Me and girlfriend applied at thai embassy in phnom penh for 2 Thailand tourist visas... Applied last Thursday and picked up Monday... I'd probably use an agent next time cuz not the friendliest place... Agents still say they can do it and we did it so it's possible.. Probably a must you have paporwork in order

Did you have previous Thai tourist visa in your passport when you applied there, or was it your first application? Apparently that can make a big difference in Phnom Penh.

  2. Denouncing Israel's government's toxic policies and track record of crimes against humanity isn't at all anti-Semitic, although they (again, the government) love to promote the idea that it's just anti-Semitism disguised as criticism.

As for that quote, no matter if it comes from Voltaire or from a neo-Nazi, I cannot find any fault with it at face value. There are things and groups that you cannot criticize pretty much all over the world, it's just that what those things and who those groups are differs wildly.

Well it seems that Savannakhet remain with the walk in system but, obviously, lots more of traffic is going there.

I remember Savannakhet when it was nice and quiet.

If you avoid applying on Mondays and Thursdays (when the visa run vans ship tons of people there), Savannakhet should still be fine. You'll need some documents not needed in Vientiane though, a bank statement and a ticket out of Thailand.

  4. Can't they just visit that place, find that there's no prostitution going on whatsoever and report that? If it works for Pattaya's Walking Street, of all places, it should work like a charm for Chiang Mai's massage parlors.

On a personal note, the one and only time I visited a "traditional massage parlor" in Chiang Mai, extra services were being offered. Let's just say that I wasn't surprised.

My best guess is that the annotation is code for "only admit this passenger if they have an onward flight out of Thailand within 24 hours". Essentially, it is a heads up for other immigration officials at the entry points that enforce the unofficial rule that someone must be a "genuine tourist" (whatever that means) in order to enter using a tourist visa.

Very far-fetched, unless you can actually read the entire stamp and make sense of the "code" you are guessing to see. It's no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of Thailand's IOs, but I don't think they go that far in their scheming.

Even at Don Mueang, arguably the worst airport for ENTRY as a long-term tourist, IOs manning the EXIT booths couldn't care less - I just flew out from there today, and as many times before, without any issues or comments or secret codes put into my passport. The only thing worth reporting is that I got fingerprinted for the first time. Nice machine, wished me a good trip in my native / passport language once it had all my fingers.
