The Investing Year Ahead
swissie replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Here we go again (once more). Not long ago, most financial analyst found that Gold can only go one way = up! Only disagreeing how much "up" it would be. Only confirming an old rule: If everybody including his Uncle have joined the bandwagon, it's time to leave the party. Lo and behold, Gold has "corrected" significantly since. It remains to be seen if Gold has only "corrected" or turned into "sleep-mode" that can last for years. It has happened before. NOTE: Currently most analysts have concludet, that the US markets have only one way to go: UP ! I am getting increasingly nervous, especially as my Uncle bought some US tech-shares lately. -
Great guitar players come a dime a dozend. As such they admired each other, knowing well that their talent to write good songs were basically non existant. Without the talent to write songs one can only remain as a" good craftsman". Hendrickes "Hey Joe" is the only thing that will remain of his efforts. Becks efforts have been long forgotten as they were without significance. Just a good guitar "craftsman".

Thank God, the Ukraine has an endless supply of young and willing soldiers. Dwarfing Russian human resources. 😂

Everything seems to fall into place as I predicted. Best case: The Ukraine will "give" the eastern Ukraine to the Russians, cementing it by a "demarcation" line like we have it in Korea. That would be the best case for the Ukraine. But why would Putin agree to such an agreement, especially as he is winning this war. Donald is not going to make any difference.

Amazing, we always hear about the horrible losses of the Russian army. Whereas Ukrainian losses are never publisised. How is it possible, that the Ukrainian army has no losses, but still losing the war?

At this point, it is unknown who will win the election. But one thing is for sure: Under both candidates the Federal Budget Deficit will increase some more. For the first time in American history, just to service the dept will cost more than the defence budget. Food for thaught. Cheers.

You may have a point here. In the US as well as in western Europe, parlamentary decisions were always in favor of the political/financial Elite for the last 20 years. (Don't hurt the financial Elite). While "the working class" is satisfied to defend their meager pay increases over the last 20 years. The "little people" find it increasingly disturbing, why the "rich" are getting richer and they themselves are getting nowhere. Maybe, what's happening in the US is just a harbinger of things to come in the rest of "the western world".

Abortion? Financially underpriviledged women (the "Husband" has disappeared), must now travel to a state where abortion is still possible. Often depriving them of their last financial means. Long live "American State Laws".

Mainly that Trump wants to "detach" the US from Europe. Since 1492 (Columbus) America and Europe were a political/economical powerhouse. Making civilisation possible. Now, Donald wants to make friends with other potentates, west of California. His preferrance to Autokratic Regimes is well documented. Always west of California: China, North Korea, Russia. Never East, as there are western democracies that oppose a "New Cesar" having started out as a well furished real-estate developper. No wonder, that Donald doesn't like the european concept of democracy.
-
Thank God you have found out that only Democrats produce "fake news". Donald is above "fake news". Every word he says is "gospel". (Of course, as he is the Messias). Welcome to the "sect". Formerly known as the Republican Party.
-
How long will you be a respected Republican party member if you oppose some of Donald's views?
-
Donald has turened the Republican Party into a "sect". Him the "Messias", the high priest. As the Messias, he will not care much about any "platforms".

The 2 stratetic errors of the Democrats. a) Accross party lines, most Americans want some sort of "Deportations" of illegals. (Kamala has not joined this bandwagon). b) There is a number of white voters that will never vote for a black female for president. Under no circumstances. Those missing 1 to 2 % will prevent Kamala from becoming president. 2 stratetic errors of epic proportions.

Thanks. I use windows 11. I am a user. I always thought that the only "administrators" sit in Silicone Valley or Coppertino. Honestly, to high for me. Scary, what one must do to re-establish control over ones computer. Appearantly, no big deal for Internet users. No outrage! "Eat what Bill Gates serves you for dinner" and be happy that Bill allowes you to be part of his universe.

Maybe this will help to find the culprit. Browser is Mozilla Firefox. VPN is Nord VPN. Adblocker is Adblock.

Never mind the outcome of the US elections. The very fact that half of American voters are willing to vote for Donald is cause enough to be alarmed. The rest of the "western world" simply doesn't understand this phenomen. Every empire must decline. Is it so, that half of Americans want to stem the decline, by voting some modern day "Wizard of Oz" into office, to make America great again. Him not having any concrete and valuable plans as to how to achieve this? Is Donald's success based on "desperation"?

Appearantly, I have lost control over my laptop. On websites, I want to apply my own settings. By the next startup, standart settings are back in place. My settings were simply ignored. Has this something to do with the the latest Microsoft update? Or is my VPN or Ad Blocker the culprit? Also: Writing an e-mail via Hotmail is ridiculus, always some "text recommendations" and other unwanted "recommendations" pop up while trying to type. On SKYPE I receive "required translations" although I never ever required any translations. I can't believe that I am the only one affected by such things. What's going on? At any rate, I feel that I have lost control over my computer.

That's the point I am trying to make.

Visit Basel (Switzerland). The desire to evaluate "statistics" will be greatly reduced. Especially as the Ukrainian refugees have no interest of ever returning to a devastated country. A country they were not interested to defend in the first place, No wonder that returning Ukrainian "refugees " will not be welcomed back with flowers and singing the "National Anthem". Rather having them disqualified for live. And rightly so.
-
Twist it and turn it as you may. I have spoken the truth. The decision who to marry is still vastly different between a modern day "western woman" and a Thai "flower of the Isaan".

A vast aerea of the Ukraine can not be considered a "war zone". Overwhelmingly, most Ukrainians do not feel the urge to "flee" to western countries. But, alone in my small home country, there are now over 70 thousand Ukrainian "refugees". About 15% are gainfully employed, the rest enjoys the benefits of "social security". Among them a great number of "able bodied young men". Will all those "refugees" receive a warm welcome once the war is over? Rather not. They will stay here, claiming they would have to fear "repercussions" in the Ukraine. (like the Russian prisoners of war, returning back to Stalins empire). That will be their narrative. A slap in the face for those Ukrainians that have decided to stand their ground, instead of heading west to explore the benefits of the western social security systems. Finally: The status of "refugees" must be re-defined, Otherwise (due to climate change and endless political turmoil) half of the African population will end up in Europe, enjoying "refugee-status". End of.

If AN members could vote in the USA election, who would we vote in?

True words spoken. Upon the fall of the Berlin wall, ex chancellor Helmut Kohl assuered Putin that there would be no "eastward expansion" of NATO. But that's exactly what happened. Looking at the map, as a Russian, I would also feel "encirceld". The eastward expansion of NATO was absolutely uncalled for and entirely unnecessary. Always keeping in mind, that NATO is not a bunch of Hula Hoop dancers but a military organisation. AND THAT IS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. And, making it more "spicy": In the eastern Ukraine people speak and think Russian. Something like a "homecoming".
