Big falang lottery winners in Thailand?
Burma Bill replied to Sandboxer's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Not in my experience when living up north in Phayao and Khon Kaen Provinces. I used to cash my winning Thai Government Lottery tickets at the local gold shops - for a small fee! (20 baht for 2,000 baht and 40 baht for 4,000 baht). Never any problems for this UK farang. -
With respect, I do not get your gist about "murder". Very sadly, the Thai fisherman who died, drowned when he jumped into the sea along with some of his workmates. No suggestion of being shot or murdered by Burmese naval personnel. For reference: "Three fishermen jumped into the water during the incident, one of whom drowned while two were rescued by the Thai navy, Thanatip said" https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/myanmar-navy-fires-thai-fishing-boats-detains-31-fishermen-thailand-says-2024-11-30/ Personally, I detest the current Burmese Junta and hope it will soon be erased from power.

Grounded: Thai AirAsia denies ticket fraud, blames airline app
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes indeed, when I lived in Thailand, that was the method of payment I always used. I just showed the printed booking reference from my home computer and it was immediately confirmed on cash payment. Never any problems then and now. I live in Cambodia and still use Air Asia however I cannot pay at a 7-11 and have to use my Cambodian bank's VISA debit card. Again, never any payment problems via the Air Asia website on my personal computer. I do not own a smartphone. -
Big falang lottery winners in Thailand?
Burma Bill replied to Sandboxer's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When I lived in Lanna, I won twice on our local "mafia" lottery, 30,000 baht on each occasion. For me, these were big wins compared to the 2,000 and 4,000 baht wins I received on the official Thai Government lottery. Our local lottery was based on the same winning numbers in the official lottery, the difference being "odds" on how much you placed on your numbers - anything from 1 baht to 100 baht (in my case), even up to 500 and 1000 baht! The more you bet, the bigger the winnings. -

Very much so, with drugs and alcohol thrown in as well! -
There are, as expected, contradictions to this news report. 15 or 50 Thai fishing boats for starters and even an admission by the Thai Defense Ministry. For reference: The Thai defense ministry earlier said two of 15 Thai fishing vessels were fired on when they were 4-5.7 nautical miles (7.4-10.6 km) inside Myanmar's territorial waters https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2024-12-01/thailand-protests-myanmars-navy-firing-at-thai-fishing-boats IMO, the Burmese Navy, despite Junta operated, has every right to protect its fishing grounds within its territorial waters from illegal Thai fishing boats. I wonder what the Thai Navy would do to stop illegal fishing by Burmese boats within Thai territorial waters. Send a submarine armed with torpedoes?

Perhaps she liked sex "doggy style"! During my career as a UK police forensic scientist (Biology), sex with animals was not uncommon. The most favoured animals (in the UK) were dogs, cows and horses/donkeys. On one occasion a chicken was the victim, but this must have been the most unusual:- Last year, a London doctor was found guilty of possessing footage of bestiality, including a video of a man having sex with a snake. https://www.theguardian.com/world/datablog/2017/jun/21/bestiality-animal-sex-laws-zoosexual-community Perpetrator - wriggle out of that one!

I totally agree. I used to regularly eat goat meat in Mombassa, Kenya. Delicious, especially when served in a curry! -

AOT confirms facial recognition for international flights
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
WRONG! I flew from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (DMK) on the 14th November and the facial recognition system at the Air Asia check-in desk was not working. All passengers were lined up checking as normal. In fact the camera was covered by a display placard informing of cabin baggage size and weight. -

Simon, out of interest do you sleep throughout the night with air-conditioning switched on? This may be of interest:- (Google) Yes, air conditioning can cause bronchitis symptoms: Mould A dirty air conditioner filter can lead to condensation, which can cause mould and mildew to grow. Mould can cause respiratory problems like bronchitis, coughing, and sneezing. Bacteria and dust The components of an air conditioner can harbor bacteria and dust, which can cause respiratory problems. I regularly get my air- condition unit cleaned, courtesy of my landlord.

With respect, you must be joking, especially in rural Thailand where a bunch of twigs with leaves is the most used warning sign. So a pile of rice drying on the road may be indicated by a bunch of twigs. Of course, no use at night! Warning signs and flashing lights would be far too expensive for most farmers. Photo shows a broken down pick-up with a warning "sign"!
