Thai really do have a short memory, Not too long ago, Phuket was crying to open up and allow tourists to come back Now that the tourists are back they have this idiotic idea of red and yellow cards By no means i am justifying tourists behaving badly, but what did they expect from a large influx of people with alcohol being available on every corner and under each bench? Name a place in the world, where such a large number of tourists does not cause problems? How about tripling police force and have them present 24 hours a day, actually patrolling the streets instead of either sitting in the police station or an occasional ride by? Bali is no different, with some idiotic ideas to punish tourists. How about being pro active rather than reactive? Ii wonder what they would be saying once tourists will say enough of this stupidity and skip Phuket and head elsewhere? cry again? may be because in Singapore they get paid the same irrespective of where they work, while in Thailand say if you work at Pattaya or Phuket immigration you make a lot more than sitting in the airport. Also as silly as it sounds, would it not be wise to recruit people who actually want to work in the airport, instead of forcing people to move from their homes thousands of miles away to work else where and then wonder why they unhappy and not doing the job?

If I am not mistaken they are comparing rates 3 years apart, leaving out 2 years where prices were slashed by as much as 90%. what they have also failed to note now it is shoulder season going into low season in 2019 but remains high season in 2023 due to 2 years of restrictions. better would be to compare prices in January 2019 to prices in January 2023 to see if any changes doing a light search to me prices look about the same and plenty of cheap rooms around. but most importantly to note costs have also gone up, electric almost doubled , so unsure why anyone expects for rates to remain the same
