  1. Parts manufacturers turn to hybrid, not EV, point out 30@30 target is still far away Office of Industrial Economics Revealing preliminary survey results with a group of internal combustion vehicle (ICE) parts manufacturers preparing to enter the electric vehicle (EV) industry. Just 10%, demand is not rising strongly, there is still time to adjust. Turning to feeding hybrids instead, the 30@30 target is still a long way off. It is expected that in the next 2 months we will see clear measures to help manufacturers of combustion car parts come out https://www.prachachat.net/economy/news-1586172
  2. Carmakers flock to reduce production capacity. Chinese EVs park 10,000 vehicles at port Thai car market collapses, lowest in 10 years, Japanese car makers-Chinese EVs Encountered a difficult situation, carrying swollen stock, running to find a warehouse with full parking in every area, Laem Chabang, Chonburi, Rayong. Japanese manufacturers in Thailand reduced production capacity to one shift and stopped paying OT. While the number of EVs imported from China is not running, the Prime Minister said that more than 10,000 vehicles are parked at the port https://www.prachachat.net/motoring/news-1586856
  3. I think there is a huge difference between the case in Thailand and the familyguy case in the UK If you remember familyguy was asked to pay for a full set of replacement batteries for a MG ZS EV 2023 and everything associated with the battery model at a Baht equivalent cost of B1,024.719 In the Thai case the largest ticket items are the Electrical Distribution Module B32K , Labor costs for drying and cleaning B2.5K and Change EDM box B2,5K Total cost B36K It seems that there is a possibility that water can enter through the pressure vapour values There is also a pressure ventilator in the headlamps https://www.facebook.com/groups/359204678507982/permalink/1111055489989560/ On MG ZS EV Generation 1 2019 it has been reported that some MG owners have had to claim on their car insurance as MG stated that water ingress in battery isn't covered by warranty https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=5375673082481225&set=p.5375673082481225&type=3
  4. 2 late for this owner I'm another big battery bite rat. The center is very helpful. Coordinate with insurance. Insurance operates to change a big battery https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/permalink/820990310007752
  5. BYD Dolphin and Atto3 2023 models Spraying rat-proof fertilizer and installing rat-proof gap cover for the front wheel. (It's a free service. You should start installing cars that were produced in year 66 first https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/posts/820379143402202/
  6. Seems the car in question was in a service centre due to accident https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/permalink/820050933435023
  7. From an automotive manufacturers point of view they are primarily focused on number of sales with the rules of the EV 3.0 they are also focused on registrations as it not until the vehicle is registered that the government releases the subsidy back to the brand or importer Its simple for sales numbers each year you look at registration figures from Feb 1st to Feb 1st Byd registration figures from Feb 1st 2023 to Feb 1st 2024 for all types RY1 RY6 is 37,478 which is close to the 40,000 sales figure for 2023
  8. I am not fudging official figures as you state , the official figures are based on registrations not sales Byd state their sales target for 2023 was 40,000 and it seems they got very close to that figure with DLT state BYD registered 30,467 for the whole of 2023 DLT state BYD registered 7,806 for January 2024 so the combined registrations for January 2024 and the Whole of 2023 is 38,273
  9. Your flogging a dead horse hear Someone looking to buy a EV in December 2023 they would be told currently B150,000 subsidy on ev cars if you purchased by 31st December and registered by 31st January 2024 or if you prefer wait until next month where we don't know what the pricing will be but we do know that the subsidy will be B50,000 less
  10. DLT state BYD registered 30,467 for the whole of 2023 DLT state BYD registered 7,806 for January 2024 When you add both figures together you get close to the approx 40,000 sales target that BYD had for 2023
  11. When both sides sit down to thrash out an EU-Thailand FTA agreement i am making the assumption that for Thailand vehicle exports to the EU they will be aiming for zero tariffs agreement or very close to a zero tariffs Now i expect someone on the EU side will point out that the current tariffs for EU vehicle exports to Thailand are subject to 80% tariffs and that figure will need to be re-adjusted
  12. You appear to be disputing that BYD sold nearly 40,000 vehicles in 2023 ignoring the statements by BYD that they sold nearly 40,000 vehicles in 2023 On January 8th Autolife Thailand published that BYD total registrations for 2023 was 30,650 cars clearly that number didn't include the 7,806 vehicles that were sold in 2023 but registered in January 2024 https://autolifethailand.tv/total-ev-bev-register-2023-thailand/
  13. BYD Thailand have a target of 150,000 vehicles per year with a local minimum content of at least 40% from day 1 so approx 12,500 vehicles a month so meeting the requirements of EV 3.0 is potential possible I assume that they would keep 10,000 vehicles for domestic sales to avoid flooding the domestic market and 40,000 vehicles for export https://cnevpost.com/2024/03/29/byd-ev-plant-thailand-to-start-production-q3/#:~:text=
  14. I am not fudging the figures as you stated BYD have clearly stated they were on target to sell approx 40,000 vehicles in 2023 BYD reveals plans to enter the EV market next year, pointing out that electric car measures 3.5 will push prices up Rever has set "cautious, but realistic targets" for this year, after delivering 40,000 BYD cars in 2023. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/EV-makers-offer-deep-discounts-as-Thai-auto-market-weakens Mr. Wisit Pittayawiriyakul Managing Director of Reve Automotive Co., Ltd., the sole official importer and distributor of “BYD” electric cars in Thailand, revealed that BYD's electric car marketing in Thailand is considered successful. Success beyond expectations This year, it is confident that sales will reach 40,000 vehicles https://www.thairath.co.th/news/auto/2749643?fbclid=IwAR3o8g0oqfqUZa5ocM0aVs0Nxcu3Fcc5XnoJhce6TEm1833FY6ozh2oxX1g Your claim ". A massive proportion of January registrations were actually delivered to the customer in January." you have no evidence to support that claim Now we see from the Thairath report that BYD didn't know how EV 3.5 would affect pricing in 2024 Buyers would have been told in December to qualify for the EV 3.0 subsidy vehicle needed to be purchased by 23:59 31st December 2023 and vehicle to be registered by 31st January 2024 It is in BYD own interest to state their final sales figures on 23:59 31st December 2023 as that affects the number of vehicles locally produced in 2024 a straight one to one ratio Sales for 2024 are based on a 1.5 ratio to number of sales
  15. 2022 BYD registrations 371 2023 BYD registrations 30,467 plus January 2024 registrations 7,806 Total 38,273+ 2024 BYD registrations 5,036 excluding January 2024 registrations I think EV 3.0 is for every vehicle sold until 31/12/2023 1 vehicle to be locally produced in 2024 and if the brand not able to produce locally in 2024 1.5 vehicles in 2025 and all batteries must be locally sourced from Jan 1st 2026 So for production 2024 BYD needs to locally produce 38,644 to account for all sales up to 31st December 2023 For 2024 their total sales this year is 5,036 to date so in 2025 so will need to locally produce 7,554 vehicles (equals 1.5x)
  16. It will be interesting how the EU Thailand FTA agreement goes will the EU use the current 80% import tariff on EU exports to Thailand as a starting position
  17. These additional tariffs are extra to the existing 10% tariffs which means BYD 27.4% Geely 30% SAIC: 48.1% https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/06/12/eu-to-slap-extra-tariffs-on-chinese-electric-cars-in-a-bid-to-close-competition-gap Volvo moves production from China to Belgium https://scandasia.com/volvo-moves-production-from-china-to-belgium/ Turkey currently has 50% import tariffs on Chinese EV imports from July 7 there will be an additional 40% tariff taking total import tariff to 90% https://carnewschina.com/2024/06/11/turkey-surprisingly-impose-40-tariffs-on-chinese-evs-from-july-7/
  18. In the recent case that reached mainstream media the car was a Seal Performance so the savings on old price vs new price is 8.4% excluding vat
  19. From examining the CCTV footage at 3:42 a.m. today at the scene of the incident. It was a dark road, the light poles were not activated. As the electric car was driving at speed, it lost control and crashed into the center of the road until the lights flashed. Spinning around in the air It fell and was parked in the middle of the road. Then a fire broke out and engulfed the entire car. Firefighters were found at the scene. Along with 2 water trucks, they sprayed water on an electric car, Neta brand, unknown color, red license plate number A 4106, https://mgronline.com/local/detail/9670000049928
  20. There is a huge incentive for EV dealers and Brands to get their vehicles registered asap as they sell the vehicles with the EV3.0 or currently EV 3.5 subsidy applied however they don't receive the subsidy from the government until the vehicle is registered The only incentive Suzuki have for getting their vehicles registered is to get those figures into the monthly stats published by the DLT https://web.dlt.go.th/statistics/index.php
  21. These are not all sales numbers they are registration numbers and it includes Sales figures from December 2023 which become January 2024 registrations The registrations numbers for BYD for February 2024, March 2024 and April 2024 total combined figure is 3,097
  22. I seen loads of Posts about EV in Thailand such as a number of posts relating to the Seal that needed a replacement battery and the dealer workshop, brand and insurance seem to be playing ping pong and none of them taking ownership of the issue until the owner decided after 20+ days and no replacement car to bring issue to main stream media where it seems resolution decision was made same day
  23. And if you had bothered to read the article the driver in the article was 100% positive that neither him or his wife had driven through water Didn't stop the MG dealership claiming initially claiming there was water moisture in the battery that required full battery replacement
  24. Clearly you didn't bother to read the link or you would have understood the article you might be in the same position in the future
  25. I don't know where you get the over 8 years old the car in question was a 2023 MG ZS EV and the final repair cost was zero to the car driver since it went from not covered by warranty to being covered by warranty Diagnosis - damage to HVM module (located within the battery pack) and corrosion to low voltage connector and wiring. Repair - Replacement HVM module, repair to corroded wiring and pins in the low voltage connector.
