  1. The production runs of advertising posters can be good, when the person doing the copy is sure that they don't need any help in correcting their English spelling. Some Jomtiem Beach events recently had some gross errors.

    Talking about spelling errors...... :o

  2. I fear for my safety here in Pattaya. the crime rate is getting out of hand. we have many Thai criminals and thugs hanging around here. these guys deal drugs and create problems. I think a good idea would be to build a large gated complex with it's own tight security for foreigners in Pattaya to keep the bad guys out. anybody think it is a good idea?

have you thought about picking up 6-7 of these?

They won't do anything for you. It takes them half an hour to get from one side of their cage to the other. :o

  3. I wouldn't trust 1 word BPH says..

I accompanied someone who was having Cosmetic Surgery a couple of years ago there. The price of 100,000 baht was given.

They were made to pay the bill before the operation, and once they got to the office, the bill was 120,000. They argued that they had been told it would have been 100,000 baht and had already gotten the cash together. They made it very clear that they would be paying the price they were told and not 1 baht more.

Suddenly, the price was back down to 100,000 again.

    Amazing BPH :o

  4. I've been to the Theprasit Bike Auction before, when I was looking for a little Fino for myself.

Got excited when I saw the bikes were going for anything between 2,000 baht and 10,000 baht.

Boyfriend went to 'Sign Up' to get our auctioneer number. Was told that 'Registration' is a 1 time fee of 10,000 baht per night. You can buy as many bikes as you like after you have paid this 10,000 baht fee. Most bikes sell for around 5,000. Its worth it if you were to buy a few, but I wouldn't risk buying one for myself there. And that 10,000 baht fee is only good for the night and is non refundable.

The place was full of Thai guys buying many, many bikes, probably for re-sale.

  5. Last year when I was returning from a trip to the UK, The airline was checking everybody's Passport expiry dates before boarding the plane. I heard several times that you need 6 months left in your passport.

  6. I love the new mall but was quite disappointed with the shops. Way over priced and the ladies clothes are awful :o Some nice stuff in Central Department store, but I'll only really be going there for the Restaurants and maybe the cinema.

I agree though that it is NO WAY difficult to get up to the cinema, there are lifts everywhere, simply go to the top floor.

  7. Near Sophon Cable TV there are guys with Pickups who are available for rent. About 300 baht a trip... On sukhumvit there is a place which offers larger vehicles and their guys will help you. If you're short on people to help carry the furniture out, Offer a motorbike taxi some $$ and I'm sure you'll have no problem finding help.

  8. And for the people who hide out East of Pattaya, You really aren't getting a real piece of what Songkran has turned into..

This year, why don't you take a drive down Pattaya Klang and see what you think of it then.

Last time I went out for Songkran, I had a huge gang of boys stop my bike, take out my keys, and did not give them back until they had completely covered us in Powder, kissed and touched me (Even when I was with my boyfriend) and tried to pick a fight with my boyfriend................ And this is just 1 of the things what happened to us that day...... ummmm, fun huh!!!!!!

  9. So you say its the "old men" who grumble about Songkran..

Well, this is coming from a 20 year old who has been here long enough to know that Songkran is one of the most dangerous days of the year. I don't enjoy having dirty ice cold water hammered into my face. For a lot people, it seems like just another excuse to get completely drunk out of their head, pick fights to show how 'strong' they are, and for a lot of the guys, an easy way to get a touch of a girls body..

Just watch the Thai news in April and you'll see... Its a disgrace and should be banned. I'll certainly be hiding away in my house from the hooligans who go out, Or I'll be taking a nice break in a neighboring country for a few days to completely get away from it.

Most of the people who have been here many, many years feel the same way.

Now you can't call me a grumbling old man :o

  10. I find the name of this new shopping mall totally (stupid) ridiculous. You would think someone would have had the intelligence to give it a unique name to distinguish it from the other Central Festival shopping centre. Something short but catchy would have been the way to go, but of course, as seems to be the tradition in Thailand, they give it a stupid, confusing name.
    Hi,

I do not understand your problem with mall's names ??

The new one is "Central Festival" (short and easy name)

The other one is "Central Center" but everybody call it "Big C"

I can't see anything confusing in these names.

    That is completely wrong.

The old one is "Central Festival Center"

The New one is "Central Festival Pattaya Beach"
