  1. "All these many many threads do is inflame the populace, cause apprehension, spread fear - to what end ?"

Some folk get a perverted desire out off creating A & D, Alarm and Despondency, I totally agree the rumor mongers and spreaders of fear should go, where ? far away to a place with no connection to the net.

Converted both my MacBook Pro and iMac to SSD.

  3. At the weekend I purchased a WD SSD.

Today I have been offered Dropbox which comes via WD, which I at first confused with Airdrop.

I downloaded Dropbox and it does same as Airdrop only IMHO it's a way of making money.

You only get a limited amount of free File space and then you must start to pay.

Even deleted files count against your total file space and I will now delete Dropbox and continue searching for my free Airdrop.

  4. Thank you for your advice.

I spent about 3 hrs yesterday following a long write up on problems with Airdrop not being recognized and no luck. Deleting several andthe reinstalling several apps was tried as recommended but no success.

I am convinced it's a problem on my MacBook which I rarely use, for back in my home location I am an iMac user, and no connection problems on iMac and either of my phone or pad.

Another fault is that I bought a bluetooth mouse and this is recognized by both my Phone/Pad but not by the MacBook.

  5. May I recommend Magic on third floor of Pantip Plaza. They are located at the rear on a corner, if you come up the elevator at what I call the rear then they are directly in front of you, as the corner shop.

They open at 10.30 and the owner/senior guy is usually a little later.

I have found them very good with a pleasant attitude, not the best English but they know computers both Macs and PC.

    Not expensive.

  6. I am an escapee from Chiang Mai down on the coast.

I was in Hua Hin this morning and obtained a Sandisk Flash drive with a standard USB on one end and a USB-C on the other. I have manage to get Sendanywhere working to my satisfaction and now have tools on hand to allow me to take photos on my iPad/Phone and transfer them to my Macbook Pro. Very helpful young lady assisted me in setting up the Sandisk Flash drive, typical of Thai folk.

Thanks to all who offered advice.

Yes, its a nice place, but no beach at all, unless as stated you go the the Ao Manao military base in a taxi etc, (too far to walk for an 80+ year old!) housing could also as said be an issue, and only very few farang bars, ie 4 or 5!

I like PKK, quiet but no bars, none that I have found.

I am not a drinking man but I do enjoy the odd bottle of beer especially with a meal.

Also getting around for an elderly person would be a problem, only occasional taxi, no grab and locals use M/cycles fitted with sidecars for any distance work.

NIce town, far cheaper then Chiang Mai, I know Susuwarn resort had a friend live there for 3 years, but air pollution is killing CM, that's why I am down in PKK.

Staying in a new hotel, spotless, friendly and who will do a deal for long term stay B10,500/month paid in advance.

Well, yeah...but a few hours A YEAR? You'd rather spend three times the cost of the extension itself (or more) just to avoid a few hour of "sitting around" once a year

In my case, YES, I would rather spend some of my money then spend a few uncomfortable hours at CM immigration.

I suppose its OK for the young pups to spend their time waiting around but at my age I just don't need the hassle.

I pay my agent and they do everything, in 2019 I was in immigration for exactly 10 mins, entering to leaving with a new 12 month visa. For my 90 day I am required to drop off then a couple of days later collect my passport from their office, even I can manage that.

  9. I got caught during my escape from CM, exceeding 90 kph, polite officer asks if I speak Thai, Nit Noy, 120kph B500, he says in good English.

So I joined the queue about a dozen all Thai and most M/cyclists. There were all annoyed at being caught and having to cough up B500.

When my turn came to pay B500 says the cashier, but it was only B400 last time, the entire panel  had a laugh.

Don't know if I will get points only time will tell.

There is an iOS app called Sendanywhere. I have not used it, but it might be what you are looking for.

Thanks, I managed to make the Sendanywhere work.

Very slow but as old and retired I have plenty of time.

I found it very difficult to follow their instructions for use. I am an old soldier and instructing is an art, not something that web developers have got 100%.

  11. I am on Catalina on my iMac which is back at my home location.

My Macbook is running El Capitan 10.11.6 .

After upgrading my iMac I found that my Laser Printer would not work as it was 32 bit only and Catalina is 64 bit.

I have just set up Simple transfer, Thanks gents for your kind assistance.

    Hope it works.

If anyone thinks I am Thick all I can say is you should have seen me in my PC days, I used to say I could lock up/freeze a PC just by looking at it.

    Thank you genuinely appreciated.
