The ( money ) printers will run hot ... but Recession will come anyway .
The $ will go where ...?
What is going on now, is not really a stimulus program designed to keep the country out of recession. . It's basically a life raft. But there will be a severe recession and possibly worse if a massive stimulus isn't applied once the coronavirus situation is mild enough to allow people to return to work.
"Well, what happens is that just as the economy is ready to recover, mass layoffs of school teachers, mass cutoff of unemployment benefits undermine the nation's recovery. This could end up being in a way, a little bit like what happened in 2008-2009 when we had a pretty effective response to the crisis, but then went to fiscal austerity, which meant that the recovery was very, very slow.
Even though this is a very different kind of crisis, we could have the same kind of story. "

AKK wasn't her daughter in law, but she was hardly promoted on her outstanding qualifications, was she? Same with UvL.
In regards to the scientists at the CDC Trump has been unfortunate to be handed some problems, such as the CDC not designing test kits on time and then not ones that work, which threw back testing. Fauci's flip flops also don't exactly fill one with confidence.
It's probably fair to say, based on Trump's meetings with Bill Gates that Trump is not a scientific genius, like with most leaders they will delegate to the experts. Isn't that what Trump is doing?
Give the kid a chance? Why would you even consider giving the "kid" a chance? Is that because there's no one out there better qualified?

Is giving the kid a chance what you call delegating to the experts? Really?
ANd please give up on comparing Merkel to Trump. She appointed politician who had success in the political field to a political position. She didn't appoint a relative to a position that he or she was utterly unqualified for. A position that people's lives depended on.

Germany has done great, so let's not pretend otherwise.
Singapore, HK, Taiwan and South Korea (after it's initial shock) have.
So is Sweden. Have a look at how they're coping.
Actually Singapore, HK, and Taiwan performed a lot better than Germany or Sweden. In fact their performance is remarkable given their proximity and/or level of travel between these nations and China.

Yes, I'm aware of all of that. My point is there never seems to be 100 Million or even 5 Billion to avert a catastrophe, or make our society more resiliant, but $6 Trillion is readily at hand, without question, without reading the details, in a matter of days. And 5.85 Trillion of that was agreed by both parties even before the negotiations started. The MULTINATIONAL corporation's interests came well before the people's.
What exactly does the 6 trillion consist of? I believe you are using that fact that 500 billion can be leveraged into 4 trillion in loans. Or am I mistaken?

Better than France, Spain and Italy though
I believe it had a head start in those other countries. To accurately compare it's best to have a timeline dating from the earliest known cases of local transmission.

Its amazing how folks think lies and spin will become true if they simply keep repeating it.
I know what you mean. Take the lie told by the Kremlin spokesman that the medical supplies were a gift from Russia. All Trump had to do was say this was false. And yet he didn't? Why is it that he is so reluctant to say anything that might be viewed as negative about Russia and Vladimir Putin? Even when the lies actually diminish his standing?

It's a really great question with little current scientific evidence to support why New Orleans death rates materially exceeds New York.
On the assumption that both populations mostly follow the SAD diet and are similarly obese, it could come down to differing lifestyle habits. As an aside, rice and beans provide a complete protein source. Add green veggies, a few fruits, and cost of food for the poorest is low and should be manageable.
The three main USA killers are heart attacks, strokes and cancer, and obese people are at a high risk of blocked arterial plaque which the Covid19 virus could exploit on its journey to the lungs. Which still doesn't explain why New Orleans has a higher mortality rate. N.O. county also has a low smoking rate, so that's not an answer.
While race could be a genetic factor there are twice as many black americans in N.Y. state than in Louisiana. So no answer there.
i would suggest that the health care in N.Y. is far more capable of prolonging life than N.O. - and more financially accessible by the New Yorkers. Being poor in N.O. would hinder their recovery if they cannot afford the meds.
They're not similarly obese.

As for African American population it's
25.1 percent for NY City

Here's a link to an article that explains why modeling Covid-19's course is so difficult.

And here's another to show the consequences of that:

The US paid for it.
Well, at the time he and the rest of us had no reason to believe otherwise. On the other hand, the Trump administration was very slow to make a correction. Especially given this statement:
"Trump gratefully accepted this humanitarian aid," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was cited as saying by the Interfax news agency on Tuesday. Trump himself spoke enthusiastically about the Russian help after his call with Putin."

Aircraft carrier captain removed from duty after pleading for help with coronavirus outbreak
The captain of an aircraft carrier struggling with a coronavirus outbreak has been relieved from command after a letter he penned pleading for help leaked to the media.
Capt. Brett Crozier was relieved from command of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly announced Thursday.
Crozier wrote a letter to Navy leaders that was obtained and published by the San Francisco Chronicle on Tuesday, in which he warned of dire consequences if most of the sailors on Roosevelt aren’t evacuated.

Pretty vague claims. How much more would you like some other guy to pay? And how much do you think it will change our revenue?
Maybe go back to the levels of the 1960's when the gsp growth rate of the US averaged over 4 percent. And when workers' standard of living consistently improved.

An anti-body treatment which could beat a vaccine to the punch? Bill and Melinda must be spitting blood.
The immunity antibodies give is relatively short lived. So it's great as a treatment and a short term preventative measure. But if you want a long term way to keep the virus in check, then it's vaccines. So no, not only are Bill & Melinda not spitting blood, but I heard they were actually popping open bottles of DP to celebrate this and similar promising developments.

The Russians don't agree with you on who the common enemy is. Do try and understand that China is a huge economic presence that shares a long border with Russia. There is no way that the 2 will not become more economically intertwined as time goes by.

Should this end up being the case , then any support I have for the Democrats would be greatly diminished.
What warped and selfish logic mixes 'prestige' in with giving and receiving in a time of need?
Some of these whingers are the first to complain that nobody ever helps 'helpful' America.
But perhaps this statement is just media again "poking the elephant" in their lust to create more 'news' .
"Before Trump the US played a leadership role in helping other countries in crisis. Now Russia and China are the world leaders and the US is reduced to accepting handouts from Russia."
You confuse unpreparedness with economic might.
Graciously accepting support in a crisis is a key part of diplomatic relations .
Not doing so , for Your People , indicates a basket regime - aka Myanmar and North Korea !
If there was no evidence that Trump repeatedly attempted to slash the budget for the CDC and didn't take the pandemic seriously until March, you might have a point. The resources that the US commanded to lead the world in responding to international emergencies are precisely those that Trump attacked. With the result that not only was the USA grievously unprepared to help the rest of the world, but even itself.
