has expressed concern over the potential sale of substandard or near-expiry products in holiday gift baskets. To combat this, strict guidelines have been established, mandating clear labeling on gift baskets, including product names, types, manufacturer details, quantities, expiry dates,

Makes sense. The 'cooked food' they put out at my local upscale market, is product that has been on the shelf for days. They cook it & try selling before it turns rancid.  They must do that or worse for the New Years baskets.

On another forum we play  ‘wham a geddon’. This year the UKers and Ozites were decimated, early.  An unprecedented slaughter.  Central airport is my danger zone. The mall has a Japanese syntho pop xmas loop. It is offensive, but their ‘Last Christmas’ is a cover version, so I live. This could be my year.

  3. No idea about other countries but in the US, for sure, golf had class & political elements associated with it. Only recently has that changed.

JFK was a very good golfer, the best President golfer period. Far  better than Eisenhower (a duffer) who liked to hang out at golf courses & tournaments. The country club set.  Golf, for a long time was thought a rich, Republican thing. JFK kept his golf hobby under wraps. the American public for the most part, never knew he golfed. Not good for his image or political base.

Funny anecdote. When in office JFK joked to his staff, being POTUS had perks. He now could golf at private clubs in Boston and Massachusetts. These clubs had previously blackballed him. The Kennedy clan may have been mega rich but the power structure (and private club owners & members) of old Boston, and the US, were White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. No Irish allowed, no matter how much money.

That is the America I grew up in.

However on second glance, it's the pilot who is the hero. Not all heroes wear cape’s.
He could have diverted to Kolkata, Delhi, Madras, or even Yangon. Oh Yeah, What fun  . However, he knew they would have to overnight, given refueling, &  flight time req’s for pilots. Plus Dhaka must clear enough to open, it could be longer. He made a command decision … ‘Diverting to Bangkok’

    We have the Power.
    We have the fuel.

Pull out the aviator shades, Punch on Danger Zone –
Que up ‘One Night in Bangkok’. I bet the crew was going nuts at this news! Woohoo!
Obviously, he has The Right Stuff. This pilot deserves a medal.

Couldn't possibly be the huge jump in airfares or the cost of living crisis that has deterred western tourists.

I seriously doubt this is what TAT is having a masterplan meltdown about. Thailand hitched their donkey cart to the mighty Celestial Engine. Only to have that mighty engine start chugging & wheezing, with serious and potentially long term economic problems. In a bad economy you change your travel plans & those coveted celestial tourists dry up. Thailand is up against it now, however this is last thing TAT or Thailand can publicly admit. Blaming it on naughty influencers or negative press in China seems the only option permitted.

Now lets crank up local tourism.

  6. Generic Western Christmas main menu items with a seafood bar. ?? heh

No menu for this year. From last year; Turkey, Ham, RBeef,  a large selection, of main and side dishes; western, thai & asian. Seperate salad, seafood and dessert stations. We go to the brunch not the dinner, I assume the menu is the same for both.

Jesus Christ how much longer did she need to go on for. He put her sad demise down to Covid killing her. He omitted the fact that she will have been ancient which was the main issue.

Things I learned during the recent Wuhan Flu.

    1) A serious mortality rate is ok if it's mostly oldsters.
    2) Collective public health measures that inconvenience me in any way are despotic socialism.

Some have been shocked, at how easily people throw other people under a bus. Not me I've always known there are a lot of people out there, who are absolute pieces of excrement.

  8. Same. Only once, long time gone. Far from where we live(d), even back then. We did go to the the Khao Soi cafes on Fa Ham - Charoen Rat rd. Nowdays, we do not make special trips for Khaosoi, just have it when we run into it. Likely due to 'oldfartitus'.

  9. Can you cross the pacific in under 7 hours? Flights via Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan are longer than 7 hours to west coast. That leaves  stopping in Korea before flying trans Pac or via Hawaii. I do not know the leg’s air time for either route. Both could easily be longer  than 7 hours, but that would be where to look.

And via Anchorage, as Bendejo posted, flying from north asia.

according to a former Democrat MP. Thepthai Senapong today (Dec.7) posted on his Facebook page

Woohoo! Burning news direct from a facebook page of a former MP, from a party that can't win elections, but depends on gang green to keep it relevant. Might as well flog it to farangs ... maybe they will think it is news.
