Car Dash Cams, any recommendations?
vinny41 replied to Keith5588's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
from the link provided Lithium-ion batteries may pose a serious risk of explosion and fire under prolonged exposure to extreme heat. I assume if you want dash cam to record after parking you would want one with a proximity sensor that turns the camera on for a short period and then turns the camera off again normally this dash cam is either connected to an always on fuse in the fuse box or an OBD-2 port -
Car Dash Cams, any recommendations?
vinny41 replied to Keith5588's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The two main types of batteries used in dash cams are capacitors and lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are common and can last between 5 to 10 minutes on a full charge, enough to wake up and record an incident while your car is parked. A capacitor on the other hand does not hold a charge but will require a constant power source. While both have pros and cons, understanding which type best suits your needs can help with your overall experience. https://www.grdian.com/resources/lithium-ion-vs-supercapacitor-understanding-the-difference-in-dash-cam-batteries You should look for a dash cam with Capacitor Batteries This is a useful site with lots of information also check which brands do firmware updates as not all do https://dashcamtalk.com/ -
Meanwhile in China limited placed on % of new energy vehicles on ferries Myriad of issues for NEV owners The difficulty in securing ferry tickets for NEVs leaving the island is mainly due to Hainan’s Department of Transportation rule that the number of NEVs carried on a ship must not exceed 10% of the ship’s vehicle quota, and the total number of vehicles must not exceed 18. This is because the environment of a passenger ferry could compromise the safety of electric vehicle (EV) batteries — NEVs are prone to fire in high temperatures or when they are not charged properly. https://www.thinkchina.sg/more-chinese-ev-brands-falter-market-realigns

That 26 Ciaz's sold in 1 month compared to 1 EV sold in Mae Hong Son Province sold for the whole of 2023 it reminds me of Matt Lucas's character Dafydd Thomas, 'the only gay in the village clearly once you step outside of Bangkok, There is little interest in EV's second place is Chiang Mai, with 3,083 vehicles, and in third place is Chonburi, with 2,392 vehicles. Number 4 is Songkhla Province with 1,614 cars, Khon Kaen 1,409 cars, Rayong 1,283 cars, Ubon Ratchathani 1,190 cars, Surat Thani 1,177 cars, Phuket 1,039 cars and Udon Thani 965 cars https://www.newsdirectory3.com/analysis-of-electric-vehicle-registrations-in-thailand-and-expansion-of-charging-stations/

The same could be said about EV's However, for the provinces with the lowest number of EV vehicle registrations last year, Mae Hong Son Province, 1 vehicle and not much better in other provinces Number 4 is Songkhla Province with 1,614 cars, Khon Kaen 1,409 cars, Rayong 1,283 cars, Ubon Ratchathani 1,190 cars, Surat Thani 1,177 cars, Phuket 1,039 cars and Udon Thani 965 cars. https://www.newsdirectory3.com/analysis-of-electric-vehicle-registrations-in-thailand-and-expansion-of-charging-stations/

According to this article BYD look like their 1st pickup will be a gas hybrid As for the power option that BYD chooses to launch first in 2024, it will be a gasoline engine. It works with a plug-in hybrid electric motor (PHEV), while a pure electric version (BEV) will be ready for sale in 2025. https://www.headlightmag.com/2024-01-10-spyshots-byd-truck/ I think there are plenty of Ford F150 lighting owners wishing they had delayed their purchases so maybe better to wait for BYD 3rd generation pickup trucks

British and Norwegian nationals arrested for illegal employment

I am not sure about that if the insurance company asked to see the police report and the police reported stated she was arrested for acting as a taxi service which is outside the remit of her work permit -
British and Norwegian nationals arrested for illegal employment

With the Norwegian lady driving a branded company car with customers to the ferry in the event of a serious accident would the resort car insurance accept liability assuming she was in the wrong and pay out or would they try to wiggle out based on she was doing something not within her work permit, If the resort's car insurance wiggled out and refused to accept liability the next step would be to try and claim against the resort's insurance or would they wiggle out on the same basis most insurance companies i know will try to avoid paying out if they can find a way out Common sense and insurance doesn't always go together in agreement -

vinny41 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
One media outlet has labelled it The David Effects Think of all those homeowners that last month had land titles to their properties only to have those land titles revoked Or all the homeowners who had access to their own exclusive beach now to be told your own exclusive beach will be now shared with the general public that also must effect property values as your own private beach must have a higher value than you will have access to a public beach And all the people that have had their collar felt by local police there must have been serious words sent from Bangkok sort it or else -

Some media outlets are reporting that the elephant sanctuary licence will be revoked other media outlets such as BP are reporting that the elephant foundation created in 2021 its license will be revoked In this article it states Authorities have already withdrawn the licenses for a pistol and rifle. Mr Fehr owned the pistol, while the Elephant Foundation owned the rifle. https://www.chiangraitimes.com/news/elephant-sanctuary-in-phuket/
