Same for UK Basil, but you do not have to send it with application for new one, as you could be without a Passport for a couple of months, which is not a good situation. I would assume that the old passport number is automatically nulled when new one is issued. You need the old one available if you need Visas and other stamps transferred.

And all UK banks can do a SWIFT transfer to any other Foreign bank, sometimes that is cheaper than WISE, depending on the amount sent.

Do you REALLY have to send your old Passport with the application for a new one? I thought it was against the Law here to be without it. I have a couple of UK ones, which I personally made holes in when my new one arrived, after transferring the stamps at Immigration.
