With the much improved Pattaya Beach I have high hopes for this. Last year was a let down as most of the Beach was closed due to the work, and the parts open were rubbish strewn. Only  concern is how hot it is....  I preferred when it was in the high and cooler season.

it is always hot in this area....do you know what the average daily temp is??

If you don't go to Bali Hai, how do you know they have not been full for weeks/months....?

my comment was based on talking to others who have travelled on said ferry.....

The Thai Land Traffic Act very closely resembles the British Highway Code.

In the British Highway Code the Amber light is an Instruction to stop before the line, if safe to do so.

Thus, if its wet and there's a HGV behind you - don't slam on the brakes, it's not safe to stop.

But, if you are not surrounded by traffic and the light turns amber with enough time to stop, you should stop.

I don't think its illegal to go through an Amber light in the UK.

However, the translation of the Thai Land Traffic act is not as clear... i.e. if you are doing 50kmh 5meters before the junction and the light turns to amber, it's impossible to stop, thus the fine could be harsh.

Depending on your speed in the photo you posted - it looks like you may have had time to stop on Amber.

Section 22 o the Land Traffic Act.

    Meaning of traffic light:

Green: the driver may drive the vehicle through

Yellow: the driver shall prepare to stop the vehicle behind the stop line. If the driver has passed the stop line when the traffic light turns yellow, he may go through.

Red: the driver shall stop the vehicle behind the stop line.

amber, if I am right means approach with caution and if safe to continue then do so.

Plus it shows that the light will, very soon, change to red so be prepared to STOP....

The current ferry is only doing 1 round trip a day, when it could easily do 2 in daylight or 4 working 24hrs.

So the other two ferries were just a dream.

think they got the other 2 from China months and months ago....then nothing was mentioned about them HENCE my question

so just in case Royal one was full??

It has not been full for weeks/months.....

Have a look at this youtube around the 8.30 mark and you will see Royal 3 + 4. Plenty of other videos around so will likely have Royal 2 as well. Seems to be shot in March this year, so rather recent.

Maybe a trip to Bali Hai might also satisfy your desire to see them 'live'.

This was reported by a local driver, not ex-pat, and I am sure that there is no clear proof of any illegal act. The driving of the pick up was scandalous and caused the "victim" to swerve and clip the car on the inside lane as he wasn't aware of the car to his left. As said already typical Thai driving, the car that swerved and clipped the third vehicle was also originally hogging the outside lane.

The car that got clipped was driving steadily and didn't appear to be a part of a plot to defraud and it looked to be in a very good condition and not the type that scanners apparently use.

of course it is an illegal act....someone could have been killed/injured....

surely dangerous driving or even attempted manslaughter ...if car being hemmed in crashes and driver/passengers are dead ir injured...

Jomtien immigration have never asked me "what do you live on?". I bring in cash every year upon returning from my annual home country visit, usually less than USD$20,000 so it doesn't have to be declared at customs. I own a condo, and my monthly expenses are about 30,000 baht a month. I use the 800K in the bank method to qualify for a retirement visa. How can a guy like me provide proof on what I live on in Thailand?

It seems foreigners are guilty of working in Thailand, without any evidence proving they are working, just because an immigration officer decides he is working. Maybe this is just another way of steering more retired person to visa agents and getting fatter brown envelopes.

been here ten yrs NEVER been asked "what do I live on"

All well and good until the policeman says (and he will), "Now listen, sonny, for texting on the phone whilst driving it's a 10,000 baht fine and your phone crushed, OR give me 5,000 (or any amount he sees fit) and you can go on your way doing the same thing."

And, we're back to square one.

your comment re removal of mirrors..... I have seen BRAND new bikes for sale and on the road WITHOUT mirrors, as a friend of mine said to me one day "they are optional extras.

I was taught that I SHOULD KNOW WHAT IS BEHIND ME when driving hence I use my mirrors a lot when driving my pickup, same goes for MOTORBIKES/SCOOTERS

They have boy scouts classes in schools every week. Why not make cycling proficiency a course and a scout badge.

they used to have this in uk I got one....but they are so far behind every other country here they NOT follow what other countries do in respect to teaching/learning young kids what to do.

How many kids does one see riding bycycles and learning what to do on roads here??

    Not many in my opinion

I did a quick search, which confirms phutketrichard's statement.

If the mail-in option presents undue challenges, you can also designate a third-party, presumably back in Hat Yai?, to perform the 90-day report for you.

yes I have heard a third person can act on ones behalf....as no signature is required.

Or perhaps use an agent....I see many at Jomtien doing many reports...
