Reports of modern slavery double in UK care sector
vinny41 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
My reply was to your original post which isn't relevant in relation to the ops post as the ops post is related to domiciliary carers there are people that provide social care in people homes -
And when you click on the link it list all the cars available for sale and the Nissan Leaf is not listed and the link I posted yes its 1 year old but the clue was in the title Final Call
-
Nissan is well known for not updating their English web pages you can't order new Nissan leaf on their Thai web page According to this article there was a total of 40 Nissan leaf cars available for sale last July 2022 Final Call ! Nissan LEAF 100% electric car: 959,000 baht (imported CBU) | 311 km. distance (NEDC) https://autolifethailand.tv/final-call-nissan-leaf-ev-bev-959000/

Reports of modern slavery double in UK care sector

This article is about domiciliary carers they don't work in care homes also another clue The car she had been promised to travel between clients did not materialise, so she had to walk to appointments Not something that would be required by someone working in a care home -
Its strange that your comparing MG ZS EV 2022 model instead of the MG ZS EV 2019 44.5 kWh. battery or the new version of the Nissan Leaf 62 kWh. battery
-
Not really look at MG EP vs MG ES is 24.5% more expensive than the MG EP yes there are some improvements in the MG ES but not sure its worth the extra 24.5% And comparing MG ZS EV with Leaf the leaf is loaded with import taxes take the taxes off and the Leaf would be a similar price or lower to the MG ES Likewise Korean built EV's are going to struggle to compete on price with Thai/Chinese built EV

Nissan Leaf price March 2020 was 1,490,000 baht https://www.headlightmag.com/special-price-nissan-leaf-ev-100/ MG ZS EV price June 2019 was 1,190,000 baht https://www.headlightmag.com/offcial-photo-mg-zs-ev-thailand/ Not a huge difference in price
-
And when was the last time that the Nissan leaf was sold for 2m baht And I think you will find the MG EP was never 1.1 million as the launch price was B998,000 in 2020 https://paultan.org/2020/12/02/mg-ep-ev-launched-in-thailand-for-below-1m-baht-c-segment-wagon-380-km-electric-range-only-rm133k/ and in March 2022 it received a B227,000 price reduction 998,000-227,000=771,000

I suspect it was more to do with import taxes as the new leaf is still being sold in countries that have a similar climate to Thailand Nissan Leaf is an imported car from Japan. Therefore, the import tax according to the criteria of the Thai-Japan Free Trade Area, JTEPA, is 20% of the selling price at the factory. There is also an 8% excise tax compounded on top of the above. Another tax collected is the interior tax of 10% of the excise tax. In this case, it's 9,600 baht, a total of 1,305,600 baht, and finally, there is a VAT of 7% of the total value added. In this case, it's 91,932 baht, the total price is about 1.396 million baht. https://www.autofun.co.th/news/ข้อมูลล่าสุดเผยราคา-nissan-leaf-ขายคนไทยแพงเป็นอันดับ-6-ของโลก-เพราะภาษีตัวเดียว-38534 So nearly B400,000 in taxes if the price leaving the factory is 1 million baht

You know the reason why this price was reduced yet you still trot out the same rubbish The Nissan leaf was discontinued in Thailand July 2022 Global sales totaled 577,000 Leafs by February 2022. The Leaf listed as the world's all-time top selling plug-in electric car through December 2019. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Leaf

Lithium batteries can ignite weeks after a crash - but EVs not necessarily more fire prone than gas vehicles Another heavy concern is that lithium-Ion EV batteries are difficult to extinguish and may require a lot of water, depending on the situation and the equipment availiable in the accident scene .In some extreme cases EV fires have required 30,000 gallons / 110,000 liters of water to extinguish. https://ctif.org/news/lithium-ev-batteries-can-ignite-weeks-after-crash-not-necessarily-more-fire-prone-gas-vehicles

Here the link that you forgot to provide https://www.autoweek.com/news/a38225037/how-much-you-should-worry-about-ev-fires/

Statistically your are most probably correct since EV sales in Thailand comprised 3% of total automobile sales in 2022. leaving the other 97% being ICE vehicles

It Should be noted that the original op link has been updated by the BBC Update 21st July 2023: We acknowledge that the information we reported - that Coutts' decision on Nigel Farage's account did not involve considerations about his political views - turned out not to be accurate. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-66097039

P3 of the 40 page report that you have been quoting from Meanwhile Nigel Farage accuses NatWest of giving his data to BBC and complains to Information Commissioner He revealed he had received a 40-page document showing he met the "criteria for commercial retention" but Coutts - a bank also used by the Royal Family - wanted him to leave because of his views, https://news.sky.com/story/nigel-farage-accuses-natwest-of-giving-his-data-to-bbc-and-complains-to-information-commissioner-12925694

Coutts relaxes £1m threshold to cater for Adam clients The private bank has eased its deposit rules after being left with a number of lower net worth clients following Canaccord's acquisition of Adam & Co's investment arm. The spokesperson added that the private bank has a 'broad spectrum' of customers that have significantly less than the £1m minimum, such as the .. https://citywire.com/wealth-manager/news/coutts-relaxes-1m-threshold-to-cater-for-adam-clients/a2400689

n this BBC clip the BBC have reported they have heard from Coutts customers stating they are below the financial threshold and they still have their accounts https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-66262494 The Financial Conduct Authority, City watchdog for conduct of banks, points to relevant legislation which forbids discrimination: Regulation 18 of the Payment Accounts Regulations 2019 – one of the EU retained laws from 2015 – which states: “A credit institution must not discriminate against consumers legally resident in the United Kingdom by reason of their nationality or place of residence or by reason of sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or belief, political or any other opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age or sexual orientation when those consumers apply for or access a payment account.” I

New Customers only Coutts doubles client threshold to £1 million Prospective clients must now have at least £1 million in investable assets rather than the £500,000 which has been in place over the past decade. Coutts has issued updated guidelines which require new clients to have access to investible assets of £1 million as opposed to the £500,000 figure which has been in place over the past decade. ‘Some clients won’t have that,’ said a spokesperson, adding that Coutts will not close off entirely to those without the sought after liquid million. The change in policy will not affect clients already with Coutts. https://citywire.com/wealth-manager/news/coutts-doubles-client-threshold-to-1-million/a487853

I have already provided you with the evidence that his account was closed due to his views not being the same as Coutts Its strange that you have chosen to ignore this even though you replied to my post The Committee did not think continuing to bank NF was compatible with Coutts given his publicly-stated views that were at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation. this was not a political decision but one centred around inclusivity and Purpose.
