The New York flat fare for a single ticket was $3.00 (B100), not $2.75 and similar to the BTS, its' fare will shortly be increased to $4.00 (B122). The fact is that that the New York Metro was built in 1904 and is aging considerably, consequently there have been 64 major accidents on the system. It does not have modern signaling systems on all its' system, like the BTS has. If there was a flat fare of B30 the whole system would be overcrowded and without any profit, the maintenance of the system would suffer and trains, stations etc would start falling apart with frequent breakdowns, the same as the BMTA buses and SRT trains.

    Do you have a solution?

This Thai bashing is getting tiresome. If you have a Thai passport and pay real taxes then maybe...

But I suspect you are as 98.8% are, a visitor here with permission to remain at the discretion of the immigration dept. As a visitor it is polite not to overtly citicise your host(s).

If you are a Thai citizen I suspect there are other avenues for you to whinge about your own country without using a foreign language forum.

How do you know if I am or aren't ?

When i´m shoping at 7/11 and i have to pay, for example 65 Baht, i´ll give a 100 baht note and a 5 baht coin to the cashier, which, more often than not, results in a blank stare and total, utter confusion.

Then i get back 35 Baht plus my 5 Baht, and they seem even proud to have shown me, that i have mistakenly given 5 Baht too much. Silly me.

Now take away further 50 % from this maths ability. That leaves us where ?

Happens to me quite often at Tesco.

When I try to explain why I am left with a blank stare and smile.

It's frustrating when you proffer a 25 or 50 satang coin.

My guess is... it's an approaching train! Here in Oz, they've just determined that the most likely cause of the virus spread on the 7th floor of a quarantine hotel in Brisbane came via the air venting system, indicating the airborne spread theory is strong.

The other big news that's little known is that the last 7 years have each been the hottest in recorded history and the sea-level is now rapidly increasing, with 4 mm last year being recorded by NASA.

That's before we take into account the political instability, climate change and environmental catastrophe resulting from out Global Corporate Military Industrial Consumer culture that continues unabated.

Enjoy the moment if possible but be prepared for much worse if you are able.

Oh, <deleted>! I was just enjoying my first Sunday beer. Now I'll have to just get <deleted>.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand has received applications from AstraZeneca and Sinovac Biotech to register their COVID-19 vaccines for use in the country, the food and drug agency said on Tuesday.

Thailand previously ordered 63 million vaccine doses from the two companies, which would be enough to inoculate nearly half of its 70 million population.

Two million doses will be from Sinovac, which is expected to deliver its first 200,000 doses next month. The rest will be the AstraZeneca and Oxford University vaccine, which would be produced by Thai firm Siam Bioscience for local use and export.

The vaccine will need to undergo various safety assessments to be registered in Thailand, and once approved, they can be bought by private hospitals, said Food and Drug Administration secretary-general, Paisal Dunkhum.

"We're processing AstraZeneca's request, which is expected to be approved soon," Paisal said in a statement on Tuesday, without specifying a target date.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said after a weekly cabinet meeting that everyone in the country would get the chance to be inoculated.

"I confirm that every Thai will be vaccinated," Prayuth said.

Thailand reported 287 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 10,834 since it detected its first case almost a year ago. It has recorded 67 coronavirus-related fatalities so far.

No, Thailand will withhold care, hold you in the hospital, keep or take your passport, and hold you hostage until you pay, and blast you across the media.

The states will give you care and let you go, and everything is confidential.

    Not same.

    Not true by a longshot.

I recently underwent emergency treatment at Siriat and was given  excellent care.

I was charged :Farang rate" ie +25% released whilst still owing 90% of the bill after agreeing to pay the outstanding monthly.

For those who don't want to install MorChana in order to read them, here are the Ts&Cs.

If you are happy with the government collecting and storing such data for the duration of the pandemic (in other words forever) go ahead and install it, otherwise stick with the less invasive ThaiChana app.

CCSA spokesman clarifies threat of jail for not using MorChana app

    By The Nation

    CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin

Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin apologised on Thursday for sparking public uproar with his threat of prison for people who conceal their travel information.

Netizens vented anger after Taweesin announced that people might be jailed for not installing the MorChana contact-tracing app on their phones. Social media users pointed out that many people don’t have smartphones capable of running apps.

Taweesin responded by apologising for the confusion on his personal Facebook. He clarified that the legal penalty only applied to Covid-positive individuals in the 28 “red” provinces who have no records of travel, including on the MorChana app. The penalty – up to two years in jail and/or a maximum fine of Bt40,000 – would be strictly applied in the five locked down provinces of Samut Sakhon, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat, he said.

The MorChana app identifies the Covid status of users according to four colour codes – from green for low risk to red for high risk – and tracks their location.

Popular Facebook medic Mor Lab Panda (aka Parkpoom Dejhutsadin) said on Thursday afternoon that Taweesin had assured him that Covid patients who do not own a smartphone will not face charges if they cooperate with health officials. Parkpoom said the CCSA just wanted to encourage people to install the application as a powerful tool to investigate and track timelines.
