With a population of nearly 72 millions and buss going everywhere day and night such accidents, by statistics, are bound to happen,

good thing it doesn't happened too often...

good thing it doesn't happen too often ???

Thailand is one of the most dangerous country in the world as regards road accidents. eg 6 times more death than in France with same population

  2. Hello,

Up to now, whenever I went to Pattaya from Bangkok, I took the bus at Ekamai bus station.

Buses from Suvarnabhumi seem to be more modern and with better stops than from Ekamai.

The terminus of Roong Reuang Coach service from Suvarnabhumi is Jomtien Bus Station but they wrote me they have two other stops :

We will have a couple of drop off points at before reaching Central Pattaya intersection and before reaching South Pattaya intersection. On Sukhumvit Road.

The location of these stops on Google maps is not clear for me. Do you know where they exactly are?

    Thanks

  4. Hello,

I am now in Thailand and will spend one week in Laos.

I will enter Laos by road (First Thai Lao Friendship bridge)

What is the best solution, getting an e-visa before going to Laos or a visa on arrival ?

I am french.  Maybe an e-visa is a little more expensive (50 $ for french) but on the other hand maybe will there be more queue at border with a Visa on arrival.

I don't know the price for Visa on arrival, but a lao friend told me I could pay in USD or in THB, and that the price in THB was higher. I would have to  buy USD if I chose currency to pay.

By the way, I read that bridge was funded and built by Australia. A strange way to thank Australia not to name it Lao-Australian Friendship Bridge 555

    Thanks

For some reason I’m now able to book a hotel with Agoda on the card again ????

I did go in to the Bangkok Branch in Central festival to change my address from Bangkok to Wongamat when I reported the problem & only got a message back from the bank 4 days ago that “My request has been processed” so maybe they’ve updated the online thing at the same time as the address.

Last friday I booked a resort on Agoda with my Bangkok Bank Debit Card.

The following day, Agoda asked for a copy of my passport and of my Debit Card.

Since my name is not printed on that Debit Card,  they rejected it and cancelled my booking.

My booking was paid and debited by Bangkok Bank on Friday. On monday I am still waiting for a refund!

Of course, one big concern I have about Laos involves the reported illegality of a farlang having a Lao girlfriend....This law is still on the books, correct ? How often is it currently enforced ?

    Hello,

On french foreign affairs website abour advice to travellers I was very surprised the warning about this.
    Translated from french :

    Quote

Relations outside of marriage with a Laotian are not permitted under penalty of confiscation of the passport, a fine (minimum $1,000) and a prison sentence.

    Conseils aux voyageurs

I also wondered about it, since I am planning to go to Laos from Thailand with a Lao friend

Sorry but i might invalidate my TM30 if I traveled within Thailand. Thai government wants us to travel and do TM30. Can't have both. I'm afraid all these traditional handicrafts demonstrations being put on in villages in the middle of nowhere will just have to take place without me.

I read it was not necessary to  make a new TM30 when you are back home after travelling.

At Chaengwattana, I showed the same TM30 after travelling. No problem

  8. I opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank in Bangkok (Silom head office) in 2018.

I did not use an agent. I was on visa exempt at that time. They only asked for a copy of my passport certified by my embassy.

I paid 300 bahts to get a debit card and that was all. They didn't even require a minimum deposit  or insurance.
