Well to put it accurately, not mildly, 5 years is not "way over the top" for a corruption and misconduct charge for senior government officials.

What is "way over the top" is his putting himself in the position of committing 21 corruption and misconduct offences.

Finally you answered my  Yes or No question (re: whether or not a 50 year jail sentence for using a government vehicle for private purposes is harsh and unreasonable).............

After several more posts of uttering  gobbledigook desperately trying to justify the unjustifiable.

The 21 separate charges were for "corruption and misconduct by senior government officials", not "using a company car privately".   And they only got 5 years for each charge.

A core principle of criminal justice -

Let the punishment fit the crime.

Question for you: Did the judges in this particular case follow the above principle?

A simple yes or no will suffice.

    Thank you

Get it done exterminate Hamas if the Palestinians want relief they need to rat out the barbarians that brought this debacle down on their heads

Since Hamas live amongst the 2.4 Million Palestimians in the Gaza strip, your request to 'exterminate Hamas' can only be realised in exterminating the whole population living in Gaza.

    You're ok with that scenario?

    Here's some interesting reading concerning US-Thai business agreement;

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Amity_and_Economic_Relations_(Thailand–United_States)

So this treaty disallows American investment in the following business sectors:

Communication, Transportation, Banking, Insurance, Legal, Investment, Land exploitation incl. Mining, domestic Trade in Agriculture.

In addition, Land cannot be owned.

Which basically leaves Manufacturing as the only business sector to operate in. Where there is ample competition from countries such as the ones already mentioned.

...... and a heart-warming welcome back to the old guard, the military stooges and bootleggers.

After all they did a stellar job moving the country forward and keeping the peace and happiness amongst the people.

What on earth have you been smoking?

  6. To all those super tough, intelligent and wise punchy keyboard warriors aka Neanderthals stating ....

He (clearly) deserved it (smack in the mouth) culminating in "they should have gone harder on him" ....

please google the term "cerebral haemorrhage" caused by signifant blow(s) to the head.

Since this is a life-threatening condition and the reason why he was rushed to hospital, one can only assume obnoxious verbally abusive behaviour justifies being beaten to an inch of of death. Seriously???

Right, how dare they to defend themselves after they got hit first! And by the way, when someone attacks you you have the right to take them out so they can’t continue to attack you, it’s called self-defense, which is exactly what they did! The Brit’s should’ve kept their hands to themselves and accept the fact that they were asked to leave and that’s all there is to it!

Incorrect - there is a big difference in legal terms between self-defence and retaliation.

The bouncers actions without doubt were an act of retaliation.

  8. To the many posters which seem to lay the blame entirely onto the Tourists including pointing out that it is 'common knowledge' to never argue with Thais for all the known reasons and retaliation by the bouncers is absolutely justified since the older Brit slapped one across the face.

    Consider this:

The ones at the receiving end of this mayhem were genuine T.OURISTS and possibly first timers to Thailand.

It is certainly not common knowledge to them how to deal with fragile and unhinged Thai Egos.

Furthermore, anybody condoning punches followed by kicks to the head by 2 or more cowards while already on the ground in response to a slap by a 60 year old as justified retaliation, has moved way beyond accepted social norms.

  9. 6 days ago, Mr. Chuvit - the whistle-blower-in-chief, insisted that Thaksin would not return on August 10. His claim was roundly dismissed as "nonsense" by Thaksin's daughter. Judging from his past record, I tend to agree with Chuvit. He also predicted that no new Prime Minister will emerge on August 4 (today).

It seems to me, this guy already knows how this sorry saga will play out in the end.

Please somebody ask him who will be the new PM at some time in the future. It would put an end to  endless speculation, anguish and the enormous waste of time.
