  1. Ha! Don't they mean they want super rich tourists who have so much money they don't care about the state sponsored dual pricing and they don't care if they are constantly going to be ripped off by the locals!?
  2. well yes, if the swiss guy's version of events are true and he is still jailed there will be a few worried looking farangs thats for sure. And to rub salt into the wounds we know for sure that a Thai guy defending himself and his property in the same way would defo be praised. And if you are a Thai guy in a uniform you don't even need to be acting in self defence (or so it seems).
  3. defo more to this story than meets the eye. The fact that the wife is admitting she knows the deceased and he'd made advances which she turned down... very suspicious. If the Swiss guy was threatened with a gun then good on him for defending himself. Let's see how this plays out...
  4. this is what happens when people get hired because of who they know/pay rather than on what skills they possess!
  5. An absolute disgrace. So they are saying that over charging anyone who is not Thai is okay because it benefits Thailand... well if this is not outright state sponsored racism then I don't know what is! It's truly shameful.
  6. amazing what you can achieve with a set of big fake boobs! I bet if a group of the ex soi girls got together and started a car washing service (hand washed by hotties in bikinis) they would make an absolute fortune!
  7. scandalous. Which ever way you look at this it is scandalous. Either Anutin and his cronies are so disorganized that the offer of a million doses does not reach him (highly doubtful). Or they are so inept they cannot complete paperwork to enable the importation of the vaccines (also highly doubtful). Or, he simply doesn't want to accept the donation. Hmmm now I wonder which it could be.
  8. I went to a shooting range just before the pandemic, I had to walk passed all the top of the range bmw's and mercs in the carpark (owned by the wealthy Thai's who came to use the range). I asked for the price list - surprisingly okay prices I thought to myself. Then the lady behind the desk casually grabs the price list and flips it over without saying a word. The same price list with "for foreigner" plastered across the top and all the prices doubled. Lovely!
  9. its simply not the Thai way to admit the truth... protocol requires to tell a fanciful, totally over the top and unbelievable lie that everyone knows is a lie. Anything... absolutely anything is preferential than admitting the truth. Welcome to the circus!
  10. These publicity stunts are getting more and more pathetic. They caught a guy that overstayed his visa... take a big <deleted> bow! Let's put on a big presentation and show everyone how great we are at catching 'bad guys'. Last week they paraded that old Hungarian lady around and proudly patted themselves on the back like they had just brought down the cartel. Honestly, it's like children at play time. They are an absolute joke... a laughing stock.
  11. the reckless drivers of course!!! They often walk away from these tragedies with a fine and a slap on the wrist.
  12. You are absolutely right... and it angers me that there is so little in the way of punishment for reckless drivers that endanger lives on a daily basis. It just doesn't make any sense that these drivers are not held accountable. Its madness...
  13. I certainly agree that corruption is endemic in Thailand, it runs through every artery, vein and capillary that keeps this country alive. I wasn't aware of its extent until after 8 years of living here - and I have to say I never see it changing. It is part of the Thai way and culture. Will it be Thailand's downfall? I don't think so as this is how it has always been. But I do think it will stop Thailand from ever developing into the country that it wants to be. How can progress ever be made when you have a country built on corruption. At every single position of power and responsability from the bottom to the top (whether it be in the govt, police, army, schools and many businesses) sits a self entitled puppet without the right skills, abilities or technical know-how to do their job efficiently and well. These people occupy these positions of power and responsibility simply because they have paid to get there or they have an important family name. The people that do possess the right skills to do these jobs will never get the chance to do so. It really is a sad state of affairs. Ultimately, if I decide to do so, this will be the main reason I see myself bringing my 10 year old son back to the UK - I just don't see him getting a fair opportunity here.
  14. You got me scratching my head on this one. I am merely offering the opinion that China did not act out of 'goodwill' but was purely motivated by profit. If you think otherwise you are entitled to that opinion.
  15. I reckon you hit the nail on the head with that assessment!
  16. ...the point I was making was that there was no goodwill... they were not trying to help Thailand... they were not doing Thailand any favours... they just wanted to profit hugely from Thailands situation. And to talk about 'goodwill' is sickening and disgraceful.
  17. Goodwill!??? Didn't these Chinese vaccines cost Thailand 3 times as much as the other vaccines? And they talk about goodwill. What a joke!
  18. I would love to see the video of this... i encounter these van delivery drivers on a daily basis driving like they are in a formula one race, bobbing and weaving inbetween cars at high speeds endangering lives. I'm sure this guy is no different.
  19. I don't see it being a problem at all. When I came to Thailand with my 2 year old son he entered on his British passport (thats all he had). It was a good few years later that we applied for his Thai passport and just used that to exit Thailand - no questions asked. I wouldn't even bother with the trip to immigration... when you go and renew the Thai passports you can mention it to them and see what they say. In a nutshell - nothing to worry about!
  20. i have multiple gmail accounts. Takes seconds to open a new one... just do that!
  21. I'm talking from personal experience. I don't think there has been a focus on foreigners at all. I registered on the expat site very early on and still awaiting for an appointement. Many expats are still waiting. I have spoken to my wife and her sister (Thai's) and they cannot think of a single Thai person (family or friend) that they know, who hasn't had their first jab. Maybe her and her family/friends are just lucky and are not indicative of the actual stats - I don't know... but it feels as if the expats are right at the back of the queue for vaccines.
  22. the numbers here are completely worthless. Everyone knows it. Now that Thailand has gone on the red list its just another reason for the stats to magically start improving. What angers me most is that they will reopen Thailand asap and yet the majority of expats are still unvaccinated. But who gives a flying <deleted> about that right!!!
  23. not much difference between this and that police guy who shot the noodle seller in the South. And look what is happening in that case. Even though he admitted everything and is caught on video shooting the guy, the police are now rallying to concoct some ridiculous story about the police guy breaking up a fight and mistaking the noodle seller for a 'bad guy'. They have mysteriously found witnesses to back up their nonsense so it is all heading in one direction... he gets off without a day spent in jail. Same will probably happen here. Amazing Thailand!
  24. I see the staff in my local amazon and 7/11 do the same thing... but they do it after every customer whether they are Thai or farang. And who can blame them!
