Like you, I get the UK State Pension plus a small addition from Norway. Got a TIN two years ago from my local, Bang Rakam, tax office. Yes, if carry on is needed for the trip eg baby food etc, but most overheads, or 'Hat Racks' as Emirates still call them, are not opened during the flight.
