an emergency/catastrophic situation? Mind boggling
because they ARE NOT TAUGHT what to do in situations like this..and never will be

A box junction is a road traffic control measure designed to prevent congestion and gridlock at junctions. The surface of the junction is typically marked with a criss-cross grid of diagonal painted lines (or only two lines crossing each other in the box), and vehicles may not enter the area so marked unless their exit from the junction is clear, or they are intending to turn right and are prevented from doing so by oncoming traffic, or other vehicles on the box waiting to turn right.
Box junctions were introduced in UK during 1967, following a successful trial in London.[1] In both Ireland and the United Kingdom (where cars drive on the left), drivers may enter the box and wait when they want to turn right and are stopped from doing so only by oncoming traffic or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.[2]
Similar yellow boxes may be painted on other areas of roadway which must be kept free of queuing traffic, such as exits from emergency vehicle depots or level crossings.
Box junctions are most widely used in many European countries such as Cyprus, Ireland, Malta, Portugal, Serbia and the United Kingdom; in parts of the United States,

From the OP...
you are completely WRONG nothing to do with making drivers slow down....it means do NOT enter unless it is clear to do so.....OK

There are already traffic lights there controlling the traffic right of way, you have already stooped by the time you see this ridiculous criss cross pattern so how on earth are they going to make any difference whatsoever? The people in charge of this decision have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
you are absolutley correct.....a waste of yellow paint too....

I do think that they care, but no one can change the mentality of Thai drivers, no matter what "driving education" they would get.
their brains CAN NOT TAKE IN any road safety or laws of the road herein lies the BIG PROBLEM!!

Taking away his license would not help much since we know that most Thais drive without a license. Raise the fines because the only time they will learn anything is when you take their money.
raising the fine only contributes to the Police Christmas Party !!
Have him BANNED for 12 months....I thort, weeks ago there was supposed to be a new system OF POINTS ON A PERSONS licence if breaking laws of the road !!

I don't own a gun, but if I caught someone climbing in at night to my kids bedroom, I think it fair to say that there would be a violent welcome. Will be interesting to see how this pans out at court. You should have the right to protect your family inside your own property.
you WILL NEVER get to know how it pans out....I agree with your last sentance
