  1. Probably I'll get killed over this, but after reading posts about pets, dogs, cats, poissoned, killed and all the suffering that goes along, I just think..........nothing.

I just can't imagine that people burry or even cremate their pets and keep the ashes in their homes. I can't imagine that people keep pets anyway.

    Sure, I hate pets.

    Sure, pets are annoying.

    Sure, I won't harm them.

Sure, I don't understand pets and their 'bosses'.

I have some friends who happen to have cats.......it's always something with these beasts, cost a fortune on vets, and they'll die anyway. They're treated as children and they even sometimes called that way......our children.

Ok, I respect my friends, but I also have my doubts on the "having pets intentions".

Surely animals must be interesting enough for you to even click on this thread and waste your time writing your useless reply, though?

So what do you expect people to do, Throw them in the trash? Hope you get the same treatment one day.

  2. Our lovely dog (Lucy) was the third dog of ours (all family pets) in a month to die we believe of poisoning ; I asked a friend what to do with the body.

He advised me to go to the vet at Soi Neurn Plub Warn.

After that advice I first went to our own vet which is nearer, thinking they would have a similar disposal service.

I went in and said I had a dead dog in the back of the car and asked if they could do something with it.

They all discussed the matter and went to the car with a cardboard box. I didn't really want to look but saw in the corner of my eye how 1 person lifted the body by the four legs and folded it into the box.

Then the box went back into the back of the pick-up and I got the advice to "dig hole".

I did not get into a discussion, but instead got back into the car and off to Neurn Plub Warn.

The proceedings started the same. I went in and said I had a dead dog in the back of the car and asked if they could do the appropriate thing with it.

The receptionist went to the car and took the box out.

Then they took it in to the back of the veterinary.

I was waiting for a bill at the reception when the vet came out and started talking to the receptionist and disappeared again.

When she came back she asked what happened and I told her that the dog was poisoned. Then she said that I should have come earlier.

I told her that there was no time for that, it all happened too quickly.

And then she said: "Well you can take her home now, I am sorry to say but your dog is dead".

And that was it for me and I said: "You people are really starting to piss me off. Do you think that I would come with a living dog folded in a box for medical treatment?"

Any way they asked me what her weight the dog was and I, realizing this cremating business is obviously charged by the kilo, said she was about 1 kilo.

They didn't believe me and charged me for 9 kilos which I paid without further comment.

That vets have a large cage weighing scale near the door. Why didn't they just weigh it?

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I have had a couple of bad experiences with that vets myself and will not be returning there. :)

I don't think they wanted to walk around the veterinary with a dead dog with blood still running out of her nose and put it on a weighing scale.

In the meantime I won't be returning there with a living animal as well.

The previous poisoned dog was completely incorrectly diagnosed and that cost us 2,800 THB.

Their cremation service seems much cheaper. Perhaps a larger turnover.

You did say the dog was in a box, So I just thought they could have placed the box on the weighing scales since the weight seemed to be an issue with people trying to guess how heavy it was.

  4. Thanks Dave, I'll definitely be more careful now when I'm out in my garden.. Luckily I was stood on white tiles when it came near me so was easy to spot. Would have been a different story if I was stood on the grass part of my garden. I wouldn't have noticed it :D

Thaddeus, It was definitely the flat bodied one. The centipede. I came to look them up right away on Google and it was definitely a centipede. I just hope that it's just a one off and that I don't have a nest of them somewhere in my garden. Scary! :)

  5. How about centipedes? Had about a 9 inch centipede pass me on my patio a couple of nights ago. It disappeared down my side garden. How dangerous are they?

Mega dangerous, people have suffered some SERIOUS bites from these, there was some pictures on ThaiVisa somewhere regards the damage these buggers can inflict, was it perhaps Soundman that posted them - cant remember.

    Be careful!! :D

Wow, thanks for the warning, That's scary stuff. I'll have to be extra careful when wandering around my garden after dark. It was within inches of my foot.. :)

  6. When the Avenue Pet shop first opened, the staff in there were very polite and helpful, however, we had the same attitude problem when we were looking for an American Short Hair last year.

They had what appeared to be a fully grown one available there. Markings were nothing special, price was somewhere around 20,000 baht. The salesgirl gave us the feeling that we were disturbing her as she was busy styling her hair when we arrived at the shop. The cat had its back on us and she made no attempt at all to try to show it to us. We just got to see the back of its head.

Went elsewhere and got a better kitten for less than half the price. That shop won't last long if the sales girls don't change their attitude with their customers.

  7. He's playing in Pattaya on june 6th at the liveplay lazer grounds near the floating market . :)

If anyone has anymore info about this concert, please post it, sound like it will be a good night.

  8. Some of those guys sell gasoline (petrol) for motorbikes.

Don't know but probably siphened (stolen) and cheaper than at the pumps to be sure.

They sell them in glass bottles that they have usually concealed.

I'm guessing this was their proposition to you.

Their petrol is more expensive than the pumps ,and that's how they make a profit .

    Hmm...I stand corrected I guess.

I just assumed it was cheaper, because who the hel_l would buy it from them if it's cheaper at the pumps?

Anyway, I still think this might have been the proposition.

We have bought the bottles of gasoline from the motorbike taxi's from time to time because we either aren't going anywhere near a Gasoline Station and in a hurry to get somewhere, or because we were too low and probably wouldn't make it to the station. Its just more convenient sometimes rather than driving all the way to the station when you're traveling in the opposite direction.

  9. We also have this happen to us very often, but its always as we are just getting out of/in to our car.

We often park near a motorbike taxi stand when we go shopping every week, They ALWAYS ask us, without fail, if we need a motorbike taxi. They know very well that we have just got out of a car, and since we park in the same place every week, they know where we are going and that we never need a taxi..

Doesn't bother me, though. Just leaves me wondering sometimes.

  10. PLEASE try to avoid buying from the market stalls. I know of 8 people who purchased pets at these markets. 6 of those people were unlucky and their dog/cat died (5 from Theprasit, 1 from Soi Bua Khao). I have purchased from Theprasit myself last year and after 1 week, The poor kitten passed away and I was left with a 4-5,000 baht Vet bill. Vet said it was nothing I did but it had a very high level of bacteria in its system which had built up since birth, and its little body just couldn't handle it.

You could go around the pet shops and check out notice boards. You could also check out online ads. I purchased my 2 Persians from an online Thai ads site, they delivered them both to Pattaya so if you are with a Thai, it might be worth them looking online for you.

Good luck anyway but please be careful with the market stall animals!

  11. I walk daily up and down Soi 17 - Caddy Shack to Tukcom and back.

So you don't need to run to the darkside - make a good deal within walking distance of Walking Street and Tesco/Outlet Mall. (For me, anyway, it's all within walking distance).

I don't know where Suk Sabai Village is located but those must be some hellava walks...but anyplace that is walkable to both Walking Street and Lotus on Sukhumvit (lets just say at the midpoint between the two) is still a heck of long way from both.

Dont be such a wimp lol.Not far to walk from soi 17 to Walking St or Tesco Lotus.I walk many times from Pattaya 3rd North to Jomtien and back.

You must be a fast walker.. Lol.. All the way from North Pattaya to Jomtien? wow.. Thats a long way! It's probably take me all day to get there never mind all the way back again.. :)
